  1. Headline in the Calgary Sun today: https://calgarysun.com/news/election-2021/august-sees-highest-ever-month-of-international-covid-flights
There were 737 international flights into Canada in August with infected passengers and flight crews. They landed at Toronto 315, Montreal with 295, Vancouver with 79 and Calgary with 47. July there were 501 flights, no break down in the article. The flight crews had “no data” according to Health Canada. Vax Passports for you and restrictions on internal/external travel. Wide open borders to anyone else.
    Form your own conclusions.

    1. But flights don’t spread diseases. Because, like, if they did then, like, our dreamy PM would have, like, cancelled all flights at the start of the pandemic. Or, like, whatever. Hello!!!!

(/idiot) ((should my brain hurt after that? ouch.))

      1. Only the ones from China didn’t spread the virus.

While PM Pindick told us that international flights were banned, I personally saw, on two occasions, China Air (or was it Airlines) planes taxiing along the tarmac at the Vancouver airport. I know that one definitely wasn’t empty as I saw the passengers in the windows while I was waiting in a departure lounge.

          1. Thanks for proving the primary point: in a true pandemic, all international flights are cancelled. Dumbass.

            (/Walter)

          2. I’m, well aware of that. Delta came from India. It didn’t get here by swimming. Same for Lamda and the new one birthed in South Africa last May. The Liberal Federal government and the Premiers pushing vax passports and lock downs are complicit.

          3. PO’ed – I mostly agree, but be wary about the distinction between “birthed in” and “detected in”. For all their current problems, SA is still in some ways a bastion of western thought and competency (though the ANC is doing their best to cure that). That they isolated something doesn’t mean that they are responsible for it.

          4. I was responding to AS, not you. Seeing that Italy’s problems originated in Wuhan itself back in early 2020 (Chinese workers directly from Wuhan) and that the Chinese are every where in Africa these days, one could speculate the SA version came from China, too. What’s a few Typhoid Marys between friends, eh?

          5. No disagreement PO’d. All roads seem to lead to Wuhan. But I’m pretty sure Allan S isn’t self aware enough to understand your points. As long as Mary is tending the bar, the band is still playing, and we have our gin and tonics then it might be better to go down with the ship, wot?

(for UnMe – that’s a Titanic reference. It was a ship that sank. Men behaved as men and let the women and children have the lifeboats. It was very sad, but noble.)

    2. Are you certain enough that the vaccine will save you that it’s worth stabbing someone who disagrees with you? Free speech has its limits, but shouldn’t there also be limits on anti-free speech?

crap. Looking at the post count, I’m now officially a troll. I can feel my brain shrinking, like the wicked witch when forced to take a shower. Noooooooo…….

(thrubbbbb) Oh, thank heavens, it was only the chili gas.

    3. Flying has always been a risk, apart from the obvious possibility of falling out of the sky. I have flown a lot, business and p[leasure, and caught a cold a couple of the times. The worst was coming down with a viral pnumonia a week after a 4 day visit to the UK, I caught it on the way out because, on the last night there we had a farewell dinner and I started falling asleep during it, looking very poorly as my hosts observed. Farewell sister.

    4. I would be concerned if covid was a problem but it isn’t. The problem is the insanity making a non problem into a psychological one.

      1. Yes. We should be opposing restrictions everywhere. Asymptomatic transmission us not a great concern. WHO states this. Restrictions on travel, etc. are all out of proportion to the threat.

  2. The Liberals should be in complete panic mode. It appears they have lost the Desmarais family (the main funders of the Liberal Party, the real rulers of Quebec, and the owners of Power Corporation, the Liberal Cabinet’s retirement home).

Paul Desmarais III posts about how the Liberals are killing the energy industry and are now turning on the financial industry…

    1. Power Corp. raised Trudeau I up from the gutter and made him into was he was. A gutter PM. Does Junior not have any gratitude?

    1. A poutine truck? Don’t you just yearn for the days when politicians wore suits and ties and behaved like professionals? Still I suppose slinging poutine is the most useful, and beneficial thing Jughead has ever done.

      1. He ran a corrupt government regime, but I will admit that Uncle Louis at least appeared to be a dignified gentleman. Hasn’t been another since then.

      2. “Don’t you just yearn for the days when politicians wore suits and ties and behaved like professionals? ”

        Yes.
If Bandage-Head would go straight to a barber, the Clown Prince would lose.

    2. Trying to outdo the Doofus. Next, he will come to Cambridge, Ontario, don a kilt and highland dance. What an a$$!

  3. Breaking this early morning: ISIS-supporting Islamist stabs six in New Zealand, is shot and killed by police.

    1. So after ranting about Islamophobia and confiscating guns, what is the reaction of the NZ prime minister when a devout muslim goes on a rampage?

