Update: Some have noted in the comments that Trudeau’s remarks here were taken out of context.
Context IS important. The turd was lamenting the fact that including the notwithstanding clause into the constitution was “a political calculation” on the part of his father. This whole discussion was precipitated by the Muslim teacher in Chelsea Quebec being removed because she was wearing a hijab.
I’ll remind everyone that this is the guy drawing up legislation to regulate our speech on the internet, who has forced healthy Canadians into “quarantine” hotels against their will. I don’t think context matters in his case, unless one wants to frame the remarks in the only way one can — as sanctimonious hypocrisy. Read it any way you please. It’s what he believes, notwithstanding clause notwithstanding.

Context?
Context is immaterial. The mere pronouncement of such thoughts should relegate him to the fringes of politics.
Without context the argument can always be made that it’s taken out of context, thus context is always important.
Sorry, GregN, but I have to agree with Mr. Big. After listening a few times, and considering the clip being edited so short, it is very possible he was simply describing Quebec’s actions.
We are conservatives, we are the ones who claim we demand proof before believing stuff. We are not supposed to be like leftards and jump to believe “fine-people hoaxes”, just because they suit our biases.
All that said, I would love nothing more than to see proof that this WAS a clip of Trudeau expressing his own beliefs. He certainly conducts himself like these are his personal beliefs.
Hear, hear. I said the same on Twitter about this clip, the bookends are important. It does conservatives no good to be shown to be underhanded and conniving by editing clips out of context.
It’s almost as though an agent provocateur is baiting the right.
CO,them are the old rules.
We be playing by “progressive Rules” now.same ones Dear Leader, his Gestapo Bodyguard and all the government media use.
Context?
Facts?
Evidence?
Hell No.
Don Cherry got cancelled by these dipshits for defending Veterans,Dear Leader has cut loose with that same “You People Bullshit”.
Same Crybabies?
Not a whimper.
And you are giving the Hair Apparent way too much credit,”Expressing his own beliefs” Really?
You think the Lisping Wonder actually has the mental capacity to have “His Own beliefs”?
Hell,it can barely read the daily script Buttzy Boy issues it with.
If you want to adopt the principals of the left, then I guess that’s up to you, John.
Let me know when you reach the point that you think rigging elections is A-OK, too…. because that’s what THEY do.
And…. please… save me the fucking lecture on Trudeau and don’t you dare even insinuate that my comments were in any way a defense of the evil little prick!
*
dear biggie…
you need some context for dachau, sachsenhausen, buchenwald,
flossenbürg, mauthausen and ravensbrück?
taking away civil rights ALWAYS leads to greater crimes.
i didn’t hear any condemnation of it.

Polish Summer Camps eh?
He took the word “ameliorate” from Section 15 and stuck it into Section 1.
If I may steal a line the great orator himself once hurled across the House of Commons and direct it back at him: “Oh, you piece of shit.”
@MrBig
The context is fkuc justin trudeau.
mhb23re
Shocked, shocked I tell ya.
FOAD Justin.
You don’t have a majority. You large brain dead population that has succumbed to your idiocy. You’ve demonstrated how easy it is to turn a population into totalitarian supporters.
Bone-chilling.
Entitled thug at hart.
Pure evil.
All those who did not do everything to get rid of him last election, or the election before: all his atrocities are on you.
I agree with MrBig…need to know the context of the remarks.
It’s possible he could be straw-manning and vilifying a policy position of his political enemy rather than stating his own position.
I don’t think Junior’s handlers would be so stupid and/or brazen (yet) to allow him to speak the truth in front of a camera.
If, however, he really is saying he is using a “loophole” in the Charter to attack Charter-protected rights and freedoms, then it’s horrifying Trudeaupia has sunk so low so fast that this kind of dictatorship is now considered acceptable.
But are we really surprised.
On the gripping hand, it’s possible that The Hair That Walks Like A Man™‘s handlers haven’t got him completely under control.
And, for the next election (assuming we ever have one again), this is gold, Jerry, gold!
