An interview with John Mearsheimer – For years, the political scientist has claimed that Putin’s aggression toward Ukraine is caused by Western intervention. Have recent events changed his mind?
My analysis – Russians are pigs and kill people by the tens of millions. Minorities hate the Russians and want nothing to do with them. The murder of minorities happens again and again. Half my father’s cousins in Russia were killed in the 30 to 40 years after the revolution because they spoke the wrong language. They were all pardoned by Kruschev but being dead, they had no opinion on the matter. Did I mention that Russians are pigs.
scar, I have watched the world turn for a long time now and there are pigs and there are pigs. We have em, America has em, the UK has em, North Korea has em. You might want to reflect on just who is a “pig”. A review of the 20th century will put communist Russia way up there but they are not even close to other nations as “pigs”.
Hey VOWG, just wondering if Hunter Biden is an Oligarch?
I mean he did “business with the Russians, the Ukrainians, the Chinese and any other SOB with money in their pocket.
Asking for a…, no just wondering!
Hi, Colonialidiot, King Johan I, whatever your real name is. We’re talking about now, March, 2022, not March, 1932. Yes, communists are BAD, really bad. Good thing the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991. Here’s a question for you: do you want to seek the truth or revenge? If it’s revenge, you’re sadly not going to get it. Western governments will make damn sure of that. Western governments are actually working harder at destroying your life, your sense of peace and prosperity for you and your children, not exacting revenge on Russia. Ask yourself, who is the real communist, tyrant, totalitarian now? If you want truth, you’ve come to the right place, but you must first set your bias aside. Can you do that?
First, hate to break it to you shortbus but scar and I are two different people. Unlike you we don’t suffer from multiple personality disorder.* Scar and I often don’t see eye to eye politically for example during the last election (although we do have similar taste in cars). Also, I take offence when he slanders pigs. Pigs are great, they give us bacon and keep mooselimbs away, russians only bring miserly. Pigs deserve better than to be compared to russians.
Second, you’re a halfwit and as such you do get to talk down to your betters. You don’t get to lecture your betters. But since I am feeling charitable towards mentally deficient I will answer your question.
“Truth or revenge?”
I know the truth. And if I did not, it is a safe bet I would not be asking someone as limited as you, to share it with me. Revenge? That would be sweet, but there is no amount of suffering that can be inflicted on russians that would adequately paid them back for all the misery they inflicted on everyone around them. You could Dalek the whole lot and you still would not come close. So I settle for safety from them. Safety for all civilized people and all those who want to ally themselves with Western Civilization (aka Civilization). I want russia isolated, I want russia bankrupt, I want russia shunned and suffering. The civil war that is brewing between mooselimbs (about a third of russian army conscripts) and ethnic russians will be glorious and it can’t come soon enough. I explained why I despise them, and everything about them, many times so I will to be getting into it here. You’re just not worth it. There, consider my question answered.
As for enemies domestic, or other foreign enemies. I don’t need to stop hating Pootin in order to hate Potato or Xi or Biden. I got plenty of hate to spare.
* Also, why are all your personalities always retarded Angel/ray/Ahmed/default/Doug/some-other-low-IQ-cretin? Why can’t you have one personality with an above room temperature IQ?
Dog
the COLON isn’t Bi-ASSed, he’s just an ignorant ASSHOLE, nothing more
The Japanese were considered “pigs” and their leadership certainly earned the title at the time. We “interned” their North American relatives as “pigs” and then paid the children that survived 60 years later reparations. No one calls them pigs today.
Calling for reparations for all black people because slavery in the 1800’s from all white people doesn’t gain allot of traction either. In fact if the Irish demanded reparations from the British for 300 years of repression and mass starvation it would be laughed at.
So hate on, but siding with George Soros, the EU, the Democrats and a whole host of totalitarian freaks bent on your Social Credit enslavement is not the answer to your problem. If you’re in it with the Liberal Party and their MSM propaganda you not helping yourself or anyone else.
Finally a proven way of earning money online. Yes! you can earn more than you think only by working just a few hours from home regularly. I have been doing this job for like a few weeks and my last weekly payment was exactly 2537 dollars.

The most dangerous threat Canadians face today is a liberal dictatorship calling itself an elected government.
Exactly.
VOWG…
That is fer Damned sure.
