Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

It’s broke..??
Ok, Lets tax it..
Thats what goes for intelligence on the Left coast.
Your Lower MAO-Land Socialists at work.
For decades Albertans have said that BC stands for Bring Cash ….. the most bureaucratic and over regulated / over taxed place in western Canada.
The skiing is good though.
Empty stores tax???
So, they tax what you sell, and tax what you don’t sell???
How long before a breathing tax?
Let’s expand the carbon tax to cover human and pest exhalations!
Coming to a body that just may be yours.
“How long before a breathing tax?
There will be no tax on inhaling, but carbon taxes cover exhaling.
That’s the carbon tax.
Excessive taxation leads to an increase in black market trade and inevitably the growth in illicit and illegal activities by individuals or organizations that act in bad faith.
Good luck in the efforts to collect that tax.
Epstein was a piker compared to this bunch.
Toronto Shitty Council had the same idea, where you tax empty storefronts at the full commercial rate, instead of the reduced rate as some sort of incentive to make you hurry up and rent it out…
never considering that any potential business has to pay the full commercial rate, and may require up to 6 months to get the storefront ready to actually open, assuming they can get the licenses and permits in place
Why do business in a country that is prohibitive to making a business work?
I would start there.
But the taxman can’t buy an in-ground pool on no taxes.
Why do we let the biggest mouth idiots run things? Basically shut a lot of small businesses for 2 years and are astounded because there is empty buildings. So tax them and make it worse. Either they are the stupidest people in the world or they or their friends want to buy property cheap.
District Council where I live want to add an extra tax to empty commercially zoned property. They think this will spur the development of much needed businesses. They are morons.
Commercial rents in Vancouver are already insanely high… how does adding more taxes make them affordable?
Maybe they need more weed shops and thrift stores?
“…STRATA FEE $426.43/MONTH AND TAX $16,410 FOR 2022. PLEASE NOTE STORE IS BELOW GROUND LEVEL GROUND – STAIR ACCESS ONLY. (id:4236)”

I don’t know why someone would start a new business now when there’s no guarantee that the government won’t limit/shut down your business at the next sign of the flu season. And as much new taxes are stupid, commercial rents don’t seem to have dropped in response to the drop in demand either.
