Supply Chain Problems? Let Them Eat Shelves.

These pictures were taken at my local supermarket in the Greater Toronto Area yesterday.

These shelves are where sugar, oil, rice and flour can normally be found.

And when I say normal, I mean before the government of PM Hairdo decided to cut off the supply chain.

I’d ask him about it, but you know, he’s “isolating”.

From the comments (update from Kate);

Things are getting interesting at work. I’m a baker and tomorrow I only have enough flour for two mixes. Typically I do four to five. Asked the guys in the know when we could expect more and was laughed at. Today’s delivery was cancelled and was expected to show up sometime tomorrow. Frozen product we need was also very light on the things we needed, as in bupkus. Weekend is going to be interesting.

  1. I took some video of bare meat shelves in a Walmart in Regina on the same evening the convoy rolled through and no one gave two shits.

  2. Hopefully the truckers convoy empties the shelves entirely. Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto deserve it.

    1. We need a good (artificially fabricated) famine. Hopefully centered in the French-speaking Provinces.

        1. New Brunswick is not nearly as bad as Quebecistan.

They get some slack, in my book.

    2. Serious question: do the members of the convoy have the guts to do this? To really see this through? Because showing up for a day or two around Parliament, waving flags, making speeches, etc. isn’t going to do it. Trudeau ain’t even gonna show his face, that’s clear.

If all the convoy does is hold a massive protest and then leave peacefully and go home, Trudeau wins. The MSM wins. They flush the whole thing down the memory hole, declare that the protestors were fringe all along, probably stuff some “Attempted Insurrection Thwarted!” garbage down our throats, and immediately return to Covid fear porn and demonizing the unjabbed and those who are against the mandates. And it’ll be hugely demoralizing for anyone & everyone against the mandates, to play this hand and come out of it with nothing. Especially since any future protest will just get painted the same way: “Oh they’re just like those cowardly dumb antivax truckers!”

What the convoy has to be willing to do, and I don’t think I’ve heard them say it, is exactly what you say. Blockade. Nothing gets in or out of Ottawa (that ought to do; adding TO & MTL to the mix is heavy duty logistics). Nothing. Not until Trudeau knuckles under. It will lead to police action. It will lead to a state of emergency, martial law, military deployment. It’ll get ugly and it’ll get violent. But that’s going to be the only way to win this thing, to get Trudeau and all those federal filth pushers to back down. They’ve got to have some honest-to-God FEAR put into them.

If they’re not willing to do that, they should turn around and go home NOW. All of them. You can’t go this big and not be willing to go all-in.

      1. Agreed. Go big or go home. PM could actually use this opportunity to look good, but I’m not hopeful. He could stop all mandates for travel and say recent data shows these mandates ineffective. Leave it there, then subsequently the provinces could remove all restrictions, lockdowns and mandates. Everyone looks good.
But they are not paying me.

        1. Like this idea. Toronto to Hamilton, Ottawa, Montreal no-go zones for all freight semi’s, or trucks over 5 tons (or drivers can demand, in cash, ten times the going rate). Also, create a shortage of drivers & trucks there by offering bonuses for trucks and drivers to come west for 3-4 weeks.

      2. You’re right. I’m trying to keep track of the western convoy, so far it has been split into two groups, one taking Hwy 11 and the other 17. Sault St. Marie is the tonight’s’ destination. But I’ve noticed other convoys originating in Ontario and Quebec? hitting the 400 highways already.

Six million in the kitty, the protest can last for awhile…park and sit. If some rogue elements of useful idiots show up, no idea where this will lead. I’m quite content if Ottawa is tied up for a month. Mind you, it could become the biggest outdoor party.

      3. So are we going to go help them??? I agree 100% I.M.

I’ll be calling off work for Monday and heading to Ottawa for the weekend. 9 hour drive for me, but this depends on all of us. I was really happy to see the support on the sides of the highways today. Great turnout for the 80kms I drove along the 401 hwy.

  3. Hmmm…odd, not surprised mind you. But I was just in South Calgary Wal-Mart..Only thing I could not find were Pork Sausages … shelves were pretty much full.

    Thankfully..to be sure

    1. Same here in Kelowna, at least where I shop.
Both grocery stores were well stocked.
I was grateful to the truckers and other folks who keep the supplies ordered and stocked.

