  1. Ford needs to end it all. The psychological operation tactic being used is a temporary release before another restriction. In short, when the people complain, give them a carrot for a bit of time, then hit them with another more restrictive stick. It is still all about control. So while I would like to rejoice that Ford might have seen the light, I doubt it very much. The game is still on and we don’t control the board yet.

    2. Let’s be clear, Ford, Turdo, etc cannot NOT act with everything they can to win. They must do absolutely all they can even if it means illegal orders, they WILL DO IT.

      They know what they have done for the last 2 years will land them in court for years at the minimum (personally in court) if exposed, they know it will likely get them in jail for a very, very long time and if people are pizzed enough maybe hanging on the end of a rope. So they are afraid of that.

      More importantly, they are NOT the bosses. Their bosses do not follow laws at all, at least not any national laws. Their bosses don’t take kindly to failure. The carrot and the stick applies to Ford and Turdo much more than Ford/Turdo are trying to apply to us. Behave and they are in ‘power’ with money, misbehave and people go missing.

      I don’t subscribe to Ezra’s view that this can end peacefully, these dictators are going to go out with a bang and try to provoke or fake a sufficiently violent response to justify shooting.

      Stop appealing to our ‘leaders’ and start appealing to their minions, take their power structure away. It is the only chance for a peaceful resolution.

          Seems pretty harsh.
          Could be worse, maybe add a beating or 2, pepper spray in face, some broken bones, shot, solitary confinement in jail, maybe civil asset forfeiture, cancellation of Insurance and bank foreclosure of the truck loan or lease.

      Agreed , but with Ford reacting to the Ambassador Bridge issue by declaring an emergency it will only worsen the situation. If he was onside with freedom he would have come out and declared the COVID sham over.

      I grew up in that area and crossed the Ambassador Bridge many times. It is a very congested entrance/exit at both the Windsor and Detroit terminuses . On a good day there is always a backup . A new bridge under Harper was announced for that very reason. If the truckers want to blockade the bridge , it is easy , since the blockade can originate in two jurisdictions either the US or Canada.

      If you are going to pick a fight , do so where the terrain favours you … the Ambassador Bridge is definitely not that place.

    The reporting on this was minimal, but McGuinty granted Toronto Police war-time powers during that summit. It allowed police to arrest and detain anyone for anything. Hardly any blow back and the dumb voters put him back in office. I think Ford is dumb enough to do the same.

    1. And rarely reported is that there were no “war-time powers” for McGuinty to enact! He had no such authority.

      In fact, Ontario Ombudsman André Marin’s report focused on the G20 regulation passed by the McGuinty government at the time which left the impression they could be arrested merely for passing by the summit security fence without identification.

      The province and police did not acknowledge until after the summit that the regulation amending the Public Works Protection Act applied only inside the security perimeter. The regulation “amounted to martial law in Toronto,” Mr. Marin said, and was “the most massive compromise of civil liberties in Canadian history.”

      Methinks if they try such rubbish again, all hell will break loose. These fascists just never learn.

      When Ford was elected , I had hoped he would govern as he seemed to promise during the short election campaign. As soon as the COVID restrictions were introduced , the first hint of his behavior was revealed when he labeled anyone who disagreed as “Yahoos”.

      1. Ford comes from old money , so unless there is some hidden agenda , it is hard to see how he could be influenced by money , but not impossible.

      2. More likely Ford is motivated by power. He easily bludgeoned his caucus into submission and any dissenters were ejected from the Party.

      The odd part , is that if Ford’s motivation is power , he appears weak on most issues. Even for a truly dumb politician , one look at Israel or Malta COVID infection rates should indicate the vaccines are not working , so what does he do ? Double down in league with Trudeau.

      If he was a strong leader committed to freedom , he would have today announced a total removal of COVID restrictions and champion freedom. That would have given him significantly more power than the emergency declaration which is likely to inflame the entire situation.

    Governments are playing with fire.

    1. Just wait till people figure this out. I’ve been saying for a while that we are going to see leaders and faceless civil servants have their day in court, as defendants. Complaints have been lodged with the ICC as well.

