    1. For decades Albertans have said that BC stands for Bring Cash ….. the most bureaucratic and over regulated / over taxed place in western Canada.
      The skiing is good though.

  4. Toronto Shitty Council had the same idea, where you tax empty storefronts at the full commercial rate, instead of the reduced rate as some sort of incentive to make you hurry up and rent it out…

    never considering that any potential business has to pay the full commercial rate, and may require up to 6 months to get the storefront ready to actually open, assuming they can get the licenses and permits in place

    But the taxman can’t buy an in-ground pool on no taxes.

  6. Why do we let the biggest mouth idiots run things? Basically shut a lot of small businesses for 2 years and are astounded because there is empty buildings. So tax them and make it worse. Either they are the stupidest people in the world or they or their friends want to buy property cheap.

  7. District Council where I live want to add an extra tax to empty commercially zoned property. They think this will spur the development of much needed businesses. They are morons.

  8. I don’t know why someone would start a new business now when there’s no guarantee that the government won’t limit/shut down your business at the next sign of the flu season. And as much new taxes are stupid, commercial rents don’t seem to have dropped in response to the drop in demand either.