      1. Just got home from south side Safeway in Lethbridge. Scattered MT shelves here & there, not much difference from last time I was there a couple weeks back. Produce filled, dairy good, meat & fish OK.

Prices up across the board, especially meat.

        1. Ah, one thing does come to mind. Lovely bride has been forced to shop around to find birdseed for the last couple months or so. Usually picks it up @ Costco.

    2. I heard from my son that the Walmart in Medicine Hat had no meat what so ever ! Only thing left was the Beyond Meat products ! My hubby and I were shopping in Sobeys and talking to the meat manager. I asked if they were finding shortages and told them the Walmart story , he looked at me very seriously and said “ this is Sobeys, WAlmart is that way ! I laughed and kept moving .

  4. What an absolute disgrace of collusion between the government(s) and the media in Canada. When did “Nothing to see here” become the de facto answer to CONCERNED CANADIAN CITIZENS?!?

    1. Robert

I think I’d call it Willful criminality….colluding filth, the lot, I include the Health NAZI’s, Every politician from Mayor on up and the brain dead herd that supports their tyranny.

    2. When the Media realized they were untouchable.

      Reject their product?
      No problem.
Liberals are quite happy to subsidize billionaire Media owner’s propaganda with your money.

Fear the wrath of fed up with being lied to Canadians?
      No worries.
Decades of lies doesn’t even warrant a protest sign.

  5. I went grocery shopping today, and while some shelves looked a little thin, I was expecting worse than I found. I won’t however pay almost 9 dollars for a 375 gram package of bacon.

    1. Rusty

      You noticed Too eh..?

Bacon -Thick sliced Mitchell’s brand was for a ~2lb package was 15.47…now..?? Packages are easily half or a bit less, for 12.57.

Won’t even get into the insane pricing Anywhere in your Std. Grocery stores like, Safeway, Sobeys & Save-on etc. Out to lunch on Bacon.

      WalMart S. Calgary

      1. If you can put up with the flavor, costco still has bacon at $16 for a 4 pack of 550G

or if you are industrious, you can get the porkbelly for a little bit more and make your own

    2. worst offender that I saw was a grapefruit sized cauliflower, $8. thin shelves in nwo also.

  6. We’ve been waiting for the moment when we could say: “this is the beginning of the end for Trudeau Junior”. My guess is we’ll look back and say this was it.

The supreme irony is, despite being the most fallible and weak of recent PMs, no great political opponent within the system took him down. He did it all on his own. This disaster is all of his own creation.

Rather than face the music, he decided to slink off and cower behind the secure walls of his Winter Palace. The optics really stink. When all you’ve ever had was an image, once the image is gone, it’s all gone.

The writing is on the wall, Junior. “You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.”

    1. Escape.
The same can be said for joe biden.

He built this mess in just one year. The next elections is going to be bloody for the dems.

    2. And yet–and yet!–if an election were held tomorrow, he’d still win, and without having to resort to stuffing ballot boxes. Canada is a country that willingly and joyously has committed intellectual and spiritual suicide, declaring those acts as supreme virtue.

      1. It doesn’t help that the leader of the official opposition is a complete and utter twat unfit to govern, and everybody but him knows it.

        1. Yup. O’Noodle figured that Prinz Dummkopf won because he have voters what they wanted. So, Error is going to give them more. (“You voted Liberal because you wanted a carbon tax! Elect us Conservatives, and we’ll double it!”)

He’s not just missing in action but missing in intellect.

          1. Even my supposed CPC MP is convinced I need to be thrown under the bus to impress the kewl kids. Do they think that was because they were children when they tried that on the school playground that it never ended well? They really think that because they’re all grown up that it will work this time? The CPC is a lost cause. They all wholeheartedly supported bill C4. It doesn’t matter what they say now, they don’t deserve our support.

      2. And yet–and yet!–if an election were held tomorrow, he’d still win

@BADR: Yes, you are probably right. Another “victory” coming in second place in popular vote, with the LOWEST voter support of any PM in Canadian history.

Say what you want about Junior, but being a big vote getter, in spite of all his unparalleled advantages, is NOT one of his qualities.

That being said, I would draw your attention to my original post. I only expressed my non-rational feeling that this was “beginning of the end“. I did not say this was “the end”. If only.

Let’s not let pathetic Junior constantly head-fake us into believing he’s invincible. He’s always been extremely vulnerable, and has needed constant propping up by the government and corporate establishments. He’s always been disco-dancing on the precipitous edge of his own preposterousness.

