  1. Imagine someone else confiscating your vehicle as your driving…
Certainly fits into what future Trudeau wants to turn his Trudeauland into.
Cops, politicians and any asshole who hacks your vehicle or device.
Not to mention that anytime you give access, touch another device, gives that device permission.
Such as we’ve seen with restaurants and this lockdowns access restrictions.

    1. Prior to your comment, I had always (naively) assumed that any agents “hacking” my car would be criminal, or some dumbass kid. It (along with many other things) just hadn’t occurred to me that the police would be doing it too. Since you mentioned it, I do see it happening, although they won’t call it hacking. Rather, I expect that once the tools exist (and they will be made) there will be legislation that will demand manufacturers provide the means for authorities to be able to seize control of your vehicle, or some aspect of it. The pretense given will likely be something such as a “need” to stop vehicles in emergency situations for public safety (stopping a vehicle in pursuit, or one that is out of control, …). But it won’t stop there. There will always be some other “need” or “scenario” where someone will want the ability to remotely seize control.

        1. Your honor I was trying to get to work and my screen froze. I backed
over my dear wife it was a strange accident.
          Sorry.
But I still need to go to work.

          1. Elon Musk parents were brought to earth on an Aliens Galicia kg Gravity powered space ship.
            He is an Aliens hybrid.

      1. along those lines l have a terrible premonition one day, some dimwit schmuck will accidentally wind up in a gay bar, nod in agreement to ‘fit in’ and find his ass up for grabs when the clever gay lawyer decides to ‘sue the bastard’ for ‘breach of verbal contract’ and is hogtied by the bailiff whilst the lawyer’s client puts his shaft where the hapless dimwit’s sun dont shine.

think not? did anyone predict this very, very, dystopian gender choice stuff?
-given -enough -time -anything -can -happen.

  2. What a revolting thing to happen, especially if you’re headed ohm. My current thinking is that I would have much resistance to purchasing one, or alternately, reluctance. Those are my condensed thoughts.

    1. ”… especially if you’re headed ohm… resistance … condensed…“

I see what you did there. Well played, Sir.

    2. Are conducting cattle called mho cows? Let me guess, they can be bred using bull Siemens, right?

  3. To all those Tesla owners who brag about how few moving parts their e-cars require? I’m here to tell them that the HARDEST part of servicing an ice automobile is chasing down electrical problems. It’s the most time consuming and tedious task in diagnostic repairs … even WITH the onboard computer control. So your’e not being “saved” from anything … in fact … your automobile problems just got worse.

    1. Gets even worse if your area has critters that like to chew on those wire harnesses.
      Especially the biodegradable ones.
Always good to keep a few outdoor cats around , worth their weight in gold.

        1. TNS ,Trap Neuter Spay , keeps spraying to a minimum.
The females are the best killers.

    2. Ghosts in the machines…
Playing the Watt and ohm concerto for the Mother boards dialogging what a piss, poor investment that you’ve made.
Playing AC/DC rock music while battling which current to stay focused on trying not to ‘burn itself out’ picking the wrong one recharging.

  4. All the runaway vehicle lawsuits were punted when it is shown that brakes can readily stall a vehicle. Stalling a gas engine has no serious consequences. Stalling an electric car may create a light show.

  5. Faster harder.
We shall mandate that all elected and appointed civil servants shall use such vehicles.
Better than open carry or clubbing such parasites in the streets.
We shall now identify and command their means of public conveyance to “Take them straight to hell”.
    Am I too cruel?
    Or not kind enough?

What has been sown will be harvested.
And I see nothing good in that which our parasitic overload has sown.

Maybe Musk is a real villain,Dr evil selling these “Most Virtuous of conveyances” so his minions can direct the suckers to their doom??

Think of what is coming down..
When the most gullible and disinterested, todays children, recognize they have been betrayed most foully, what is their tool of choice?
    Interesting days indeed.
One may observe, every new automobile has that antennae.

      1. Nah,
The Turd can fly on a solar powered dirigible. Preferably one filled with ‘green’ hydrogen.

        1. Preferably one filled with ‘green’ hydrogen.

I’d hate to think how he’ll produce that…..

  6. In my last trip on a California road, a speed of 83 mph will make the other cars in your windshield get smaller and smaller.

  7. “diagnosed and found poor communication from charge port door causing power conversion system to shut off in order to protect on board components during drive.” Looks like one ‘on board component’ got overlooked. Nice to know where you sit in the list of priorities.

    1. Capacitors, mofsets , surface mount resistors, relays aren’t what they used to be.
Cheap Chinese Pablum, CCP at work here.

  8. I know how much fun many of you have bashing electric cars. But the sad fact is, this driver probably either didn’t read the owner’s manual or doesn’t understand how Tesla autopilot works before getting in the car.

The brakes ALWAYS work, if he tapped the brakes the autopilot would have disengaged and he could control speed manually with the brake and accelerator.

If the screen freezes all signal lights still work, there is just no sound feedback. So if he hit the 4 way flashers button they would come on but he wouldn’t hear a clicking noise.

He could have rebooted the computer without stopping the car and this would have immediately resolved the issue.

Basically he panicked and didn’t just drive the car as he would have normally in any other situation.

    1. Reboot the computer without stopping?
Can someone do that while “Auto-Pilot” (or whatever it’s called) is engaged?
Excuse me if I’m being a tad insensitive, but I want fast moving vehicles to be more reliable than Microsoft Windows 95.

And that robot vehicle that was pulled over by police last week for not having its light on…
The easiest condition that a sensor-equipped vehicle should be able to determine is the time-of-day, and whether it is dark outside, or not. Yet these “modern miracles” don’t seem to be able to do that. How the hell is a robot car going to be able to navigate a snow-covered, multi-lane highway?

  9. My microwave oven kacked it last week, reminding me that all circuit boards have a finite lifespan.

    1. Rural southwestern desert freeways usually have a 75 mph speed limit, so 83 is probably just keeping up with every other car out there.

You should have driven around Montana in the late 90s when they experimented with no-speed-limit highways.
Kind of like going to a nude beach for the first time…
The first 15 minutes are wild and eye-opening, then you just start shivering with revulsion at things that you just cannot un-see.