He’ll likely threaten to send our vaunted Woke/Diverse Cdn Forces to join in the fight… 2 CF Cessnas and 250 guys with worn out SMg’s…If things get dire, he could send in Toronto ‘s Mounted Police force flying a Rainbow flag….that’ll surely scare the bejesus outa the Russkies eh.??
The truly Light Brigade
…and what the F is that Moron doing in Europe anyway..??
Putin does not need Western intervention to invade the rest of the country he invaded in the past.
Did anyone say anything when he invaded Georgia?
Anyway, are we watching Taiwan?
If Putin had invaded the country to his north instead of west he’d be done by now.
“invaded” he could just walk in, his biggest fight would be with the Chinese for dibs on the goodies.
Well Russian aggression can’t be blamed entirely on the western world, but regarding Ukraine it’s been a slush fund of laundered money for how long? The dems and repugs have made a great deal of money through their policies on that nation, my guess is Russia is tired of the west financially reaping the windfall at Russia’s expense. If it kills the deep states free money, well that is just a perk. I feel great empathy for both the people of Russia and the Ukraine, but the people need to start demanding governments free of western corruption thus nothing is going to change.
Russian Imperialism, Incursions and Ukrainian Democracy
1700’s – Tsarist Russia
1922 – USSR (Ukraine)
1945 – Iron Curtain
1953 – East Germany
1956 – Hungary
1968 – Czechoslovakia
1979 – Afghanistan
1980 – Polish Dockyards Suppression
1994 – Chechnya
2008 – Georgia
2014 – Ukraine (Crimea and Donbass)
2014 – Free Democratic elections in Ukraine (originally scheduled for 2015 but accelerated after the President fled to Russia)
2019 – Free Democratic elections in Ukraine
2022 – Ukraine, again
Looks like the urge existed before Putin.
@rroe – You also forgot these……
Invasions of Russia:
– Mongol invasion of Kievan Rus’ (1223–1236), a series of invasions that resulted in the Rus states becoming vassals of the Golden Horde.
– Russo-Crimean Wars (1571), an Ottoman invasion that penetrated Russia and destroyed Moscow.
– Polish–Muscovite War (1609–1618), Poland gained Severia and Smolensk.
– Ingrian War (1610–1617), a Swedish invasion which captured Novgorod and Pskov.
– Swedish invasion of Russia (1707), an unsuccessful Swedish invasion.
– French invasion of Russia (1812), an unsuccessful invasion by Napoleon’s French Empire and its allies.
– Crimean War (1853–1856), a series of conflicts between the Ottoman Empire, the British Empire, France, Sardinia and the Russian Empire, including an allied invasion of the Crimean Peninsula.
– Japanese invasion of Sakhalin (1905), an invasion and annexation by the Japanese.
Eastern Front (World War I) (1914–1918), Russia was forced to cede Ukraine, Belarus, and the Baltic states to Germany as the Russian Empire collapsed.
– Caucasus campaign (1914–1918), a series of conflicts between the Russian Empire, its various successor states, and the Ottoman Empire.
– Allied intervention in the Russian Civil War and the contemporaneous Polish–Soviet War (1919–1921), the Polish occupation of Belarus and West Ukraine.
– Japanese intervention in Siberia (1918–1922), an occupation of the Russian Far East by Japanese soldiers during the Russian Civil War.
– Operation Barbarossa (1941), an invasion led by Nazi Germany that started the Eastern Front (World War II).
– Continuation War (1941–1944), a German-Finnish invasion of the Soviet Union, as part of World War II.
– Kantokuen (1941), an aborted plan for a major Japanese invasion of the Russian Far East during World War II.
– Operation Unthinkable (1945), a proposed contingency plan for an Anglo-American invasion of the Soviet Union developed by the British Chiefs of Staff during the later stages of World War II.
– War of Dagestan (1999), a repulsed Chechen invasion of Dagestan.
I agree.
Those add to my point. The region’s history is full of bloody conflict – not caused by the West.
I see a string of imperialist aggressions by Russian dictators and monarchs.
I see a string of pushbacks by their neighbors.
I see the German aggressions of WW1 and WW2.
But I don’t see a justification for Russia invading a free people that wants to align themselves with a different country than Russia.
@rroe – “But I don’t see a justification for Russia invading a free people that wants to align themselves with a different country than Russia.”
That is a catch phrase, not at all in line with the geopolitical reality with the argument made by John Mearsheimer the topic of this thread.
In a nutshell, agreements were made as the Cold War ended, the Warsaw Pact was dissolved and NATO then broke those agreements. Afterwards the newly imposed Ukrainian government of 2014 (overthrow funded by the Progressive west) created and broke the Minsk agreements concerning the Russian speaking natives of the Donbass region.