“On the gripping hand…”
Be still my heart. : )
And, for the next election (assuming we ever have one again), this is gold, Jerry, gold!
O’Doodles will, of course, shy away from using that in the next election, assuming we have one, and, if we do, he’s still Communistive leader.
Context was he is saying that this why the notwithstanding clause is bad, the majority can take away the “rights” of the minority (I think subject is Quebec’s religious symbols law).
He does not see the irony in him at this very same time his government and premiers are taking away this same “rights” using the “reasonable limits” clause.
I think Prime Moron is the #1 imbecile ever to run/ruin a G7 country. And nonetheless elected 3 times so far.
Xiden is a senile dementia vegetable + a fraud, he is up there no pb but Idiot Justin is still #1.
I object to your characterization “Prime Moron”. It’s “Prime Minister Zoolander”.
A longer clip here with a bit more context. https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/video/prime-minister-says-notwithstanding-clause-150000261.html
Glad I didn’t jump off the cliff in a fit of rage over this. I kept a level head, and knew that the clip was indeed missing context.
Context IS important. The turd was lamenting the fact that including the notwithstanding clause into the constitution was “a political calculation” on the part of his father. This whole discussion was precipitated by the Muslim teacher in Chelsea Quebec being removed because she was wearing a hijab.
I must say, that I would have to agree with the turd on this specific subject, as much as it disgusts me to say so. Now if only he’d adopt the same standard when dealing with the rights of Anglophones in Quebec, Christian rights, Rights of the unvaxed… you get the idea.
I’m afraid Kate jumped the starter’s gun on this one. Thanks, Francisco.
Thank you, Fransisco!
Context is everything! Just ask Donald Trump about that one.
No one really believes Trudeau gives a damn about anything other than the rights HE believes in. He wants to take up the “hijab fight” because he’s after votes in Toronto. Trudeau and his libs don’t actually care about human rights.
That is why he can say he supports someone wearing a hijab, but if you say Bruce Jenner is still a man, or that abortion is wrong…..he can either put you in jail, or take away your funding.
It isn’t context that is important when it comes to the Liberals….its only the electoral math they consider. If Canada’s electoral landscape today was like Germany in the 1930’s….Trudeau would be taking off his brown shirt to show you his new swastika tattoo.
What a leader that blackface guy is, eh?
He’d make any Canadian proud, would he not? (sarc)
Most Canadians probably support him. This would be because most Canadians do not understand (or even know) one of the Iron Laws: “Me today, you tomorrow.”
(And yes, I get the context, but The Hair That Walks Like A Man™ has zero sense of the irony of this situation, given his own proclivities…).
Mark Steyn observed that Juthtin is the guy you can’t trust to be alone for 5 minutes with a tin of shoe polish
mhb23re
That’s a good one. He would grope it for sure!
Look Trudeau obviously isn’t lieing as we cannot see his lips move.
I promised myself I would not scribble theses words ever again but here goes ……….The old man built the coffin and now the son ( alleged ) is driving in the last few nails . All thanks to low information voters and a bought and paid for media . Merry Christmas you bastards .
The context is that the charter isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.
He behaves like a first year collage student. A character right out of an 80’s teen comedy.
I’m still so dumbfounded and amazed that Canadians elected this moron as prime minister… twice.
Dark times.
Look who we Yanks elected! Look who the Germans elected for the last bunch of years. Madness grips the west….
RE first year …. what year do they teach u to spell college?

Oh look! A grease face spelling NAZI. Get a life you vomit inducing slime pig.
The world is falling apart, and you’re worried about me misspelling a word.
What the hell is wrong with you, freak? Go crawl back under your rock.
Sorry Kate, you have been had. This is yellow dog journalism. Junior was talking about his opposition to the not withstanding clause. He was warning that the clause could be used to tyrannize minorities by the majority.
You know, the way his home province ended up using.
This is the guy who plans to police speech on the internet, and has forced healthy Canadians into “quarantine” hotels against their will.
I don’t think context matters in his case, unless one wants to frame the remarks in the only way one can — as sanctimonious hypocrisy. Read it any way you please. It’s what he believes, notwithstanding clause notwithstanding.
