I sat through many anti-colonialism Sunday sermons more than 40 years ago. According to the preachers, the ANC was doing the work of Christ and Nelson Mandela was a candidate for sainthood. Ian Smith, on the other hand, was the incarnation of Satan.
Now that South Africa is turning into yet another craphole , I haven’t heard one peep from those same people about what’s happened. But, hey, it’s ruled by blacks now, so who cares, right?

“Ethically sourced” and “Fair Trade” are code words. Meaning, liberals keeping the locals living in 16th century conditions. That way they can feel like sophisticated tourists if they ever decide to visit there.
The British were big miners of South African gold and then they just upped and left. Of course the mines were down to 3-4 km below surface and tough to make a go of – but I digress.
This thing about changing over from coal to natural gas. The problem here is that there is no reduction in energy use, just a 50% drop in CO2 emissions (no change in behavior, but a measurable change in emissions). What happens when they stop shipping natural gas?
Plus this contradictory messaging thing. There is a hidden force (trying to bring back slavery) and a visible force (people who are using us to stay in power). When Biden says “we’re going to throw the oil executives in jail” it is the hidden force talking. When he pleads for oil companies to produce more oil it is the visible force talking. We have a two-faced President, implementing the plan of the hidden force and trying to stay in power.

if when we found them they were still living in mud huts and had not yet developped writing, calendars or the wheel, it is not because of us… since we had no contact with them.
Their ” arrested” development is indeed the state they had been in for roughly 200,000 years.
It is not something we did to them as we had ZERO contact with them for 99.9% of those 200,000 years.
