I like Brian, but he’s late to this party.
It’s becoming clear that much of Canada’s ruling class hate who we are as a country.
The thought has been with me for a little while now, a sense that the people at the top wish Canada were somehow fundamentally different.
Why yes, Brian — yes they do. And they hate us in the rural west even more. And it’s not just elites. Judging by the venom launched on Liberal twitter at our politics and our industries, there’s a significant percentage who would just as soon see us dead.
Unfortunately the mainstream “conservative” commentators like Brian, Lorrie Goldstein, and even John Gormley are no match for todays progressive Canadian. It’s like they’re playing checkers compared to 3D chess. They’re painfully naive thinking we can vote or debate our way out of the mess we’re in.
The progressives have won, we’ve lost and most don’t want to admit it.
Until the asteroid comes we’re done. There won’t be a civil war, we don’t have it in us.

It has been pointed out elsewhere that one of the benefits of wealth is the ability to insulate oneself from reality. This has a rather dulling effect upon the psyche. And Canada, so far, has been one of the wealthiest countries in the world. It would seem that is about to change. And I do know from personal experience that cold and hunger do have a certain sharpening effect upon the mind.
Brian Lilley appears to very much enjoy the comforts and status afforded him in his role as a “journalist”, and is loathe to stir things up too much lest it create any discomfort for him.
Like Goldstein and Gunter and all the rest, they wouldn’t say shlt if they had a mouthful. And are careful not to upset the status quo.
I wouldn’t be terribly surprised if it was discovered he votes left.
None of our supposed conservative journalists seem aware that we are teetering on the edge of the abyss in every metric.
At least not by what they write.
And it’s their job to know.
