Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Oh, Great! Rub it in!
Greetings from Central Saskatchewan 0 C Fishing and Hunting the rest of the world can kiss my ass
I miss Florida. As a Canadian I’m fooked. At one time we would drive down there and ski down the wonderful mountains of Florida snow,so energising, ski for daze.
I lived at the Mutiny in Coconut Grove for 6 months when I first moved down in 2019, a great hotel with a notorious past. It is said that the Mutiny was the inspiration for the movie Scarface. My bartender there told me that a recent penthouse renovation revealed an entire wall filled with cocaine and cash.
Was that the west wall in the master bed room?…Just kidding “Iknow nothing!!!”
Funny you post that, a neighbor of ours ( twenty something girl ) just went to Florida and today we learned that she is not coming back. Her family came and picked up her cloths and the boy friend was packing his stuff ( left the boy friend here ). Now that is a real “up vote” for Florida.
I almost did that too back in the 1970s, looking back, I sometimes regret I came home. Even more now –with Commies here in Canada.
If I were Robert I’d stay there!
TBH … the massive hedgerow of 1970’s midrise condos is rather off-putting. The only positive they offer is housing hundreds of families who bring their hot 18-19yo daughters to frolic on the beach in their (barely there) string bikinis. But the beaches look more bare than the girls. I’d think they’d be packed here in the dead of winter. Oh well … the Canadian snowbirds must be long past 19yo … and it must be highball time.
Can you stick around till Spring Break, and do some Nikon photo blogging then?
Kenji, it was sunset when that video was taken. The chicks are passed out at the bar. Ha!
P.S. My sister who is in Florida now said that’s it’s a bit cool there lately. Not too many tourists …yet. Also, the necessity of getting the vaxx probably has a lot to do with the lack of bigger crowds.
Back in my day there was no night beach sleeping . The homeless/criminals would wear white track suits and sleep in the day then use the beach showers at night and go hunting drunken tourists . Lauderdale Dade.
The panhandle isn’t usually busy during the winter – it can get cold there. I’m not sure about this year as the RV parks and state campgrounds have been full all over due to Covid camping. When we last passed through Pensacola seven years ago, the beaches were deserted. The beaches on the east coast of Florida OTH have been quite busy – the weather up until the past few days has been warmer than normal. We are into a cold snap – the temperature is forecasted to drop into the high teens in the next few days.
BTW – the unemployment rate in Brevard County as reported a couple of weeks ago is 3.4%. There are “Help Wanted” signs everywhere.
South of Tampa is a lovely town called St Pete Beach. Largest building on the beach is the Don Cesar Hotel. All the tall condos are at the north end of town, The south beach is the historic Passa Gris. Absolutely lovely. We have family there. Plan to visit again soon , but we are not jabbed.
Robert’s vid is lovely, but the beauty of St Pete Beach surpasses this coastline.
Robert, that was a beautiful sunset!
I’ve been to Florida a few times on both sides of the peninsula but didn’t spend any time in N.E. Fla. Did visit Saint Augustine though and learned about the history which dates back to the 1500s. Also visited one of the old Forts there.
If you haven’t already, be sure to visit Sanibel Island near Fort Myers. Due to easy causeway access, Sanibel is a popular tourist destination known for its shell beaches and wildlife refuges. More than half of the island is made up of wildlife refuges, the largest being J. N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge.
The beaches are splendid. You’ll love it!

Attended 3 seminars at Ft Myers & Captiva Island a number of years back. Yes, beautiful, but the humidity was killing. Ninety degree heat & 95% humidity. Step out of the Ft Myers airport & it hits you like a hammer. Thunderstorms built up over the gulf every afternoon. ‘Bout killed this prairie boy.
That sounds unbearable to a Canadian, but I can assure you it is worse on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay where I spent most of my life, where the humidity is just as bad, and the high summer temps go well over 100° for a week or so every summer. By contrast, the highest temp ever recorded here in Naples is 98°, and the usual summer high is about 93°. And yes, we get 1/2″ of rain every day for 20 minutes.
were’s florida????
Looks great.
Enjoy the freedom.
So where are all the people? Or was this just Robert toying with us 🙂
But… but …… when the oceans rise 3m due to Iceland melting my Tesla will spark out. Al Gore sais so. <sarc

This is the furthest West you can get in Florida it appears
Did Bike Week all through the 90’s then it got too commercial and the local input got pushed out I migrated to the first of the Octoberfest bike weeks through till the early 2000’s.
Happy days, very fond memories still got an old “flame” down there.
Not to rub it in…..we’ve been here since November 10th….love it
No large beaches where we are and less tourists. Always something going on outside…..sunshine and blue sky mostly
We are getting a cooler week this week mid 60’s, then back up to mid to high 70’s. If you stay away from certain coasts Florida is actually pretty rural….lotsa horses and agriculture. Our area attracts more of a conservative crowd….the southern Red Neck Riviera, lotsa Trump and DeSantis supporters, good BBQ and good folk of all persuasions enjoying life.
15 years at the same place and now can’t go back without taking the Nazi experimental drugs. Stupid fucking people. Cost me a lot.
My favourite vacation spot in Florida is Marco Island, 20 miles south of Naples. Nothing quite compares, it’s simply beautiful.
