  1. Civil disobedience.

I think we’re going to be seeing a lot more of it in 2022 if the pols don’t smarten up. They’re our countries, after all — we just hired the pols to manage them for us (and they’ve been doing a crap job of it).

    1. Nonononononono! Don’t you remember when A. O’Donkey Chompers said that the people who voted for her have to do as she says because she’s now “the boss”?

Unfortunately, there are far too many politicians who have a similar attitude.

      1. Politicians and bureaucrats always need reminding they are to serve us, the people, not to rule over us.
We can vote politicians out. Bureaucrats need something more serious.

        1. We can vote politicians out.

Here in Canada, it’s only the bad ones who stay in office and can’t be booted out no matter how poor their performance. Look at Prinz Dummkopf or the now former mayors of Calgary and Edmonton.

  2. The only reason they are in charge or control. Is because we have been conditioned to obey authority since childhood in the Public Education System. BECOME Ungovernable

  3. Great post! A big thank you to all the SDA bloggers and our gracious hostess. You make a positive difference in the world. Also thank you to SDA’s loyal regulars. Happy 2022!

  4. Great gesture to the government.
    As to Karen? Sit down.

Has anyone any news from Montreal last night. I had a bet with my wife there would be trouble (living on the boarder, we also received the Provincial government’s curfew text. Strange how governments have decided they can issue edicts to people via SMS.

    1. Yeah, I’m betting a lot of Quebecois still partied through midnight. I’m also betting a lot of police forces there took one look at the SMS message and said “Enforce this? Tonight? Are they insane?”

    2. Not strange at all.
Governments, whether by design or benign neglect, always default to more power, more control, more regulation.

  5. From the Karen thread, “it is simply primitive & disturbing to create an atmosphere reminiscent of war through the explosions caused by the fireworks. As someone who grew up with a war-traumatised father (WW II), this is intensely palpable for me every year. (Transgenerational trauma).”

A new year and a new word for me, transgenerational trauma.

I never associated fireworks with war. Next time I’m caught speeding I’ll say, “it is simply primitive & disturbing to create an atmosphere reminiscent of war through the use of radar.” My dad was annoyed by more than one speeding ticket, so I could add transgenerational trauma as well.

    1. Transgenerational trauma a.k.a. Associate Victim Status. I care more than you do about someone else’s misfortune and suffering therefore I am better than you therefore you owe me some form of the compensation due to them, e.g. attention, obedience.

    2. Transgenerational trauma is the result of being treated as the punching bag of every tyrant on planet earth for 2000 years, ending only when you make credible threats to turn your tormentors into radioactive ash. Not hearing fireworks on New Year’s Eve.

Even money says Karen’s sperm donor never even heard a shot fired in anger.

  6. There are way too many people doing way too many studies on way too many inane topics. Fireworks are fun and if you are bothered by it; well, pretending to be a gentleman disallows me saying what I think

  7. I’ve mentioned this before. In 1672 the Dutch killed their prime minister and ate him.

  8. These ‘Karens’ should worry less about fireworks pollution and more about the toxicity of Covid vaccines.

  9. Love to see people finally reach their limits of being baby-sat. Politicians are like babysitters, (sometimes they are good sometimes they are a nightmare), they aren’t the parents, they are placed in the position of the parent but nobody really respects nor believes they are in control when they start down the road of evil.

When will the babysitter realize that they aren’t really on control? When the parents come home. Then all the rules the babysitter demanded be followed vaporize into thin air. The kids return to the freedom of the parental guidlines and the babysitter no longer has any say.

    Trudeau is a petulant babysitter.

    1. Trudeau is a petulant babysitter.

That’s because he was raised by them.

  10. ☆* Way to go, fireworks in the Netherlands!

I heard fireworks blasting away last night, looked out, but didn’t see them, sounded like they came from Spruce Meadows– perhaps the horses were partying with the lovely, third term M.P., Stephanie Kusie, Conservative, Calgary-Midnapore.