Like Putin or not, I don’t, it’s not hard to understand why he would be pissed and concerned about his own sovereignty. Especially with reports yesterday in the US Senate that biological labs indeed exist in the Ukraine “and we are concerned Russia will get their hands on them” which begs the question why the concern (?) Russia has labs and can make vaccines. Also the fact that western allies including Canadians have been training Ukrainian troops in the Ukraine. The Azov neo-nazi’s proven a real thing aside. That’s NATO troops next door, a defined breach of trust.
If you want to discuss western interventions in other countries it’s not hard to find lists with many times the volume you listed, simply search “countries bombed by the US since WW2”. Or search “South American countries invaded by the US”.
Is Afghanistan free today, or Iraq, or Libya? No in fact they are worse off sh*tholes than they were before getting “saved”. They are in fact the breeding grounds of global terrorism for the likes of ISIS which thrived after of Libya was destroyed – “we came, we saw, he died, cackle cackle”.
Look at who is cheer-leading this war. All the same people and MSM that Conservatives have been screaming about “fake news” and globalist elites for the last 10 years. They’ve lied and manipulated every time they open their mouths – but this time they aren’t lying. Yea ok, you can take that to the bank.
No agreements were ever offered
None
Zero.
Zip.
Russian keep saying so. Lots lap it up. Nevertheless, never happened.
@Paul C – “No agreements were ever offered”
You may argue on the semantics over “agreements” or “assurances”, but that doesn’t change how the Russians view the situation. In fact they are putting their right foot forward on it, whether you or I agree, or agree to disagree. I guess the best anyone can do now is tell them “we didn’t mean it, na na” and hope they’ll just pick up and go home. Or decide to not negotiate and let the war drag on and let Ukraine become a no-mans land of continued warfare for the unforeseeable future.

“– Mongol invasion of Kievan Rus’ (1223–1236), a series of invasions that resulted in the Rus states becoming vassals of the Golden Horde.”
Yes, and russians have been mentally Mongols every since. Read: “Russia Under the Old Regime” by Richard Pipes
“Mongol invasion of Kievan Rus’ (1223–1236),”
I like Mongolians they live in those little round yurts, ride around on little horses and catch little rabbits with Hawks or Falcons or some sort of Eagle type things. Seem pretty damned friendly anyway.
So where were all these “un-mongoloided Ukrainians” in 1223–1236 I wonder?
No, but meatily, especially in their understanding of power, economic or military at every level of their society from within family unit to president, and everywhere in between they are Mongols. Mongol conquest whipped out what was before and reshaped them to this day. That is why when Siberians look at Kievan Russ for their ancestral origins it is a lie, they should be looking at the Mongol steppes instead.
Ukraine was shaped differently and subsequent tragedies visited upon them made them into a completely distinct people, with different cultural and civilizational allegiances than the Siberian horde.
Don’t forget 1979: invasion of Afghanistan after an orchestrated coup and the installation of a puppet president the year before.
So pretty much what the Americans did 22 years later. History doesn’t repeat, but it rhymes. No one’s hands are free of blood these days. Not even those of Canadian governments.
One reason the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan was to move itself closer to access to a warm water port. It wouldn’t have taken much to cross the border into Iran and, better yet, blockade the Strait of Hormuz and control the oilfields in the Gulf states.
Not really although both were stupid to do so, but for entirely different reasons. One was unchecked russian imperialism, the other was American naivete. Americans did fine with the fighting, the idea of “nation building” was the strike of retardation on cosmic scale.
UN.
Americans, and 50 countries.
Big-a-roo difference
“1980 – Polish Dockyards Suppression” – no that was all Polish communists.
1945 – 1950 campaign of extermination against anti communist forces in Poland, civil war, occupation, concertation camps.
1945 – 1989 forcing entire Eastern Europe to accept world’s most retarded economic system in the world, thus sentencing entire generations to decades of misery.
19th century, occupation of Poland, ethnic cleansing, mass deportations of ethnic Poles to Siberia and Kazakhstan, mass pogroms of Jews.
And the list goes on and on and on.
We teased the bully too much, now he is lashing out. It’s all our fault! Oh my!
LOL.
So this guy is basically using the “root causes” argument.
(Just like Justin Trudeau taking the side of the Boston Marathon Bomber)
Were you the “class clown” during European history, or just asleep the entire time?
