Tragically, serious and violent crime involving firearms remains a reality in our communities. In 2022-23, Public Safety Canada will continue taking bold action to fulfill new and existing commitments on firearms. That will include introducing measures to crack down on high capacity magazines, protect Canadians from domestic firearms violence, raise penalties for gun smuggling and trafficking, and bolster the capacity of enforcement agencies to detect and disrupt the flow of illegal firearms.
“You don’t need an AR-15 to shoot a deer.” No, no you don’t.
The Turdeau government (supported by the NDP) is “clamping down on gun crime”. What dopes this mean?
– reduced sentences for those that commit crimes using guns
– earlier parole for those convicted of crimes while using guns.

My guns are well behaved. I raised them well and the old fashioned way…a good slap on their stock might not be acceptable these days but now I’m proud to say that my grown up guns have never killed anyone.
I see these new parents now always negotiating with their young guns shooting Willy nilly all over the place…very upsetting when your trying to have a peaceful meal in a restaurant, shopping at the mall or attending a school meeting.
At least give them a time out in the cabinet. Jezz!

Most of our U.S. hunting clients are Republicans. But a few Democrats have shown up over the years.
Three years ago – before the Wuhan flu border closures killed our outfitting business – one of them told me exactly that: You don’t need an AR-15 to shoot a deer.
“I guess that’s true enough.” I replied. And just as a smug little smile started to settle on his face, I added, “But most of the people who are telling us that are also saying that we don’t need to shoot deer.”
Epiphany moment.
Because confiscating legal guns will remove gun crime, I guarantee you. Yes, he practically said that.

Been watching their ads on TV the last coupla months. Makes me want to vomit in Technicolour. However, I always sing along with the little ditty at the end: “Fuck Justin Trudeau”.

Semi automatic weapons specifically magazine fed rifles are used in less than one percent of all murders. They are used in general crimes about the same percentage.

Maybe not but I’ve shot a number of moose over the years, put a lot of meat on our table with a Belgian FN 7.62 mm, here in Alaska. I expect an AR-15 would be a pretty dependable deer rifle. 😉

I would. It’s more about shot placement than caliber. As long as the bullet will penetrate to the heart or break the spine or cause bleed out it’s enough. 5.56 would have no problem doing that.

Normal people wouldn’t do it with anything less than a 30-06 or .308, even a .30-30 is very questionable.
I didn’t say it would be my first choice, I just said I think it can be done. When I have hunted moose I’ve used my .308. In Canada .303 used to be the most common. It still might be.
In Canada, back in the day, the .303 was common for plinking…at cinder blocks.
Them WW2 guns, like the 8mm Mauser, .303 British or 7.62x54R are all closer to the .308 in ballistic performance than the 5.56 or the .30-30.
I wouldn’t use one on a moose unless I was starving and it was the only gun I had, and even then, there are probably more efficient uses of the rifle.

you are at last count at least 4 times more likely to encounter the prime minister in blackface than you are to find an example of an AR-15 used in an actual crime.
and you can use an AR-15 pattern rifle to hunt dear if you are using the right calibre in a jurisdiction that allows it

That statement normally comes out of the mouth of stunned asses who think that an AR15 is somehow high powered instead of low powered. It’s a friggin .22. Back when I hunted that was to small to legally shoot deer and I’m sure it still is. The case was likely too short too. Almost all the prohibited weapons today are unusually low powered. Politicians are all idiots. They outlaw the least dangerous weapons. I owned a prohibited .22 revolver – barrel too short. But I would have no problem carrying a .45 auto in a coat pocket.
My radio station has been running this as an ad (message from the gov’t of Canada) regularly. Started immediately following the break-up of the convoy.
Why argue about hunting dear with AR15s? It’s freaking awesome for plenty of other small game, general plinking. It’s the rifle of choice for 3 gun. It’s customizable and widespread parts availability make it rifle of choice for practically anything.
The Turd and the Bliar claimed their OIC ban would not affect hunters and sport shooters. It’s the best sport shooter available. And give it was restricted, the OIC ONLY affected sport shooters. So they are lying in many respects. Also their “evidence” that all assault “style” guns must be banned is cabinet confidential and so super secret they even told Justice Gagnon to pound sand when she ask for a sealed copy. So I’m sure it doesn’t exist.

If you just figured that out, you’re a late starter. You need to understand that they have “valid” reasons for their lies, ‘they’ become much less safe when there are evil guns out there that might attack them. When they have plans to piss off the peasants, they need to ensure the peasants are not able to terminate them or their plans. I can put a spoiler, fat tires, and racing stripes on a Honda Civic, and that would make it a race style car, but it still doesn’t make it an actual race car. Besides as stated by others above, they are stupidly outlawing relatively small calibers, but my .338 Lapua, “could” do some real long range damage.
Also, before you might reply to me, please know, I stand to lose the right to own and shoot seven of those evil and black dangerous firearms, so I am as invested in this issue as anyone else is. They have been, and are, still lying about everything. They are just protecting, (or trying to protect) their own miserable skins. I’m getting on in years, and the older I get, the less life imprisonment will act as any kind of deterrent!
