1. Leftists have always blamed the U.S. for Cuba’s troubles (sanctions dontcha know) so they’ll just carry on with that meme just like they did with Venezuela. Look for Biden to provide aid with all the flair of the “Marshall Plan”.
   Hong Kong’s case is/was different…there isn’t a Western nation to blame so they’ll do what they do best when a totalitarian gov’t beats the shit out of the citizens…remain silent and look for distractions.

The reporter, based in Washington, DC, breathlessly blamed the American embargo for all of the problems that are currently driving the desperate Cuban people into the streets. She even sought out a university “expert” to confirm her hypothesis. I know! Stunning, hey?

      In other shocking world news, drunk English soccer fans broke into Wembley Stadium before yesterday’s Euro Championship game. London police and Wembley security guards were overwhelmed. Who could have possibly foreseen that problem?

   1. South Africa (worked). Cuba (working, close to success). Iran (working, needs another decade). North Korea (only work if everyone supports the embargo (ahem, China, ahem)),

      They work slowly. Very slowly. But they do work.

7. Cuba and Canada have a lot in common, except they have better weather. Socialized medicine, check. A ruling class not subject to it’s own laws, check. A co-opted press, check. A uniformed political goon sqaud, check. Censorship of information and the internet, (in progress). The only real difference is one country has a Castro as leader, the other one used to.

   We have been going though hard times since Trudeau the First tried to grind us all between the millstones of taxation and inflation. There have been some lulls, a few “less hard” years here and there. But it has never really stopped, has it.

   We have yet to produce the strong men that will bring good and prosperous times again. Maybe it simply is not within us.
