Tonight we present the first official episode of All in the Family, which aired in January 1971. However, there also was an original pilot in 1968. And here’s the 2nd pilot from 1969.
Your most original tips from the past 24 hours are much appreciated!

I learned a new word today, courtesy of the “Canadian Press”
“Quebec sees violent end of the week with two suspected femicides”
https://www.timescolonist.com/national-news/quebec-sees-violent-end-of-the-week-with-two-suspected-femicides-5226168
I looked up femicide and the reason to use it would be because the person intentionally killed the other person because they are a female.
I guess that might be another descriptor for honor killing.
Islam Nation won’t like that.
Whatchoo gonna do bout dat, Bernie Farber?

Here’s an oldie mouldy SF flick, Beyond the Time Barrier:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uw6mqb73BcY
It’s rather cheesy, though it’s not quite 1-1/4 hours long. It’s the sort of thing that my father and I would stay up late to watch on TV while I was still in school.
The design of the F-102 Delta Dagger interceptor that’s shown in the movie makes one wonder if it might have been influenced by the Avro Arrow.
F-102 Delta Dagger flew for the first time five years before the Arrow, so if anything the influence went the other way.
Correct, and note that the F-102 was developed from the XF-92, which flew in 1948.
Delta wings were all the rage back then – note the Gloster Javelin and Dassault Mirage, both of which pre-date the Arrow.
Also Saab 35 Draken… probably the most beautiful jet of that generation.

Thank you for the correction, gentlemen.
That new country, the one we will be forming real soon.
What shall it look like?
The lack of “leadership” is not actually a negative right now.
For as the Truckers demonstrated,if you want something done right..Do it yourself.
Which we will soon be forced to do,in the face of unrelenting stupidity from Ottawa and our Provincial Career politicians.
Read up on the 5 laws of stupidity.
Then figure out how you can construct a civil society, that can withstand waves of parasites and weapons grade stupidity…
The American Constitution and the Swiss Canton System both appeal to me.
More importantly.
The lessons learned from Can Ahh Duhs collapse.
We have watched in horror for decades as welfare and theft have gutted a once promising nation.
The Big Government Experiment has been run.
A terrible idea, never to be used again.
Individual rights and the right to be left alone..Cannot exist in a Welfare/Big Government State.
5th generation civil servants?
Political dynasties?
Well they got the nasties part right.
What shall we do differently?
Should our militia be mostly staffed with retirees and volunteers?
Or shall we copy the Swiss..where every able body is the militia?
Cause one thing has never changed,if we create a wealthy orderly civil society,it must be protected.
For nothing attracts freeloaders greater, than pools of unguarded wealth.
That relates to my problem with western separation. We gotta defend it. Look at the riches we have. Oil, uranium, potash farmland clean water forest. I am missing a few things. If we separate the Americans will invade never mind China. They would have already but are smart enough to not want Quebec
An old friend of my Dad told me years ago….. this part of the world has riches and so few people we should be the most affluent citizens on earth. Yet here we are.
And for the record. I support western separation. We just need to figure out some details. And my wet dream is Justin’s legacy the break up of Canada.
Jeff K…..I have been saying what your father’s old friend said for decades now. The country has been plundered by socialist politicians ever since WW2.
The west has already waited too long to leave, Jeff. We now have the elite’s woke/globalist cancer riddled throughout our entire body, too.
No offense, but ” We just need to figure out some details.” made me LOL. One of the grandest understatements I’ve ever heard, and in today’s political and social circuses, that’s saying a hell of a lot.
That said, I would absolutely love to be proven wrong. Who knows, maybe one day we will see an actual conservative emerge from the shadows to lead an actual Albertan conservative party to save the day. Trump proved damn near anything is possible these days.
Have a great Sunday.
Will you guys just vote and leave so that my family and I can have a decent place to live when this all goes down. I’d move there now if you would just separate.
Ross McKitrick: The 2030 emissions plan: Canada’s gift to Putin
The sad reality is that the federal government does not care what its climate plans will cost people

You think inflation is something new?
Between the first pilot and the first episode the amount of money they gave Lionel for flowers went from 50 cents to a buck.
Something happened this past week with food inflation. The price of food has increased substantially, very recently. It’s as if Loblaws sat back (on their price increases) and this week said “screw it” and raised them big-time.
There is probably not a major corporation that won’t manipulate these growing hard times to try and maximize profits.
An Applebee’s exec was recently fired for recommending they lower their employees wages because many Americans will soon be desperate enough to take ANY kind of job. I suspect the only reason he was canned was because his words made it out of the boardroom.
By offering to buy gold from Russian banks at a fixed price of 5000 rubles per gram, the Bank of Russia has both linked the ruble to gold and, since gold trades in US dollars, set a floor price for the ruble in terms of the US dollar.
https://www.bullionstar.com/blogs/ronan-manly/russian-ruble-relaunched-linked-to-gold-and-commodities-rt-com-q-and-a/
Right now one side is playing chess and the other side is half-playing checkers.
Regardless of Putin being evil or right or wrong or anything, he is certainly much smarter than the vegetables running Western countries now.
Fixed price of gold works until it doesn’t. Ask the Americans. They tried it from 1933 to 1971.

