The Human Rights Campaign warns that “contrasting transgender people with ‘real’ or ‘biological’ men and women is a false comparison” that “can contribute to the inaccurate perception that transgender people are being deceptive or less than equal, when, in fact, they are being authentic and courageous.” This is a strawman wrapped in a non sequitur. Critics of gender self-identification do not argue that people like Thomas are “being deceptive,” but rather that they are themselves deceived. HRC’s use of “authentic” here really means “sincere”: transgender women are being sincere, not deceptive, when they say they have a strong inner sense of being a woman. But that sincerity is irrelevant unless one first assumes that what makes a belief true is the fact that it is sincerely held, rather than its correspondence to objective reality.
It seems that 50% of the population has no use for objective reality.
How true.
An old friend, years ago, in a Con law class, when someone suggested that sincerity counted, pointed out that “Hitler was sincere.”

I long for the days that we had “tom boy” girls and “effeminent” boys. Both were accepted by children and adolescents with no drama/problems/therapists.
I was one of the tomboy girls when I was young. I was bored with all the traditional “feminine” pursuits like playing with dolls and wearing frilly pink dresses – instead, I played sports and wore T-shirts and shorts. I also preferred reading about boys in books because boys got to go on adventures and do fun things while girls just stayed at home, and yes, I told my parents that I wished I had been born a boy. I eventually grew out of all that and am now so, so happy that I’m a woman because I can’t imagine being anything else. If gender reassignment had been available when I was young and I had gone through that to become a “male”, my life would have been ruined and destroyed.
And it’s people like you were who are the target. That’s all this insanity is.
I had much the same experiences. Also went through a period of wanting to be s boy. Utterly glad I’m as old as I am. For more reasons than one.
I still contend all of this transgender talk will have a big payoff. In 10 years we’ll be on the front lines of the freakshow when all of these children and gender dysphorics recant their transgender beliefs. Bottom and top reconstructive surgery should be pretty lucrative… gawking at the teary eyed freaks will be glorious. Joseph Conrad called it, “the fascination of the abomination.”
There’s no political faction actually against this beleif. If the body is nothing and thr mind is everything then liberals are at least consistent. ‘Conservative’ factions accept all that grotesque gnosticism except its most recent one, and they’ll accept transgenderism in a few years too.
After all, genetics can’t affect behavior, that’s taboo no matter how evident. The jump from race isn’t real to sex isn’t real isn’t a jump at all, it’s the same conclusion of the same presupposition.
Any colorblind Conservative is the same as a gender blind liberal, only the conservative is too dumb to understand the link.
Reinforcing a mentally ill man that he is indeed actually a woman is no different than telling a dying 60lb eating-disorder sufferer that, yes, they still look too fat to everyone one else, too.
