  1. One thing our politicians and governments are REALLY, REALLY good at is fucking things up.
I could show hundreds of fuck ups that the citizens had to pay for.

Either resolved at much higher costs or totally scraped.
Having no consequences for our politicians actions are why we are in this position today.

    1. They didn’t fuck anything up. They invented a phony baloney program where in exchange for kickbacks they could funnel taxpayer money to their friends and use the press releases to get votes next election. It worked out exactly as intended.

      1. It worked out exactly as intended

Rusty, you never fail to cut through the BS and see things clearly and succinctly. Your perspicacity doesn’t get the recognition it deserves.

Politicians and bureaucrats don’t get what they deserve either, but that’s another kettle o’ fish.

  2. And that’s not all, just what you know about. Waste, waste and more waste. Budgets will balance themselves.

  3. I’ve spent nearly $20000 in legal fees to keep an $800 AR15. What have you all done? Tut tutted about how bad it is.

    Ten hut! Bow tie ad-just!

It takes real money to hold feet to fire.

    1. Justine the gay prince would probably like to play-act Xerxes the omnipotent.

  4. So, the program is a success, since you can’t buy back what you never owned in the first place.

    1. Accomplish EVERYTHING.

Did you see how many seats the Liberals won in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Ottawa?
Power at all costs. Everything for Dear Leader. Money well spent! (If you’re a Liberal)

  5. They have talked about paying for deactivation. I can’t shoot the damn thing. Frigging FN FAL looks cool but it’s obsolete. Canada replaced it 35 years ago. If they want to buy it, they’re going to owe me at least a couple grand.

  6. Meanwhile diverse gangs in diverse Toronto continue to shoot up the streets with illegal hand guns.

    1. This gun program is designed to win the votes of stupid, scared urbanites.

      Mission accomplished.

Liberals don’t want to solve crime in Toronto. Because when the next election rolls around they will unveil yet another stupid gun program designed to win votes.

  7. They are not going to buy anything back. They will come and take them for free. The program is just another money transfer to friends and family.

  8. We are all Metis now.
So the idiot ban excludes native persons.
For some reason these Dread Assault Weapons are not to be feared if in Native Hands..
And the Supreme Court ruled that Metis are to be equal with Status Indians,,as we all self identify as Native,Metis and other…
If a pathetic moron can mess up our lives when we fail to speak the correct words for whatever they self identify as and the Minions of the State happily impose these stupid judgements …
I self Identify as whatever I need to be to evade the mindless mass of rules, regulations ,laws and State overreach that have destroyed our society.
    “Buy Back”.
Forcing me to exchange my property for some paper currency from a corrupt government ,that I will have to pay extra to cover the borrowing of..
So stealing my labour to steal my property…
Did I ever mention that Government is theft?

Do not steal, your government hates competition.

Of course part of me wonders about..What is “fair market value” for a rifle made priceless by government decree?
    Cannot use it.
Cannot sell it on open /free market.
    So priceless.

I did notice this same Government spent about $30,500 each on 200 bolt action rifles for our military…
So what would they pay for a semi auto rifle?

    Only 35% over budget?
There was a budget on this Order in Council?
I thought such orders had a cost limit…after which they must go to government for funding…?
Or does Emperor Justine now just wave a limp wrist and all shall be?

    1. Is that 30,500 a typo or did you ad in the cost of deciding which weapon should replace the venerable 303?

      1. No typo.
That was the cost/gun for the 200 “sniper packages” bought by our fearless military.
        As I recall.
Of course now I will have to go look that up as it works out to $6 million…either I erred in memory or miscalculated many months ago.
Ouch $8.5 million for 272 rifles..
But they are semi-auto so I did get that wrong.

        1. Yeah but the DoD spent $800 on plastic toilet seats back in the ’80s. Non-combat issue toilet seats. Not even camouflaged. Of course, they don’t do audits anymore so who knows what’s going on now.

But hey, those mansions outside the capital region won’t pay for themselves…

          1. DND has more senior staff at its Ottawa HQ than it has deployable troops. Guess where all the spending priorities are going to be.

  9. They’re not trying to buy back guns…. they’re getting the beauricracy in place to ‘buy’ them back at gunpoint.

  10. You guys, let’s not kid ourselves. They’re just stealing the money.

By doing it this way, funneling it through friendly contractors for a computer system to implement a bogus program, they are stealing it “legally.” Everything is done according to policy and regulations. But it’s still stealing.

For those of you afraid that they will simply come and seize your property, relax. There’s no money in that. The money is in creating the computer systems and infrastructure.

You remember the 1990’s when Kim Campbell banned all those guns? That was unpopular. No one obeyed the law. So many tragic boating accidents. Kim Campbell out of office and out of a job the same year. Huge failure.

Remember Allan Rock? Gun -registry-. Very unpopular. No one registered. More tragic boating accidents. But huge success! Because TWO BILLION DOLLARS for the registry and Liberal election wins for a decade.

This is Shiny Pony coming back to the well for another two billion dollars, and you just watched the Toronto/Montreal/Vancouver crowd lap it up like so many toy poodles.

Yep. So much winning for the Lieberals. The CPC truly is the Party of Stupid.

  11. Payroll costs, unfireable bureaucrats.
Let’s watch the CBC so they can tell us that gun crime went down * while the buyback plan was in effect, which would be only incidental and certainly not as a result of the program.
    * bullshit