        1. only expressed my non-rational feeling that this was “beginning of the end“. I did not say this was “the end”. If only.

If that’s the case, I might not live long enough to see it. After all, we were burdened with his supposed father for nearly 15 years (not including the time he had to live in Stornoway during Joe Who’s tenure of error).

Since he wants to out-daddy Daddy, we’d have at least another 8 years before he “walks in the snow”. By then, of course, we won’t have a country left, but why should he worry when he’ll be safely ensconced in his Chinese hideaway by then, having a few beers with Mo Strong.

          1. “Beginning of the end” does not mean, to me at least, another 8 years of malice in blunderland.

I might not live long enough to see it.

            I sincerely hope you do.

    3. The world economic forum youth leadership program, besides being obviously evil, is also a failure. I believe they thought the shelves would fill themselves.

  7. WA state. City of Mukilteo.
When shopping at a QFC food store. Not a cheap place to shop and I’d say about 1/3 of the store has limited products on the shelf’s.

    Hey Brandon you did this.

  8. I have noticed that its getting more expensive to buy supplies for my farm. That is not going to help consumer prices down the line.

    1. Ouch.

We all shall take the hit when it’s moved to the stores.
Two nations run by total idiots.

    2. OJ, you have my condolences about the expenses.

Yes it is getting more expensive to farm. But farmers rarely get to pass on these costs. They are at the mercy of the market and those who are buying the product from the farms. Those higher food prices in the grocery store are not going to any of the farmers and ranchers.

In the days of the wheatboard they even had to pay for delivering to and into the boat. Plus if the boat was in the quay, we paid for that as well. One of worst part of the wheatboard were the Left-Coast strikes. Every time we had a decent harvest the longshoremen went on strike. Any gain we thought we would get would be lost in the strike. We paid for storing grain vessels in Vancouver Harbour. Any farmer who loved the wheatboard I would tell to give his head a shake.

      Anyway, hope things improve.

      1. farmers rarely get to pass on these costs. They are at the mercy of those who are buying the product from the farms. Those higher food prices in the grocery store are not going to any of the farmers and ranchers.

Usually, a seller and a buyer come to terms based on supply and demand. If these market forces are never/very rarely at work in agriculture/ranching, then something is definitely wrong, and farmers/ranchers won’t be able to stay in an unprofitable business for long.

In an inflationary dynamic, the fixed-income consumer is the one that has traditionally got the short end of the stick. Not the producer. Something’s definitely wrong.

  9. Things are getting interesting at work. I’m a baker and tomorrow I only have enough flour for two mixes. Typically I do four to five. 10. I hate to say it, but I.M.’s post from 3:24PM is bang on.

I’ve prayed for the success of this convoy, but they really do have to shut Ottawa down and not leave until, as organizer Tamara Lich says, the gov’t either resigns or reverses the mandates.

God, give them the strength to see this through and stay steadfast.

    1. L – Ditto… the dauphin is not to be trusted, break him or his regime will come at you in the
dead of night or broad daylight, at home, work, on the drive in or out.

A Recession/Depression along with massive inflation and shortages will be how he tries to
continue the mass hysteria that the Lockdowns/clot shots began. It gets better or it gets
so much worse, there is no fast, no easy way out.

    2. I agree Weyland. I.M. has nailed it. If the truckers and other supporters do not stay to finish this job, nothing will happen. However, it can be a learning experience for the next time. This will escalate until we win.

    3. The other option is to go on strike (which this kind of is because they aren’t delivering loads) until people start to starve and run out of gasoline and then leave it up to the government to deal with the backlash from everyone. The truckers can take a “you people will get your next meal when the government backs down” position.

    4. The truckers will be there for the duration until all the restrictions are lifted. How many week’s that will be, we will see. I for one am still at home here in southern Ontario, but will be heading to Ottawa likely later next week to spell off others who are on the road today. So many people are so fed up with the stupidity they have witnessed in the last 2 years, this is it. The pandemic is OVER!! Enough is enough!!!
The lions are now awake, and they are all heading toward Ottawa.

  11. Returned home to Burlington from Sudbury earlier today and I could not believe the turnout on the three main interchanges in Vaughn . Thousands of people in support of the convoy . Actually brought a tear to my eyes as we approached to see flag and hand waving . Sad to think that Trudope and his whore media will vilify these decent Canadians .