Bottom line….it wasn’t out of character for him.
Santa Clause is delivering some Christmas Fear.
You will Lose your Rights … and be happy about it
That’s all the coverage???
Yahoo News and Canadian Press?
As mentioned earlier isn’t the principal of the so-called Bill of Rights the other way around? The minority is supposedly ‘protected.’
Any comments from lawyers? And of course Nothing from O’toole!!
If o’stool plays his cards right, next election he can run as a lib and maybe get a shot at cabinet
Could he be less effective if that wasn’t his end game?
mhb23re
That clip only confirms my statement about him when I commented about David Menzies being physically attacked by his Mounties. He’s admitted he’s a tyrant.
And, no, the context in which he said that doesn’t matter.
The Founding Fathers implemented the Electoral College to circumvent the tyranny of the masses. I don’t think he understands what he’s saying: he’s suggesting that the primacy of the individual is superior to that of the group which is anathema to a modern progressive.

What’s next a Bill against “Sinophobia” ?
jgriffin316 is correct. Turdo is describing how the Notwithstanding clause can be abused. Context DOES matter.
Quebeckers are a minority in this country, yet everything has to go their way or else. Dear Leader wouldn’t have it any other way.
So what you are saying is that the report is fake but accurate ?
Justin Trudeau and his Estranged wife both Fake getting the Covid Jabs!

LOL
So let me get this straight. If I’m walking down the street with my buddy and come upon Trudeau, alone, walking toward us, We, my buddy and I, being the majority, can override his fundamental rights and kick the living fu-k right out of him and be within our rights. Sound about right? Or fun at least?
I’ve been saying this for 50 years. The Majority (Ontario and Quebec) use their “majority” to abuse the minority (the west).
It’s the Canadian way.
And the constitution is designed to insure it will always be so.
I often shock people down here in the lower 48 when I say that the country is going to break up- but we’re not the only country in North America that has a chance to dissolve. Alberta and Saskatchewan have more in common with the Dakotas, Montana, Idaho and Wyoming than they do with Ontario and Quebec.
And those jurisdictions would all be better off as part of a new federation than in Canada or the US.
The notwithstanding clause was a sop to Quebec and it underscores the fragility of Confederation – that one province can opt out of basic tenants of the constitution in order to stay “onboard”. The West should give it a test.
I don’t think the notwithstanding clause is exactly a sop to Quebec. It is true that Quebec was the first province to promote it. But it was western premiers, in particular Peter Lougheed, that drove the bargain that got the clause into the Charter. My recollection, dim as it may be, is that Lougheed told Trudeau that support from Alberta for the Charter required inclusion of the Notwithstanding Clause.
This link leads to a commentary from 2012 regarding Lougheed and the Charter negotiations. U of Calgary Law school.
https://ablawg.ca/2012/09/24/peter-lougheed-and-the-constitution-notwithstanding/
The beef I have with Trudeau the Younger’s little speech is that he has twisted usage of the notwithstanding clause into a picture of a nasty racist telling the poor POC that he knows he’s trampling his individual rights but he’s going to do it anyway because he can. Again, my dim recollection is that those premiers pushing for the clause were trying to protect their Provinces from the Federal Government.
Lastly, I have as many issues as anyone else here with the many failures of other governments to stand up to Quebec’s bullying. This time, though, I believe that what they are really doing with their Bill 21 is trying to protect their culture. I respect them for that. It’s too bad that no other Government in this country has the balls to do the same.
Yes and the west made hero’s of their premier’s thinking it was a plus for the west.
The western premiers were conned and traded away “property rights” in the process.
Any word salad the sock monkey puked out is to be understood as a pretentious statement to feed to his supporters.
The fact is that the NWSC was put in the administrative paper shuffle called repatriation to keep the ruse intact. This country, for better or worse, was built on the principle of preserving the government not the nation.
For context how’s this?
There is a parade forming among the political grifters to fight this law in Quebec, he’s trying to find a way to get in front of the parade without becoming the target.