“Tonight we present the first official episode of All in the Family,”
Hard pass. Exhibit A in the fundamental transformation of American television into a vessel for Marxist indoctrination.
Norman Lear meant the series to be mockery and derision of what’s now referred to as the “deplorables”. What he didn’t expect was that Archie Bunker would become a folk hero.
I didn’t know it at the time, but in light of historical events that transpired since that debut, I’ve come to the conclusion that you are absolutely correct.
I blame my youthful ignorance of geopolitics for my failure to grasp the intent of such programming. I was only 7 years old when the first pilot came out.
Wasn’t sure if I should warn Canadians about the urgent climate crisis or post the terrible problems in the movie industry as a result of the Grammys being moved to Las Vegas.
“The move has caused the action-packed weekend to descend into chaos because “no one wants to go to that gross ass town,” a music flack, who is not attending, told us.”
Las Vegas. A gross ass town…
“Stylists are having meltdowns because there are no expert tailors like LA, and they have to lug couture gowns and tuxedos through smoky casinos that smell bad,” the first source said.
The stylists are melting down…having to lug…
“Amid music people problems — artists are also having to scale back their entourages due to limited credentials this year and there will be a serious shortage of big music label parties.”
Scaling back the entourage. Oh the horrors…
“People are stressed and frazzled running up and down the strip. There are multiple conferences going on, a big poker event and getting luxury cars for artists has been a disaster,” one source told Page Six.
You can’t get a luxury car in Las Vegas? What has happened to the world?
https://pagesix.com/2022/04/01/grammy-weekend-in-las-vegas-is-turning-into-a-nightmare/
Forget the climate crisis. It’s not important. A few ice shelves chipping off, sea level rise destroying New York and Miami, polar bears eating penguins because of melting sea ice…but nothing like Las Vegas and its stinky casinos.
Steve, you are factually incorrect regarding polar bears eating penguins…..Everyone knows that Polar Bears cannot eat Penguins* as they cannot get the wrappers off.
*Penguin – UK chocolate bar….
I did know it’s a long drive to the store, but did not know the wrappers are tough to come off.
There are indeed Arctic penguins. Climate Barbie told us so. They look remarkably like puffins, by the way.
Steve from Rockwood, You’re witty today! Applause! Hahaha!
Btw: where’s Rockwood?
You too, Haha, Addolff.
Where is Rockwood? Other than in the center of the universe? West of Acton, Ontario. But closer to Speyside say than Limestone.
Where’s Acton, Ontario? 🙂
You go to Toronto and turn left. Drive for 86 km. When you find yourself between a corn field on the right and soy beans on the left, keep going until you pass the deserted gas station. It’s your next right 🙂
Okay, thanks, you seem Canadian, I was just curious because the internet indicates…..
“There are 17 places in the world named Rockwood.
In some countries the place can be found more than once. For example America. America has the highest number of places called Rockwood, spread accross 16 regions. The majority of the cities named Rockwood can be found above the equator. The northern most place is in Maine, U.S.A. The southern most place is in the region of Eastern Cape in South Africa.”
Have a nice Sunday!
It sounds like a place from the Flintstones.
Shouldn’t that read Limehouse?
If only I gave a frack about the Grammys or any other entertainment industry circle jerk.
I have been enjoying this channel for many months now and thought others here may also appreciate how well produced, current and packed with quality info their clips regularly are. Here are two recent examples…

https://www.breitbart.com/environment/2022/04/03/u-n-chief-guterres-acts-to-ensure-private-companies-obey-climate-orders/
The only saving grace is that she is so incompetent that she will likely screw this up
And one more reason to pray Putin nukes NYC.
I remember I was supposed to like that show when I was a young man, old boy. I never did. I thought it started as biased and stupid as MASH finished. Weird, I guess, but I hated being preached to all my life and still do.
My father, a WWII vet, used to giggle like a schoolgirl over both All in The Family and Sanford and Son. In a world that was slowly leaving his generation behind, I think he saw a bit of himself in both Archie and Fred.
Enjoying watching these shows together was one of the very few things we had in common.
The first episode feels like a play.

The original original pilot for All In The Family aired in 1965 and is called ‘Til Death Do Us Part. Archie Bunker is an American version of its central character, Alf Garnett.
When I was finishing my first master’s degree, one of my fellow grad students was an Aussie. He didn’t like Archie Bunker as he figured AB was a rip-off of Alf Garnett.
Why did Canada bomb Libya?
Does anyone remember?
Tinfoil, or…?
https://millenium-state.com/blog/2019/05/03/the-dinar-gold-the-real-reason-for-gaddafis-murder/
“The gold dinar: a groundbreaking initiative
In 2009, Colonel Gaddafi, then President of the African Union, suggested to the States of the African continent to switch to a new currency, independent of the American dollar: the gold dinar.
The objective of this new currency was to divert oil revenues towards state-controlled funds rather than American banks. In other words, to stop using the dollar for oil transactions. Countries such as Nigeria, Tunisia, Egypt and Angola were ready to change their currencies. Unfortunately in March 2011, the NATO-led coalition began a military intervention in Libya in the name of freedom….”

A few years ago, there was an article in Science, published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, that claimed the same thing. The focus was on a researcher who’d “crossed the floor” and was a part-time runner, using that person as evidence that there was no difference.
So, if it appears to be supported by the AAAS, it might be right, eh?

It was strange watching the first 2 attempts at All in the Family. They weren’t bad, but the actors chosen for Gloria and Meathead seemed uneasy in their roles and lacked the spontaneity that was in the series. Maybe the bugs were finally worked out by the time the show eventually went on the air.
It was obvious that Norman Lear didn’t think much of “deplorables” like Archie at first, trying to make him into someone to be laughed at and not with. I don’t think Lear counted on the show becoming popular not because the audience liked to see Archie pilloried, but because it spoke to those same “deplorables”, someone they identified with.
As the show went on, I think Lear finally understood that as, in many of the later episodes, Archie was portrayed more sympathetically.
