A rather incestuous relationship.
Michael Geist- How Did News Media Canada Get Bill C-18? The Lobbying Records Tell the Story
Bill C-18, the Online News Act, represents a massive win for News Media Canada, the lobbying arm for news organizations such as Postmedia and Torstar. After obtaining hundreds of millions in taxpayer support with programs such as the Local Journalism Initiative (made permanent in Budget 2022), the Journalism Labour Tax Credit, and the Digital Subscription Tax Credit, the organization set its sights on the Internet platforms.
Just fortifying democracy no doubt.

What a coincidence: on a day when the association that the NP is part of records a Win, it loses me as a charter subscriber effective tomorrow. It was the $113 media tax credit that did it for me. A while ago Conrad Black said that readers will pay for solid journalism and I agree – that’s why I’m into my second year with the Epoch Times. I’m a little disappointed that the NP didn’t bother enquiring why a reader of 24 years decided to leave but hey, it’s their loss.
They don’t give a shit, the government now pays them.
One hand washes the other.
And traitors all!
the News Media Cartel looked at the Milk Cartel, and said “gimme some of that!”
Communism working it’s magic. That folks is fact not fiction.