  4. I learned French when I was an officer in the army, so I watched some of the debate in French last night. Blackie brought up Harper at least three times.

    1. If Trudeau keeps this up Harper is gonna lose his seat.

Reminds me of Paul Wells’ Fourth Rule of Canadian Politics:
“Those who audition for the role of opposition leader will get the part.”

  5. I was in Positano on 9/11/01 and learned of the attacks in the US from a local shop owner.

It is a beautiful place and, like every spot in Italy I’ve visited, full of lovely people, great food, and awesome surroundings. Italians say it is quite easy to identify Americans – they say our clothing and way we tend to carry ourselves gives us away. Every local we came in contact with that day was generous and sympathetic; wished us well, expressed concern, and offered to help us get in touch with home.

If you like to travel and can get there these days I recommend that you go.

    1. Steve, I got to visit the Amalfi Coast for 3 days a few years ago and visited Positano twice. Absolutely magical!

  6. Whither Peter McKay? He doesn’t seem interested in working for the campaign. Guess we can assume he’s hung up his political hat.

    1. “He’s just not here for you.”

The Tories used this with great affect to defeat the Liberal pretender Ignatieff.
Applies also to Jim Prentice who quit as Alberta Conservative Leader less than three hours after the polls closed in his losing election.
And definitely applies to Peter MacKay who went home to sulk after losing the Conservative leadership to Erin O’Toole.

  7. Wonder how many watched the so called debate? All the pollsters will be busy tallying up who won and resulting pop in the polls.

    1. Whatever the tally I’m sure Canadian taxpayers are the losers here.
Seriously, only fools believe these debates change minds. It’s all about the gottcha questions.
      Were there any?
I didn’t watch. I was too busy harvesting belly button lint and the wife had her paint to watch.

  8. I was bothered all evening by the clip of Trudeau pitting the vaccinated against the unvaccinated, in very strong and direct terms. I couldn’t help but think Hitler must have given a very similar speech…..and indeed, he did.

“ Today,” Hitler proclaimed in 1943, “international Jewry is the ferment of decomposition of peoples and states, just as it was in antiquity. It will remain that way as long as peoples do not find the strength to get rid of the virus.”

    1. Sounds like Trudeau is trying to make this election about vaccinations since he has nothing else.
He himself repeatedly said the vaccine would be available for “those who want it”, what changed?

If you never prayed before it may be time to start, ask for higher help to defeat the Liberals and specifically their leader(s).

    2. I agree. His targeting of the unvaccinated who are NOT a threat to anyone brings back reminders of the evils committed in the past. Canadians should be too smart to be fooled by such a diabolical trick. Trudeau is promoting an ” us and them” Canada. Canadians have always opposed this type of scapegoating. His remarks should be met with anger by anyone who values a moral society.

  9. Anyone else notice a photo of the French debate,
Otoole was the only leader to wear a Canada flag pin.
Your pm could not even wear one, yup true canadian

  10. Further proof that the virus causes idiocy.

Yesterday, I was informed by the rental office in my apartment complex that, due to repairs to the parking area near my truck, I have to move my vehicle. My temporary stall is in the level below, which is covered.

One catch, though. My truck, including a rear canopy, the top of which is around 2 m above the ground. The entrance to the new stall is–get this–about 1.6 m high. Uh-huh…..

But, it’s more important to post reminders that I’m required to wear a mask and for all the staff to be garbed accordingly. Yeah, gotta have one’s priorities right. Then again, I’m not surprised. The office twerps are too busy attending team-building sessions to get off their butts, go outside, and see what’s actually going on.

  11. Another brilliant essay by Julian Reuchel. He exposes the totally unscientific thinking behind the vaccine push. The vaxes provide only temporary protection. They are useless as soon as a new variant arrives — and with respiratory viruses, new variants are constant.
He asks: “Why is there such a blind obsession with getting us all to take a vaccine that most people do not need and that can never provide long-lasting herd immunity?”
Good question. Do you think any if our public health people have an answer?

  12. Liberals are going to get crazier if their polling numbers keep sliding. We will be hearing more and more references to Harper, true or false. Since he’s not running and living a private life he should be able to defend himself and sue for lies and slander where applicable.

  13. Face diapers mandated for Alberta again. Just received breaking news from UNIFOR. As of Saturday 8AM face diapers must be worn indoors.
Wretched Knothead must have told Kenny she would stop letting him French kiss her ass.

    1. Quite a number of people weren’t wearing them in the grocery store I was at earlier this afternoon.

I dug out the old grubby one that I used before, complete with worn-out elastic. Nobody said zip to me about it hanging loose on my face.

  14. IF You Don’t own a GUN buy one now. And arm up. You are going to need to defend yourself.
For a great free democracy, Australia has sunk so far into the depths that one has to wonder whether freedom and democracy have any place in its future at all. Bold, underlined text is my emphasis.