That is exactly correct Chris. As I have said in the past the only way secure from Kremlin Ukraine conflicts with russian interests, is if russian interests include invasion of Ukraine.
But there is more. This war is stupid like all wars started by Siberian Mongols since the 90s. A war because they can’t deal with rejection. Because they are incapable of asking themselves honest questions like “Why are russians always poor?” Or “Why is every famous russian leader always a tyrant?”
Pootin takes power, jump starts war in Chechenia.
Mongols love him.
Pootin’s popularity fades, so he invades Georgia.
Mongols adore him.
Pootin’s popularity fades, so he invades Crimea.
Mongols spontaneously orgasm.
Pootin’s popularity fades again, so he invades Ukraine.
Except now the russian bear has stuck his dick in a hornet’s nest. Now shit is real and suppliers of bodybags to Siberian Army can’t keep up with orders (just joking, they don’t pick up their fallen comrades, that’s not the Siberian way). It is a stupid war. It was supposed to be a quick war to keep Mongols happy. And now Pootin does not know what to do. For he remembers what happened to the last Tzar who lost the war. so he pushes and pushes throwing more Siberian meat into the grinder. If the valiant heroes can hold on long enough this will be the end of Pootin. And Ukraine will never be peaceful under Siberian occupation.
The most dangerous threats the West faces today are its cowardice and the extent to which it has been compromised.
Clowns who claimed they were COVID experts are now Putin experts.
@RedPop – “Clowns who claimed they were COVID experts are now Putin experts.”
Indeed and they are still shilling for the CBC and begging for an end to free speech and property rights in Canada.
SPAM alert: Heather is infesting several threads.
Way back (a few days ago) when Russia was fighting the Ukraine I leaned one way.
Today as it’s the New World Order globalists fighting Russia, my concerns are rather different.
Good grief, the article was tedious, but I put that down to the uneducated questions the interviewer asked. I also see the same tendentious tedium in the comments here.
Guys, let’s break out of the emotional and ideological blinkers the media are putting on our heads and let our intellects chew the bit. First, and foremost, are the Russians committing blood-curdling masacres upon the poor innocent pregnant Ukrainian puppy-loving women? Well, the Ukranian President says so, but he would, wouldn’t he, as he wants NATO to come over and do his fighting. Maybe NATO should have told him to stop baiting the bear, but the War Party egged the Ukranians on to do just that.
We in the West are being subjected to a concerted propaganda campaign by the War Party. Do you really want a nuclear war? There will be no clinical No-Fly Zone enforced over Ukraine against the Russians. Russia is not Iraq and how well did that go. Remember the lies before you swallow.
@Robert of Ottawa – “Do you really want a nuclear war?”
That really seems to go over allot of people’s heads like it’s not even a possibility. Then there’s the “we could survive a nuclear war” crowd. Russia see’s it’s very existence at stake here, and they have a long history of a “scorched earth” policy to win the day when they think they need it.
A few Russian tanks get bogged down in the spring mud and so many people seem to assume that is “all they got”. Well there is a hell of a lot more things in Russia’s arsenal to make life miserable for everyone concerned, and few it seems are taking seriously the newly formed Russian global alliances, economically and militarily, that is cutting out and leaving the west to its own demise.
Paul
Ukraine is begging for more dated and dilapidated Mig 29’s because they are winning this war, especially the air war, that’s why they want NATO to create a NO fly zone over the Ukraine. Don’t winners always beg to be bailed out.
And then there are the COLONs, they live in Canada, butt still function like a stupid Pohlakk. And sorry to the normal Polish people, and Canadians of Polish heritage
Facepalm, Polish MiG-29s are neither dated nor dilapidated. They probably represent above average combat aircraft in NATO inventory. They have been successively upgraded and are about a decade newer than for example CF-18s or multiple versions of F-16s flown by various Euro NATO members. But of course you are entitled to your usually uniformed low IQ opinions.
BTW has you mail order bride from Wuhan arrive yet? What happened to that?
“First, and foremost, are the Russians committing blood-curdling masacres …”
One could ask this question to about 2 million Ukrainian refugees who crossed into Poland Hungary, Moldova, Slovakia or Romania often with no more than the cloths on their backs.
This whole shitshow is brought to you by those who want to distract you from the real problems they are creating, and some in here are too stupid to grasp that.
The sitting US president threatened the American people with nuclear weapons. That is how out of control there government is.
