In this edition of The Watchdog Podcast, Lowkey talks to Alan MacLeod about Ukraine, how the media is covering the conflict, and the promotion of supposedly “independent” Ukrainian media outlets that are quietly being funded by Western governments.

Chief among these is The Kyiv Independent, a newspaper that was barely three months old at the time of the Russian invasion but has shot to prominence in the West, being relentlessly promoted on television and radio and in print. As a result, it has managed to garner over two million followers on Twitter and raise millions of dollars in crowdfunding.

However, far less known is that The Kyiv Independent was born thanks to a grant of over CA$200,000 from the Canadian government, which made the donation through the European Endowment for Democracy…

The funny thing is I get forced crap from that same media outlet in Twitter feed despite telling the app I am not interested in it, and ultimately had to block it my feed was polluted with some many posts from it. I wonder if the Canadian government is also paying to have it appear in more Canadian’s feeds?

He says the Ukrainian Azov Nazi Battalion has been killing it’s own people since 2014, and Putin is de-nazifying the Country and liberating the citizens. The Western Standard is reporting that ex-Canadian Major General Trevor Cadieu has been arrested by Russian forces – he was allegedly overseeing one of the Bio-Weapons labs with 18 staff under his command.

    What’s really interesting was that they readied barricades around the Supreme Court Building BEFORE the leak happened.
