  12. April 16, 1972: Apollo 16 (Command Module Casper/Lunar Module Orion) with John Young, Ken Mattingly, and Charlie Duke was launched. The LM’s landing site was the Descartes highlands and it carried a lunar rover with it, allowing Young and Duke to cover a larger area.

    The original Apollo 16 crew (Young, Duke, and Jack Swigert) was the backup for Apollo 13. Mattingly, who had been exposed to measles, was dropped and Swigert took his place.

    There’s a Canadian connection to this mission. The previous summer, Young and Duke trained in the Sudbury region due to its topography being similar to that of the lunar landing site.

      1. Shareholder’s revolt? The directors might want to check to see whether their director liability insurance will pay out the $15 billion premium they will have denied shareholders. If the directors don’t pay the $15 billion the company will, bankrupting it. The directors better have a plan, for their sake. The poison pill is a cow pie that Musk isn’t about to step in. I’m sure his next purchase of shares will be all of them with the boards approval immediately before they resign. They better have a white knight in the wings. Musk is taking over Twitter as an act of charity with the possibility of expanding it. Good luck finding someone to pay over $50 billion so they can keep oppressing free speech.

    Yesterday, I bought a large jar of baker’s yeast for $10.50. I don’t remember when I bought some before (maybe a year or so ago) but it was around $8.50 back then.

      2. It may be more widespread than only those 2 Canadian airports. I went to Halifax International Airport to meet my daughter arriving on an incoming flight and was stopped from entering the terminal because I didn’t produce proof of vaccination. The airport make the unvaccinated / underclass wait outside the terminal at the lower concourse in their vehicles to meet and greet incoming travellers. This is not the Canada I recognize anymore.
