This riding must be the most schizophrenic in the country. You have to take a ferry to get from one side to the other. More than half the population is in West Vancouver, more or less evenly split between aging Euros, Iranians and our new masters from the East. It stretches north to Squamish and Whistler and beyond, and west to the Sunshine Coast, 30,000 people who didn’t move there to fit in, and fer damshure won’t give up their woodstoves and gummy bears. It’s a microcosm of the country, like some bizarre fractal where the closer you look, the more fractured it is.
Avi fits right in.

The most punchable face I’ve ever seen was that of Avi Lewis in his “interview” of Ayaan Hirsi Ali few years ago in which he offered her a lesson on what Islam is.
Did he advise her that it’s right and proper for Muslim women to accept subjugation to any male they encounter, genital mutilation, etc. etc.? Because it’s the sort of thing a goddamned Commie would do.
And married to Naomi Klein? I thought she was a Yank, how does that work? I guess they’re probably both too busy saving the world from morality to need to be in each others’ company.

The fact that this is the first time I’ve seen that a leftist well-known media figure, and mainly from Ontario in his TV broadcasting days, is running for a seat shows how in the tank for Justin the national CBC and other media actually are. No Adam Vaughan treatment for Avi from his [ex?] media friends when he might help eff-up Justin staying in power I guess.
Understand, he moved to the lower mainland so he and his wife can hold professorships at UBC in the geography department. Naomi Klein is also new Chair in “climate justice”.
