A sad day indeed.
Had to have a relative pick up a delivery in America, as untermenchen are restricted to the ghetto.
Looking forward to the reparations period.
This one’s a rather silly story about a threat to blow up the Eiffel Tower unless a ransom is paid. Fonda shows once again that he can’t act, Dullea’s character is lifeless, and Fairbanks is the token star of yesteryear that 1970s disaster movies often added to their wide and varied casts. Nothing exciting.
It stars Robert Morley, Jack Hawkins, and some chap named Anthony Hopkins (I wonder whatever became of him?). Hopkins plays a Bond-like naval officer investigating the disappearance of bullion ships, so there’s lots of action. It makes one wonder why he wasn’t chosen to succeed Lazenby instead of Moore, as he might have made a decent James Bond.
I saw this on TCM’s Noir Alley several weeks ago and it’s good.
SOMETIMES YOU NEED TO ASK THE RIGHT QUESTION. In regards to our PM ‘S recent fuddle diddle moment I am wondering why no one is asking the right questions. It seems rather convenient coincidence that there was a training exercise planned over parliament hill at the same time the truckers occupied the streets. The thing is that these types of exercises are seldom a one off and in general are often repeated at multiple times, often near the same time of year. As the exercise has been claimed to have been scheduled well in advance there would be a huge paper trail. Typically final operations or or operation orders would be completed 45 days before the exercise. And they would be extensive. There would be after action analysis as well and as these exercises are typically not one offs, multiple years should be available. So where is the paperwork why isn’t the government presenting it to prove their contention and why isn’t the opposition, the inquiry and media asking for it? I think we know.
“Right questions” are now considered hate speech–that’s why they’re not being asked any more.
The opposition may be getting ready to ask for it but first they have to let him make a contrary statement in the House so he’s caught lying to Parliament.

“Petition e-3940 calls on the government to work with farmers and others “to ensure any plan to reduce agricultural emissions does not restrict or financially discourage the amount of fertilizer that Canadian farmers use and does not limit Canada’s ability to maximize food production.”
Mazier said his research showed the government is looking at limiting how much fertilizer producers can buy.
“It’s an actual thing, which is very, very concerning,” he said.
Limiting food production, particularly considering the war in Ukraine, is not something Canada should contemplate, he said.
“First of all, the target is kind of alarming and you’re going to limit the amount of food producers can grow,” said Mazier. “Fertilizer has basically changed the way we produce food in the world. We should be looking at ways that we can grow our production and putting a limit on farmers I don’t think is a very good way of looking at things.””

Instead, let me offer the last three titles in my queue of movies based on Alistair MacLean novels.
First, The Hostage Tower (Peter Fonda, Keir Dullea, and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.):

Next, Caravan to Vaccares:

This one features David Birney, Charlotte Rampling, and Michael Lonsdale. Again, nothing spectacular.
Finally, one which I actually thought was a reasonably decent flick, When Eight Bells Toll:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=og2K-c7nNsg
It stars Robert Morley, Jack Hawkins, and some chap named Anthony Hopkins (I wonder whatever became of him?). Hopkins plays a Bond-like naval officer investigating the disappearance of bullion ships, so there’s lots of action. It makes one wonder why he wasn’t chosen to succeed Lazenby instead of Moore, as he might have made a decent James Bond.
The original book was good.
In the best traditions of the voyage of the Second Pacific Squadron, we get more great news:

So a state of the art frigate joins a cruiser, a landing ship (one sunk two damaged) and multiple fast attack craft in Lavrov’s new special underwater operations squadron. Not bad when fighting a land war against a country with no navy.
