February 14, 2022: Reader Tips

Before we delve into the regular post, I want to take a moment to acknowledge a rather significant milestone of Kate’s blog, Small Dead Animals. I don’t know if this is a lifetime achievement or just the latest iteration but it was rather cool to see the 50,000 figure crossed on the posting odometer. Thank you for everything you do, Kate!

Speaking of Kate, here’s a h/t from her of Prince performing at the SuperBowl a few years back.

At the start of this Valentine’s Day, we offer you a brief video about the history of this unique day of the year.

If this doesn’t make you smile and laugh then you need to contact Pfizer about getting an artificial injection of a sense of humour.

Late breaking: Last night Pat King made some rather derogatory comments about some of the livestreamers.  One of those he accused of being a “fed” was a YouTuber with the moniker VidStorm.  He published a rather heartfelt video this afternoon.  Pat King, to his credit, just published a sincere apology.  Good on you, Mr. King.  Hopefully it’ll inspire Justin Trudeau, Jagmeet Singh, Doug Ford, Jim Watson, Drew Dilkens, and a host of others.

Your sweetest tips of the past day are much appreciated.

Bonus: Here are the next two Faces of Protest portraits taken by Dan Aponte (on Facebook) :

  1. Trudeau is invoking the emergency act tomorrow. I expect they’ll start arresting some prominent social media folks and implement nationwide curfews tomorrow. Stay safe because it’s about to get real. This week will be historic and I doubt hair lisp will be pm by the end of it.

    1. Sadly once more I will be proven to have been right. Time to stop posting as we will never get through to the brain dead freaking Canadians.

    2. james – An American friend told me that a member of the Montreal Gazette was pushing for Jean Charest to lead the Conservatives. Yesterday I saw this headline in the Star – Centrist Conservatives may have found their champion in the battle for the soul of the party. Guess who they meant? The PCs in Ontario will think the Star is backing Charest. The Star will act like they like him and then he’ll be Hitler if he wins the race.

      1. The Conservatives usually have a liberal leader. In Charest they could have a real dues paying Liberal to run the Conservative Party.

  2. Congrats Kate. Absolutely the best!
Btw… what’s the story with this Pat King guy. I know nothing about him but I’ve heard some on our side look at him with, shall we say skepticism.

    1. I don’t know him personally. He’s a trucker from BC. A lot of people thinks he’s great …… he talks big and a lot, but at least he’s dependably pointed in the right direction. He’s probably doing more for freedom and the truckers than I am, so I’m for him too. Good to see him apologize.
BTW, Amazing Polly hit the four GiveSendGo managers low and hard a couple days ago. She evidently did some more research and came back yesterday with an apology. Good to see great people with small egos when needed.

  3. What will TD bank shares do tomorrow ? Drop like a rock or be propped up by the evil elites ( aka liberals ) ?

  4. If you are donating through that Christian funding site, a prayer might be in order:
// BREAKING: GiveSendGo, the crowdfunding website used by the Freedom Convoy, is now redirecting to the domain GiveSendGone[.]wtf. //

That’s since been fixed, but more to the point:
// A file allegedly containing tens of thousands of names of those who donated to the Freedom Convoy has also been leaked […] pics of drivers licenses, military IDs, passports, & other sensitive docs just days ago.
The Christian fundraising site GiveSendGo still left sensitive data accessible despite being warned of a security flaw //

    1. She is a dual citizen so it may be impossible to deny her entry to either country. I don’t know what the situation is with forcing quarantine.

      1. Ah, yes. Thanks Hob. It won’t work for me. She did say your country can’t deny you entry. So neither Canada nor the US can refuse her entry as a dual citizen.

  5. Prinz Dummkopf economics (again).

I drove from Edmonton to Fort St. John earlier today. Diesel fuel at SuperStore/Mobil was $1.46/litre, up a nickel from my previous trip three weeks ago. Where I refuelled at the west side Esso in Grande Prairie, it was $1.56, about a dime higher from last time, if I remember correctly.

The Safeway near where I live in Edmonton was clean out of grated parmesan, which I use when I make spaghetti carbonara (try it on popcorn instead of salt and butter!). I located several jars at the No Frills in Fort St. John.

    1. Like during my last trip, the truckers were well behaved, though there was one leadfoot who insisted that I didn’t deserve to be ahead of him on the highway.

I only saw one freedom gathering, a few chaps with a sign and some flags beside a pickup. There were more Canadian flags flying, though, and there was one with a “F*ck Trudeau” on display near FSJ.

As an aside, SiriusXM Channel 76/Symphony Hall paid tribute to the Super Bowl today by featuring music performed by Los Angeles and Cincinnati orchestras, alternating between them.

      1. Never mess with an aggressive truck driver. Let him through.
He may just be trying to get in that last hundred kilometers before his Electronic Log Book shuts him down for the day.

        1. I’ve long learned to give drivers like that lots of room, and I’m not just referring to truckers. If they want to risk getting a ticket or becoming an accident statistic, that’s their problem.

Fortunately, where I encountered the aforementioned leadfoot, the highway was twinned, so there was lots of space for the both of us.

  6. Can anyone tell me what the hell has happened to Roy Green ?

I tried listening for a while today and just about threw a hammer at the radio. He seems to be pro mandates, pro vaccine, and pro knocking protesters in the head.

He definitely seems to have changed since he got vaccinated and now he’s holier than the unclean people.

    1. Amazing what you can buy for $600-million, eh?

Adler, Green and their bosses at Chorus Entertainment or Global News, or whoever owns them now, never shied away from that federal government media “subsidy.”

    2. “:what the hell has happened to Roy Green ?”

Bought off. Ten years ago he was actually entertaining. Now he sounds like a missionary preaching to the savages. He sounds like everyone’s first wife.

    1. Reported the scumrat to Facebook for spreading hate speech. Suggest anyone on FB do the same

  7. This might be old news, but my wife pointed out to me that when she googled Small Dead Animals a warning is given beneath the top result: “this site may be hacked.” No idea what that’s all about, but I pass it on.

  8. Congratulations to Kate. SDA is a haven of sanity in crazy times. Thank you for your hard work and sense of fair play.

    1. While we’re talking about electrics.

EV Range Anxiety Solved By Two (2) Fast Chargers Along Alabama Interstate

      http://ace.mu.nu/archives/397622.php

Huge news. If you were thinking about taking your Electric Vehicle on a road trip through Alabama for a Gulf Coast vacation, but you suffer from EV range-anxiety, there are now two “fast charging” EV car chargers in Fort Payne, Alabama.

      Two.

      Woohoo!