Before 2020, the idea of Australia all but forbidding its citizens from leaving the country, a restriction associated with Communist regimes, was unthinkable. Today, it is a widely accepted policy. “Australia’s borders are currently closed and international travel from Australia remains strictly controlled to help prevent the spread of COVID-19,” a government website declares. “International travel from Australia is only available if you are exempt or you have been granted an individual exemption.” The rule is enforced despite assurances on another government website, dedicated to setting forth Australia’s human-rights-treaty obligations, that the freedom to leave a country “cannot be made dependent on establishing a purpose or reason for leaving.”

The nation’s high court struck down a challenge to the country’s COVID-19 restrictions. “It may be accepted that the travel restrictions are harsh. It may also be accepted that they intrude upon individual rights,” it ruled. “But Parliament was aware of that.” Until last month, Australians who are residents of foreign countries were exempt from the rule so they could return to their residence. But the government tightened the restrictions further, trapping many of them in the country too.

Intrastate travel within Australia is also severely restricted. And the government of South Australia, one of the country’s six states, developed and is now testing an app as Orwellian as any in the free world to enforce its quarantine rules. People in South Australia will be forced to download an app that combines facial recognition and geolocation. The state will text them at random times, and thereafter they will have 15 minutes to take a picture of their face in the location where they are supposed to be. Should they fail, the local police department will be sent to follow up in person. “We don’t tell them how often or when, on a random basis they have to reply within 15 minutes,” Premier Steven Marshall explained. “I think every South Australian should feel pretty proud that we are the national pilot for the home-based quarantine app.”

Other states also curtailed their citizens’ liberty in the name of safety. The state of Victoria announced a curfew and suspended its Parliament for key parts of the pandemic. “To put this in context, federal and state parliaments sat during both world wars and the Spanish Flu, and curfews have never been imposed,” the scholar John Lee observed in an article for the Brookings Institution. “In responding to a question about whether he had gone too far with respect to imposing a curfew (avoiding the question of why a curfew was needed when no other state had one), Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews replied: ‘it is not about human rights. It is about human life.’”

In New South Wales, Police Minister David Elliott defended the deployment of the Australian military to enforce lockdowns, telling the BBC that some residents of the state thought “the rules didn’t apply to them.” In Sydney, where more than 5 million people have been in lockdown for more than two months, and Melbourne, the country’s second-biggest city, anti-lockdown protests were banned, and when dissenters gathered anyway, hundreds were arrested and fined, Reuters reported.

Australia is undoubtedly a democracy, with multiple political parties, regular elections, and the peaceful transfer of power. But if a country indefinitely forbids its own citizens from leaving its borders, strands tens of thousands of its citizens abroad, puts strict rules on intrastate travel, prohibits citizens from leaving home without an excuse from an official government list, mandates masks even when people are outdoors and socially distanced, deploys the military to enforce those rules, bans protest, and arrests and fines dissenters, is that country still a liberal democracy?

Canada Operates Under The Same Penal Colony Rules As Australia. We need rid of the Westminster Parliament and we need a REPUBLIC were the CONSTITUTION CONTROLS THE GOVERNMENT NOT THE PEOPLE.

  15. Fuck em, Fuck em All w/extreme prejudice. I for one have had quite enough of the in yer NAZIism. No more.

Let’s see how many are going to wear these Bullshit masks. I want one that has 1/4” wide pores….let’s see what the fascist minions have to say bout that…Anyone know where one could acquire that in Calgary.??

      1. There’s no money to keep the highways in decent condition but there’s money available to bribe people to poison themselves.

Speaking of lousy highways, when I made my road trips to my house 4 years ago, the bridges across the Smoky River, about half an hour’s drive out of Grande Prairie, were in good shape.

Earlier this spring, when I started driving my truck, I noticed substantial potholes on the decks. A few months ago, one bridge was closed for repairs and the traffic detoured around it.

Projected completion date is September of next year. Way to go, Kenney.

  16. I found our “Election Tune”,warning may cause further brain damage..
“Drip Fed Freddy” by Madness and Ian Dury.
Even firing 300 rounds this week did not dislodge the damned tune.

  17. If They Can Force Vaccinate You, Can They Remove A Kidney Next Week.
    What Is The Difference?
You No Longer Own Your Own Body. The State Does. You Are A Farm Animal.

    1. Uh, the tune is that of the anthem of the former Soviet Union, a country not exactly renowned for promoting liberty.

    1. “For the love of God” Then offers a $100 bribe using taxpayers money..
Which God do you think Kenny is calling upon?
The God of Money and Power?
Or the God of Pimps, procurers and parasites?
      Inquiring minds want to know.
