Reason- The Packers Have a Unique Way To Fund Stadium Improvements: Ask Fans for Money

The “shares” are nothing more than wall-hangers … and Jesus, people bought em …
I’m from Wisconsin and have one share of Packer Stock. I bought it voluntarily and with full knowledge. So, you prefer some rich asshole who bribes a mayor and city council to fork over $1 billion in taxpayer money for a new stadium? OK susnshine.
You think just like a Democrat if you call what you do, thinking.
Naming corporate sports franchises after the city their ‘home field’ is in has been one of the cleverest of marketing scams in western history. It is little different than Walmart calling their store Vancouvermart or Calgarymart and then threatening to totally abandon if’s customers if government won’t fund a bigger store.
So, the next time the Aquilini Canucks play the CSEC Flames, remember how YOU are being played by the fat cat millionaires and billionaires running “big sports”. They will gladly shit on your loyalty to the team for a few bucks more.
Kudo’s to the Packers for a novel approach to not sleaze money from taxpayers. Sounds like that particular organization actually earned the right to call itself the “Green Bay” Packers.
Sure. I’d be voluntarily funding a league of kneelers.
Isn’t the Packers the one team that doesn’t have Colon Krap-in-dink types playing for it? At least they keep it it off the field.
Every pro sports team ownership should be the same as the Packers. Fans pay voluntarily, not the public. And I’m a sports fan.
More fools and their money soon parted. “Professional sports” is dead to me, with all the BS that has been happening. I could give zero ****s about a bunch of spoiled millionaire social justice kneelers.
$300 USD / each
When St. Louis got the pay for a new stadium or else threat from the Rams’ ownership several years back, the attitude of the general populace was very much “don’t let the door hit you on the way out” and the area’s politicians had the sense to side with the citizens. People were sick of the drama.
Now that I think about it, if an owner wanted to pack up and leave on short notice, where would they go? I suspect St. Louis and San Diego wouldn’t be overly interested. Oakland, don’t bother. Somewhere with a sufficient-sized college stadium that could be shared for a few years like what happened in Minneapolis a few years back when their new stadium was being built? Maybe Salt Lake City?
correction, “Green Bay fudgepackers”
I thought that was the Green Fudge Packers? I’m obviously behind the times…
Part of the reason I’ve been a Packers fan since the “Battle in the Mud”. Go Pack Go.
If the cheeseheads want to voluntarily give the Pack some cash – go for it. Best idea I’ve heard in a long time. Beats having to pony up taxpayers money.
I was a Philadelphia Eagles fan for the last half century but NFL football and all its SJW/BLM/black national anthem garbage is pretty much dead to me anymore. It’s SEC/Big 10 football or nothing for me.
Couldn’t watch it. Two stupid people talking about that of which they know nothing.
Workers building Maple Leaf Gardens were paid in stocks because there wasn’t enough money. I wonder what those stocks would be worth now.
Probably a 10 buck Loblaws gift certificate and a sombre lecture from Ryerson about releasing the Carlton Street Mohawk Clan from their colonial shackles.
I would prefer this to forcing me to to pay higher taxes to fund billionaire owners and multi millionaire players. I’m a working man and let those who enjoy the sport and those making money from it pay for it. Otherwise they can subsidize my snowmobile and the trails along with my quads. It’s ridiculous that we should have to pay for these stadiums.
