EU leaders have announced their intention to collectively rearm and become autonomous in food, energy and military hardware in a Versailles declaration that described Russia’s war as “a tectonic shift in European history”.
It seems that, eventually, Donald Trump will be proven right on almost everything.
What, that hasn’t happened already?
My first thoughts exactly upon seeing the article.

I think in a year or two we might well look at Vlad as the savior of the west. The EU rearming, Canada declaring it will spend more on defense, western nations driven back onto Trump’s track of energy independence, etc, etc. Not to mention the Empire That Never Ends gets its pinions clipped. Of course, the unthinking Russia haters will continue screeching Pootin bad, Pootin bad, but there’s nothing like the prospect of an imminent hanging to wake up even the most venal politician.
Canada can’t afford the government it has, and any defense contract has to be corrupt and go through Quebec, so whatever we eventually get won’t be worth crap. The first thing France and Canada would have to buy are stones for all the coward Frenchmen who need them.
If only there had been an opportunity to reduce energy dependence on the Russians. No possibility of LNG imports, pipeline from Israel, keeping nuclear plants open.
Europe should tell the Biden admin to go fuck itself for squashing the EastMed pipeline, or maybe buy a couple of pieces of Hunter’s art.
I’m still unclear on why the EU needs Biden’s approval to go ahead with the Israeli pipeline. He needs them more than they need him. The proof? They’ve already done a 180 on both energy independence and rearming…it’ll take awhile, but I really believe this is a major course correction for Europe, in spite of the latest dumping on Poland and Hungary. Again, in that case, the EU and NATO need Poland and Hungary as buffers.
If Trump gets back in, there’s be a reckoning.
If only the skinflint Germans realized that they actually had to pay the Russians for their oil.
If only the globalists didn’t need a scapegoat for the consequences of all their corruption.

Maybe some BIG French defense contractors will get filthy rich? Meh. And there’s not nearly enough flyover country in the whole EU to MAN their army with MEN … real MEN … not the low-sparking high heeled boys with matching handbags
There are some real men left there. They’re waiting for Putin to do what he has to do, so they can get started with rebuilding.
So THATS where the $14B in Ukrainian aid is going? Rebuilding? Not into 100k new stinger missiles?
Geopolitics. Everyone is using this war to their advantage. The globalist EU is using this conflict to further their United States Of Europe agenda. This is why the hysteria keeps escalating. They need the population in fear.
So no gas from Russia? Where is the energy coming from? No coincidence US is poised to be largest LNG exporter with new LNG courier ships being constructed on a scale not seen since the WW2 liberty ships.
No coal from Russia? No problem. Australia and the US can easily supply the missing 15% Russia exports to the world. In fact for the US, their coal exports have stopped a slow decline and are now in the process of getting back their market share through exports.
No NATO. No problem. The EU army will take over.
Higher energy costs. No problem. It makes wind and solar that much more less reliant on taxpayer subsidies and more easy to dupe the peons as a realistic alternative to fossil fuels.
Everyone gets a little of everything on their wish lists.
All this is a grifters dream, and the politicians are lining up to get theirs.
The only problem is pushing to far with the greed.
A country with 6000 nukes, 40000 tons of chemical and biological weapons and nothing to lose is a scary thought indeed.
Europe as a new Superpower.
Perhaps even the top dog.
Not something I want to see in my remaining lifetime and my family comes from there.
Wanna bet the net result of ALL their words of action is less than nothing? Incompetent fools the whole lot. Energy East pipeline would have given the EU a good measure of energy security. Developing Alberta’s huge coal resource would have given the EU energy security. Building LNG trade with Canada whether the gas came from NB, Que or the West would have given the EU energy security. ALL of that could have been finished in the last decade! Instead it was all intentionally obstructed including those EU watermelon buffoons speaking high & mighty words to their media congregation. They have a big hand in this monster economic mess. Should all be fired and charged with gross negligence causing death and harm.
Even if the EU leaders are serious how many years will it take for the EU achieve self-defense independence? And will Vlad wait for that to happen or will he attack sooner rather than later?
No he won’t. I just laugh when I hear about Germany wanting to wean itself off Russian oil by 202X.

Just another 4 dimensional chess move by the Soviet (strike that), European Union to distance itself from the declining US administration and exert more control on it’s own population. They have effectively now revived the Iron Curtain only moved it much further East, a wider buffer zone for their collective benefit.