Only context that matters – Tuck Frudeau, I & II*
* Let’s hope his pending Build Back Broke fares as well as Buck Fiden’s.
Since Kate used my earlier comment in her update, I think it’s only fair to allow me a response.
Yes Kate. The Turd is a douche. He loves China’s basic dictatorship, and I wouldn’t doubt for a moment if he were to take advantage of the very thing in the constitution to give himself absolute dictatorial power, which is the very thing he is lamenting — the notwithstanding clause. I am on board with all of the anti-turd sentiment.
But I’m not about to go off halfcocked claiming that the Turd is actually saying what you suggested he said. I’m not about to play that game. That’s the way we lose credibility. So let’s just hang the turd on something he really says or does. I’m sure he’s already given us enough rope to do the job by now. (Proverbially speaking, of course… just in case somebody’s watching this board. I wouldn’t want to get Menzied by the Turd’s bodyguards.)
So I will reiterate that context IS important.
“So I will reiterate that context IS important.”
Absolutely it is.
But still… what a mind-numbingly STUPID thing for a Prime Minister of Canada to say out loud.
BC, ” what a mind-numbingly STUPID thing for a Prime Minister of Canada to say out loud.”.
Well, he is mind numbingly stupid, and he is the Prime Minister of Canada, soooo……..
You may have missed the lesson plan in the “New Rules” category.
They don’t care about credibility. They only care about winning, and wanting us dead.
It’s just an example of specious argumentation being used to attack a result he doesn’t like. Got a laugh from the “I’m no better informed than the average professor of law and history” line. Thank you great leader for your words of wisdom.
The Notwithstanding Clause is all that prevents the judicial class from appropriating legislative power from the people and their elected representatives. Of course, if there wasn’t so much grist for the judicial class’ mill in the rest of the Charter, the Notwithstanding Clause would not have been necessary.
Context is always important.
Having said that, even without it, it still doesn’t matter because Trudeau is Kim Jong-Un with China’s help and a gullible population who couldn’t give a damn about province’s rights,
Let’s see this struggle go to hell. I’m sure Quebec will let Ontario tell it what to do and the various “communities” argue about how important they are.
Context is everything, and in this case the ‘context’ is everything sockboy has said and done for the past 6 years.
Trudeau is 100% in favour of dictatorial politicians being able to do whatever they want to whomever they oppose without any scrutiny, checks or balances, so long as he’s the one doing it. The only thing he objects to is someone other than him having that power. He’s perfectly happy to distort and destroy the Bill of Rights and his communist father’s meaningless Charter so as to selectively oppress political opponents in service to his own psychotic vision of a socialist utopia. Just as Stalin and Hitler only really disagreed on whether to wipe out the Jews or the kulaks/bourgeois first in order to build their respective visions of a perfect society, the only thing Trudeau really disagrees with his fellow Quebecois totalitarians on is who the threat to his project is and who the untermenschen to be ground down are. Trudeau is perfectly aligned with PQ hard-left socialism and their mindless penchant for spouting chiliastic green nonsense that would obliterate the economy; he just thinks that instead of wasting their political moment going after headscarves, they should be using it to stomp on the people who enjoy driving cars, not paying 50% of their salary for food, not freezing to death in the winter, and who still retain a flickering vestige of commitment to unimportant things like freedom of speech, property rights, and the zany notion that government should be accountable to the people, and not irredeemably corrupt.
He’s totally okay with the PQ’s methods, he just thinks they should be focusing on you and me. Remember that.
DN, Well stated!
In a nutshell, Trudeau doesn’t like the notwithstanding clause…… because he doesn’t like the idea that some province may not agree with his pronouncements from on high.
Basically, Justin doesn’t like to be told no. It’s a common trait amongst rich spoiled brats.
I agree 100% with Kate. To hell with the perceived context . Both Trudeau’s Sr. and Jr . are avowed communists.
Trudeau Sr. was an arrogant SOB who despised the peasants and in his own words (his book) openly praised Mao. It is no surprise that Trudeau Jr. has all the characteristics of Trudeau Sr. except intelligence.
A history lesson (below) especially for Justin’s drooling followers.
