Sit up straight and pay attention, Canadian Conservatives…
[I]f Democrats thought he would just rattle his saber and then settle into being a typical Republican, they were mistaken. Youngkin is also taking on one of the left’s sacred cows — the woke establishment — and doing so in a way that is incredibly satisfying.
The governor has renamed the state’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer the Diversity, Opportunity, and Inclusion Officer. Further, he appointed a conservative to the spot and also listed one of the job requirements as being an “ambassador for unborn children.”
Democrats are not used to being fought on their own ground. By and large, the left has come to expect that while they may be opposed, the guardrails they’ve set up will be respected. That’s why a change like this makes them so upset, and to be sure, the wailing in response has been deafening. You aren’t supposed to actually retake territory when you fight the left. You are, instead, supposed to kowtow to their institutions and work around the edges. That’s what they’ve come to expect from Republicans like Larry Hogan.
Youngkin continues to impress, though. Instead of playing by the left’s rules, he’s decapitating their sacred cows.
Kick the Overton window to the curb — and then kick it again.

Imagine if Stephen Harper had done any of this when he had his majority.
Had he completed one job: CBC gone.
It would be a different country today.
Harper and Co. left me. I didn’t leave him/them.
I’m not sure who said it first, you or me or maybe Rex but that’s absolutely God’s truth.
Stephen Harper was an incrementalist (as he had to be in his minority governments, and chose to be in his majority government). The approach served him well in the abolition of Canadian Wheat Board (which, for all of the media sound and fury, faded from the national consciousness about three weeks after its demise).
I am disappointed that he didn’t apply the same approach to the CBC, moving steadily toward a PBS funding model and forcing the Corporation to run “pledge weeks” to raise money from its handful of its smug supporters, running specials featuring what’s left of the Bells, Lighthouse, The Poppy Family, Mashmakhan, and Beau Dommage, along with David Suzuki, Stephen Lewis, and Margaret Atwood on the phone bank offering t-shirts, tote bags, and mugs. With the success of those efforts, Mr Harper could have reduced further the annual handout to the CBC.
unfortunately, he was only able to kill one of the fascist apparatuses of the Canadian government, the rest still need to go
“Kick the Overton window to the curb — and then kick it again.”
Sometimes a brick through a window sends the best message.
Just curious … how does 6uild 6ack 6etter … let alone a $1.7T “infrastructure” spending bill that is loaded with expanded bureau of global warming useless government “jobs” … fit within the Overton window?
I’d say it’s time for the sane conservatives to take a sawzall with a hatchet blade to the window opening … time to remodel the self-imposed narrow view.
I’m thrilled like most conservatives but I’d be even more thrilled had he simply cancelled that stupid “diversity” bullshit officer instead of renaming it.
Well, that depends on what his job description is.
Maybe we can be like the anti-1984 or Unbizarro World. The Diversity Office ends diversity (as defined by the left). The Ministry of Truth weeds out lies. The Ministry of Peace can actually avoid getting into stupid wars etc. etc.
As much as I hate to assume 4D chess, I think the goal here was an reverse Iowahawk.
New Rules here too!

Get back to me when Governor Youngkin authorizes the use of live ammunition on black supremacists daring to riot in the streets of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Actually, get back to me when a minimum of 25,000 black supremacists and globalists of all races are sitting in Virginia correctional institutions, to remain there at the pleasure of the people of the Commonwealth, and an armed sheriff’s deputy is posted at each polling station on election day.
Youngkin has more than a little RINO in his background. Let’s see what the long haul shows.
Practically on the same day we get Peterson’s “D.I.E Must Die” and Gov. Youngkin reorganizing his D.I.E. office.
the problem being that unless he fired the whole of the DIE office, it won’t make a difference who is running it…
One of the most moving passages I’ve ever read was in Bob Rae’s book (I read it so you don’t have to).
Basically, he had to sit in the Legislature while Mike Harris slapped his pathetic legacy around like a old drunk past closing time.
As bad as things are with current leadership posing as conservatives, the good thing is as the song goes, “you have to go to hell before you get to heaven”. And the next Harris or Klein is out there.
Liberal tears are just the sweetest, aren’t they?
Youngkin should have eliminated the diversity position. Those types of jobs are for people who took crappy degrees.
