My friend Mark, 36, is a “catch” by many New York City standards. He’s good-looking, highly educated, and a talented photographer. He’s also progressive and participates in protests and gives to left-leaning causes. And Mark is looking for love. He wants to get married and have kids.

In a liberal city like New York, swimming with single women wishing they weren’t, one could assume Mark wouldn’t have a problem finding a mate. And while he dates and recently had a couple of short-lived relationships, Mark remains single. He’s trying to understand why.

“I’m really open-minded and cool about gender stuff on dates, but I always feel like I’m walking on eggshells,” Mark told me. “If I pay for dinner, it signals I don’t value my date as my equal so I’m super casual about it all. If she wants to pay or split it or whatever, that’s fine with me.”

    FYI: that bit about always walking curbside is horribly old fashioned. Sometimes you have to walk with the woman on the curb side of the sidewalk, depending on the neighborhood and what may come out of the alleys.

    Many years ago, listening to my car radio, I was greatly amused by a Michael Moore routine in which he contrasted liberal and conservative fathers. He saw the liberal father as weak, indecisive and vacillating and saw the typical conservative father as strong and decisive with a line something like: He grabs his car keys and tells the kids to jump in car, we’re going to Sizzlers.

  6. Robert, a few years ago you complained about your difficulty with young liberal women. Being so long out of the chase, I was a bit puzzled. No longer! I GET IT. In fact I’ve been mesmerized by the predominance of female screamers in all those tiresome protests being foisted upon us. If I were a young man on the make today I’d seek out Eastern European women ….. as The Donald has done.

        1. If I went out with a robot, at least I’d be in the presence of something that’s logical and rational. It would be preferable to some of the flakes and fruitloops I was associated with or even dated. (The less said about them, the better.)

          With my luck, though, I’d probably end up with one like Pris (played by Daryl Hannah) and, since I surmise that you’ve seen the movie, you know what she tried to do to Deckard.

  7. A generation of broken families where men were raised by only women with no male role models and people wonder why those very men now behave like women.

    1. Throughout the centuries, there have been women who have – from various circumstances – had to raise their children (both boys and girls) alone. The big difference for those orphans has been the engagement of other males (uncles and grandparents) in their lives. Dad can never be replaced, but having uncles and grandads actively participate in their lives will give the kids the needed male perspective.

  14. These women have had instilled in them insane standards and expectations. Despite their many glaring flaws and self absorption, they demand perfection in a male.
    Squishy liberal men are rejected and conservative men won’t have anything to do with them.
    If you’re a dude, it’s best to keep everything light and breezy with liberal women and never entertain the idea of marriage. It will end badly. For you.

    1. Sage advice. Looking at the wasteland that is modern personal relationships … I envision a marked increase in arranged marriages. I already witnessed something like that with my own daughter who met her husband via an arranged meeting brokered by a close friend of hers. I believe my daughter was DONE with the random dating scene. She fled NYC as all she met were people with great “stats” … who looked good on paper … but were sketchy as hell in-person. She found her LOVE in LA … yes, a Canadian man.

  17. You know, this guy’s whole schtick is virtue signaling to conform to what he perceives to be the other’s values…but in the end, the other’s perceived values are also virtue signaling.

    People are so bent on how others perceive them that they throw away their own personal identity in the process (which would have set them apart from others).

    In short: grow a pair and live by your own principles and values…and take a step away from the “likes” and “subscribe” mentality of this wasted Youtube generation.

      Too many people think the height of ethics is to abandon their own values in favor of achieving someone else’s values.
      Till the dude has abandoned all his own personal values\likes\dislikes and he is merely a puppet on the strings of his female owner.

      And even the most narcissistic among us eventually get tired of puppets. And the puppet certainly gets no respect.

    White liberal females have many mental issues, they are very confused or even dysfunctional, very irrational, want one thing and its opposite, and very very angry.
