Ezra’s advice to start with simple things such as refusing to wear the mask, is excellent; that is, to at least not participate in the COVID propaganda.
For several weeks now I have not worn a mask in any of the four grocery stores I frequently shop at here in Vancouver. Over that time I have witnessed only two other maskless customers. Shocking!
Here’s a new strategy I’ve been testing that works really well. DO NOT ABUSE store employees; they are abused enough. If harrassed by one, very politely re-assure him that you realize that they are just doing their job BUT ask if he is authorized to refuse service to a maskless customer. I first tried this at a artisanal ice cream shop that had been very strict on masks. I wore the mask and asked the server if the store policy was to refuse service. He said, No it would be too much bother, too much trouble. I then removed it. But like Ezra I carry one in my pocket.
And the next time nurse Ratched at my neighbourhood supermarket harrasses me I will use this approach rather than simply looking at her and passing by.
