I took a phone call from a pollster on behalf of “the federal government” this afternoon. Not a party, mind you. The government.
I answered every question except the one on racial identity: they included agreement with Covid policies, major concerns, direction the country was headed in, and was I vaccinated? (Always answer “yes” to this question if you oppose mandates, because it runs counter to the narrative).
HONK.

We have the freedom to not answer any Liberal Party questions – for now…

There is no link, it was a phone poll. It was a heads up, if you will. Others may get the same one.
Can you share with us the caller name? Just so I don’t ignore it like all the other potential spam calls.
I’m fully vaccinated and not jabbed.
I will sometimes entertain a poll if I’m in the mood but I’m always ready to hang up if they’re too personal or argumentative.
NEVER assume they are anonymous. Years ago I was hanging out at the Union Hall and the operatives were talking about how they would call member’s homes, impersonating pollsters to see who they were really voting for.
A big problem IMHO is that people who want to be left alone and live their own life are under represented because we just hang up.

A one frame cartoon dated ca 2040 with a child asking, “Mommy, what part were you doing when the truckers won our freedom in 2022?”
Mommy could have a thought bubble (what she was really doing) and a speaking bubble. Readers fill in their ideas for responses.
The name that our phone is in isn’t ours, (my wife had it before we married), so if anyone calls who we don’t know, or who doesn’t immediately identify themselves as calling US, it’s “Sorry, no-one by that name here” – therefore we miss out on polls…darn.

Silence, then usually they try again and I repeat myself, or they thank me for my time.
One thing I’ve noticed, I’m not receiving the amount of calls as I have had in the past?
Same but different; I simply state that I don’t make ANY telephone contributions. Period. They always want to wiggle around that but if my suggestion to mail me a request gets rebuffed, end of conversation. Seems reasonable, right?