  18. Ford can no longer be supported by true conservatives in Ontario. Is the New Blue Party (link below) the alternative for disgruntled conservatives? It is worth a look. They certainly will get a lot of conservative votes in the June provincial election, and that will likely guarantee a Liberal or NDP government, which will be worse, but not by much, than Ford’s PCs.

  19. I have no doubt that Ford believes his own bluster will make him look tough. What he expects the police to do with these new powers, I’m unsure – but I suspect he really thinks that the cops will start walking up to the truckers in their cabs and start issuing them five & six figure fines. Then get warrants for their arrest, and then the cops go start hauling them out of their trucks by force – won’t that be a great piece of footage for the news?

    He’s pissing all over what should be a core constituency. Has he always been dumb as a bag of rocks or has he lost his mind over Covid?

    1. Restore citizen’s charter rights, human rights, civil rights, medical and bodily autonomy

    Or

    2. Take away more rights

    Government chose option 2 by going after givesendgo and enacting yet another state of emergency. I think they’ve chosen poorly.

    You have to wonder what’s behind their absolute refusal to restore our rights. Many European countries, who rank higher on various international indexes, have dropped all restrictions because the pandemic has ended. Why is the federal government and some provincial governments continuing policies of discrimination, segregation and oppression? Why won’t they engage in dialogue and negotiation with those who merely want Canadians to regain all of their rights?

  22. I just sent him my thoughts. It was kept civil but the angry tone was maintained.
    My note reiterated that it was bad government policy they brought us to this situation. Bad policy took our freedoms and livelihoods. This is all on government not on the truckers.

We call it what it is tyranny, fascism he’s bowing to his rich masters. They abused us for two years, verbally abused us using the media as their mouth pieces but the minute they are subjected to the same treatment they invoke the right to abuse us even more. Enough, why don’t we pick a date, at the eleventh hour on said date we all remove our face muzzles and chant “We will no longer comply”. There are to many of us to silence if for once we unite to fight our oppressive leaders of all stripes. I hope the people form a human chain around the protesters, make the stasi look into their eyes when they drag off the peasants.

  27. Good friend wrote me about the impact of the mandates and lockdowns after listening to the video of the leader of the Truckers.

    Thank you Dave. He really laid out the truth of the matter. What leader doesn’t talk to his people? They also have a line up of doctors who are asking the government to send their health officials in so they can have a debate about the mandates, vaccines and lock downs. Unfortunately, there has never any debates during the past 2 years, only censorship of any views that do not follow the narrative.

    I am so grateful to these people. As much as we have protected Polly and Caspar from this as much as we can they have lost so much of a normal childhood. Caspar has never had a birthday party with friends, both children have been denied extra curricular activities, no play dates, deep fears of pulling their masks down in school, etc, etc. On a developmental stage, children unable to see friends and teachers mouths are developing speech impediments and the inability to read facial expressions that could have a lifetime effect. Trudeau and our leaders have not once addressed any of these issues and simply have a blanket statement of “get vaccinated”. And to what end? They have 6 boosters lined up for every Canadian citizen. And more vaccines to come for any side effects from those boosters (eg. Myocarditis). Which we will have to take once we lose our bodily autonomy.

    I lost my grandmother (in June) and a dear client this week due to the vaccine. My heart just breaks over it all.

    1. So true! 5 and 6 year old children do not know anything else. Older children have suffered also, my 10 year granddaughter cried for hours when the covid rules changed 2 days before her birthday party and I could not go to the event (single mother, I’m kind of the only man in her life). It broke my heart when she got mad at me and told me where to “stick my stupid vaccine ideas” (It must be dusty in here, *sniff*). Thank goodness she seems to be warming up to me again. Regardless, I fear for the psychological damage younger children growing up in this atmosphere have suffered. So so sad!

And that was Dalton and the start windmill/solar fiasco asking if ANYONE had done a cost/benefit analysis. So, with this latest announcement, I am compelled to write another email to Doug, so I guess that now makes him worse than Dalton? Never thought that would happen when I voted PC in the last provincial election….no more! By the way, I was at the Hill yesterday and if you can you must make your way there.