    1. But….. but….. but….. Canada’s democracy–Canada’s freedoms are dangerously tipping on a knife edge. The fate of our country is at stake, so all efforts must be made to quell this insurrection which will turn Canada into an anarchy if it isn’t defeated!

Historians will look back at the defeat of the convoy as the start of the goldenest of ages for this country. Dear Leader will save us all.

The preceding message has been brought to you by Blarney, Horsepuckey, and Hogwash.

  12. Interesting to consider how far Trudeau will go to remain in power. This government will be in desperate need of a false flag operation to salvage anything in the coming weekend. The government cannot allow a blockade of Ottawa but at the same time cannot disperse a legal protest by force and any attempt to do so will only expose the total criminality that is the Liberal government. (SNC-Lavalin anyone). So they need a false flag to demonize the truck convoy and all who support it. Enter the DEVIL’S Advocate. Suppose the government employs, say for example a Liberal/NAZI minded group and puts them into a truck surreptitiously inserted into the convoy to create mayhem. One the fire starts it takes a long time for the smoke to clear and by then all of our perceived freedoms have been flushed down the drain of history. Don’t think it can’t happen, look south of the border at what happened a little over a year ago and they are still rounding up supposed insurrectionists otherwise known as protestors. “One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.”, but when the terrorists have illegally taken over the government and are branding everyone else a terrorist the limits of a civil, self governing society have been breeched.

    1. Interesting to consider how far Trudeau will go to remain in power.

He’d rather burn down the entire country than abdicate.

  13. I do not think it is racist to observe that the listed commodities in short supply are used in greater quantities by our immigrant populations. The other thing our immigrants understand is shortages of food-stuff. In that regard I conclude they are stocking up while supplies are available. We should be doing the same.

  14. I.M. Why stop there? Now that there is this huge army on the move make the most of the negotiating power that you have. Demand the end of the criminal carbon taxes. That alone would go a long way to alleviating the country’s financial woes. Oh you need the money? How about taking 50% of the bloodsucking Federal employees and offering them free heavy truck driver training so they could learn to be useful members of society.

  15. Pet food store I just visited was looking a little sparse. I bought the last large bag of Acana Grasslands dog food – usually there’s at least 6 bags stacked up. Other sizes and brands noticeably absent. Pleasantly surprised that the price ($85) hadn’t increased yet.

  16. Interesting developments today, first out of Brazil, courtesy of Gateway Pundit:
    https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2022/01/itajai-brazil-citywide-prevention-program-using-ivermectin-significantly-reduced-covid-19-infection-hospitalization-mortality-rate/

and Denmark is joining Ireland and the UK and is dropping most restrictions on February 1st.
    https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2022/jan/27/denmark-drops-most-of-its-covid-19-restrictions-mo/
Sweden has stopped injecting children while Fauci is advocating for earlier injections for American children starting at six months.
Meanwhile on Canada’s Left Coast Dr. Bonnie has just announced the restrictions will stay in place until the end of June. So Canadian Medical authorities will continue to whip that dead horse until the rest of the world is back on their feet and producing and working. But, but, but the truckers are a “fringe minority” and “racist, misogynist, white supremacists” according to Li’l Tater Head..

    1. I wonder who is giving Dr. Bonnie orders. It seems imprudent to anticipate what the pandemic situation will be in June. What about the science? She also makes it clear tgat in BC, politicians are not interesting in ending this mess.

  17. Listened to an interview on CFRA with the owner of the Antrim(?) Truck Stop in Arnprior. He said he has received thousands of emails telling him he should close and not support the truckers. And that my friends is what we are up against, the left are not nice people.

    1. Liberal activists, most likely. Even if you don’t support the rallies, most people would not be bothered trying to disrupt them. I think this is a Liberal tactic to try to intimidate people. Liberals are looking more and more pathetic,

  18. Remember the demonstration that gathered on Parliament Hill because Harper decided to table a budget that would end the per vote subsidy given to political parties?
Even recall the liberals went that extra mile of pledging to form a coalition to keep Harper from governing.
    My point?
How big was that fringe minority of extremists?

  19. The “shelves-deniers” are in for quite a rude surprise when whatever food is put on shelves is incredibly expensive.

I’ve seen a bare shelf or two and certainly noticed the inflated price of whatever is put on the shelves.

Who will these idiots blame when there is nothing?
