June 28, 2021 — Ottawa rolls out aid program to help farmers adopt cleaner technology
“We saw a business opportunity because of all the chatter in agriculture with the expense of drying grain,” said chief executive Lyall Wiebe. His pitch to farmers was simple: You’re sitting on your own fuel source.
August 4, 2021 — Burn your scarce and expensive cattle feed

My dad has always had a dream of a tractor that could run on grain dust. The stuff that builds up on combine screens and all around the elevators and inland terminals.
Some have even tried to build one over the decades. Basically, the Perpetua motion tractor.
Well, if you could “harvest” all the dust and stubble, you might be able, at some expense, be able to turn it into liquid fuel.
One problem is that modern Diesel engines are fairly fussy about what goes in the tank.
Many stationary engines and tractors from about a hundred years ago were capable of running on just about anything, once you got them started.
“Barn finds”; the new wave in agricultural machinery?
Of course, making alcohol as a fuel WILL raise the spectre of “government” attention. As will re-processing oils, etc. Make sure you have a backhoe attachment.
politicians.
still busy solving 1 problem by creating thousands more.
especially liberals.
Bad times are coming.
“…consumer demand is rising for sustainably produced food…” Hmmmmm…interesting. I gotta tell ya…I think we’ve had it too good for too long because I’m just not in that category and people I’ve talked to don’t much care as well. I’ve always left it to the farmer to make the right decisions with respect to land stewardship and best practices, not some gov’t egghead in Ottawa. Start tweaking the process with idiotic gov’t policies and it’s going to break down quickly, leaving yourself open to some unpleasantness. A couple of lean years coupled with sky high prices and I guarantee you your average consumer will step on their mother’s face in their rush for food regardless of how it’s grown.
And seriously, who here thinks the SSGA’s proposals for drought relief are unreasonable??? For the amount of money we’re fire hosing into third world shitholes there’s a part of me that thinks Ottawa is intentionally fng with the farmer just because they can.
It’s all planned. Bill gates is the largest land owner in the USA and every farm he buys goes out of production. Why you ask. Well
you can’t have food shortages if the farmers keep farming and little rat faced bill want to depopulate the globe. Too many useless
eaters in his eyes.
I know a guy, used to build swathers back in the 80s. He took them over to Russia, and assembled and sold them to the farmers there.
Several things:
Every tool he ever took with him, never came back.
So he started acquiring local tools.
There were two grades of steel in Russia; military and the other.
Military grade tools lasted. The other ones were basically single use.
The farmers knew what they were doing.
But the farmers had to follow the orders of the bureaucrats.
Every year, they would be waiting to start harvest, someone from Moscow would come out and order them to start early.
He watched thousands of square miles of swathed to early grain rot away. Every single year.
The name of the game is always bigger government. Bureaucracy is like a out of control cancer that grows and grows simply
because the more duties and responsibilities a bureaucrat has the bigger his/her paycheque. Politicians who supposedly
control the bureaucracy always want more power and control so the taxpayer gets screwed on both levels which always
leads to higher taxes and less freedom.
This is why AIDS has as “S” on the end. To stop farmers from applying for it.
So if you buy these fancy dryers, you aren’t burning propane or natural gas, but you are burning biomass, what are the other emissions that come out of this new biomass burning dryer? and of course, how do you dry the biomass before using it to dry your crops?
With the biomass drier, of course. Less sarcastically – start with some dry feedstock, then divert some of the output back to the drier. Hopefully there’s a net gain, otherwise you’re just chasing your tail…
Shrug. Nothing really new here.
The farm organizations have been licking the arses of politicians for decades so that their memberships stay relatively content. They secure this loyalty by (a) keeping closed marketing systems in place and (b) delivering up various forms of welfare … all at the expense of the consumer/taxpayer.
