There should at the very least be a push to make these unions fully democratic. In this day and age, there is no reason to allow a bunch of lesbian and transgendered activists being sent to make decisions like this on behalf of the entire rank and file. I was eventually suspended from Peesack for pushing for this kind of change and accountability from the national president. Blue collar men (and even some women) in our local hated the union. I made the mistake of representing our views. As you might guess, I was not welcome in national union affairs. Perhaps it was comparing the national president to Stalin?

The key concern is whether or not two days are sufficient? Isnt it racist in itself to demand that these poor individuals have to show up almost the full month working with white people? Canada is on a great path to a bright future. Only you will need to have these lazy white people showing up to work and then tax them to be able to distribute the income among the non-racist people.

Two extra days off for blacks means additional people must be hired to make up the slack. This was sold as a way to increase the membership. The uni-comms see it as a way to increase dues revenue.
The taxpayers, as usual, get screwed.
They won’t hire more people. Those not included will have to pick up the slack. Being privileged racists, they deserve the extra work and no extra pay.
When was the last time you saw a member of a public union work harder? If you did, the world was coming to a violent conclusion.
It may surprise you but not all members of public service unions are paper pushers. Although vastly outnumbered and often ignored, p-o’d and bewildered, Peesack (they hate that) had many blue collar members. The last time? Me, before I retired. Although I wasn’t digging ditches, 16 hour days were not uncommon.
I am aware there are exceptions to the rule.
Sooooo how will they determine if you’re Black, or Black enough. Do they have a color palate to hold up to your face or arm? If you’re Black do you get 2 days and if you’re Half Black do you get 1 day? What if you’re Half Black and look white, with skin the same color as an Italian or a Greek?

At the oil refinery I worked at during my undergrad summers, the union, part of the old Oil, Chemical, and Atomic Workers (OCAW), was a right royal pain in the butt.
There was always something that some rabble-rousing whiner wanted the company to provide, such as a dental plan. If it wasn’t included in the current contract, all that he had to do was wait a few years for the next one and push for it then.
