The Red-Light Cameras Made Me Do It

On dangerous driving and racially “disproportionate” ticketing:

Those presented as victims of injustice, of “racial inequity,” include Mr Rodney Perry, whose photograph accompanies the piece, and who, in a single year, has received eight tickets for speeding and three for running red lights. The article appears not to have had room to include the views of those injured or bereaved by Chicago’s law-breaking motorists, despite an eye-widening spike in accidents, fatalities, and hit-and-run crashes. Nor, it seems, was there room to consider the possible effect of endless, widespread excuse-making for antisocial behaviour, and its role in making such behaviour more likely, not less.

I’m sure it was just a matter of space.

  1. The merge that the Mainstream Media’s Propaganda machine hasn’t worked very well for the decades of individual causes that go out to protest for that one group or injustice of individuals. There have been millions non taxed businesses that sprung forth and all needing to have board members or councils or whatever for hundreds of different causes and all biting at the apple for funding. Our politicians pick winners and losers to get funding and many times that’s permanent on the books charities they say.
The Mainstream Media’s Propaganda only states what protest that they deem is occurring and many times, that isn’t accurate.
With all these causes merged, they no longer have a voice of the cause that they originally were fighting for.
So, many of them are tanking financially.

  2. so “vision zero” is racist? good to know…

of course, if you want to prove that they are targeting minorities, you’d have to do math to determine if the intersections in question have short yellows, or fast reds, but math is racist

  3. Ok.

HERE is my persepctive on this.
I drove a taxi for near 10 years in Calgary even while I was in College. (
    Weekends).

In order of utter Uselessness when behind the Wheel.

    ORIENTALS – Chinese and otherwise
    Blacks – Trying to be # 1
    Muslim women
    East Indian’s – Pakistani’s etc.

    I don’t give a damn either…it is – what MOST DEFINITELY is.

    1. My list for Vancouver near downtown, where I live near the worst collision intersection:

I agree with your #1. Many Chinese are able to get licenses with a purchase in Richmond, avoiding lessons and testing. Middle-aged men (not just Chinese) are also the least likely to allow one to get into their lane, when they might lose a space in traffic to get where they are going 50 seconds before I do. I rarely go to Richmond, after I saw a driver try to make a left turn by crossing into my lane while I was waiting for the light to change. Personally, I think, that perhaps some have difficulties with vision and spatial relationships. These traits are partly inherited.

#2 Young men of all races, trying to be #1. They speed, run lights, honk, and pass careful people going the speed limit with road rage in their minds. The worst seem to be the ones with fancy cars in West Van and Richmond, mostly new Canadians, but some “old stock”, where street-racing is popular.

Most of our Pakistanis and Indians grew up here, so learned to drive properly and are very nice. Not sure about their extended families who are admitted on reunification, as they rarely come downtown. I have never seen a black driver here, but do some well-behaved blacks around and went an enjoyable Caribbean festival in our local park, pre-Wuhan flu.
