This website has some disturbing stats on the assets versus liabilities picture of various governmental jurisdictions.
Keep in mind that the stats stop at 2019 so they do not reflect the recent explosion of pandemic debt.
Below is the situation in Manitoba. By changing the focus of the URL you can discover the extent of your own province’s descent into insolvency.

Check out population projections.
Looks like Alberta particularly, but also Sask are gonna see huge gains in population.
From where I wonder?
Alberta from 4.4 to 6.6, no other province is going to see near that percentage growth.
Gotta get rid of that conservative mindset.
With the planned demise of our major industries, resources, what are all these extra folks gonna do in Alberta? Farm? Oops, diesel. Manufacture? Oops, the market is 3500 km east of here. Trains = diesel to get it there. Build condos? We burn natural gas to heat and light them. You can’t build enough whirly wind gadgetry to supply the required electrical demand. Quick Dick McDick demonstrated the “wind” power capabilities of SW Alberta this week….. nothing was spinning. Hundreds of them. https://twitter.com/i/status/1413678816426438660 There is no such thing as Globble Warmenting ™ happening any where in Kan-eh-duh, even out here despite the blathering about it. Enjoy the winter.
I think the federal #Libranos are going to open the floodgates of immigration.
So if you need anyone who can sweep the floor of your shop, you’ll have plenty to choose from.
I’ve worked with “a few” people from far away lands who told the gov’t of Canada they were employed as gas fitters or plumbers and had been given some type of status via apprenticeship boards for past efforts, pending successful completion of school in some distant future…. when I worked in Sask, one of them was unable to pass first year tinsmith apprenticeship school as “numbers just weren’t his thing” …
The Turd announced last year that their target is to raise immigration to 1 000 000 per year by 2030. Not including refugee claims of course.
Is Ontar-I-Owe still the most indebted sub-sovereign borrower in the world?
Since instead of voting for a Mike the Knife, we voted for a Doug the Slower
I thought that distinction belonged to Commiefornia.
Probably…
Net Debt for Ontario for 20/21 fiscal year is $396.8 Billion CAD
Debt for California currently is at $362.5 Billion USD gross
it’s hard to compare because of different Government Accounting Methods
What I find interesting is that the liabilities seem to increase 50 to 100% more than the assets in any given year on this graph.
That is about what I expect from government performance, things always cost twice what they are worth.
Keeyask?
Keeyask.
You choking? Call 911.
Hydroelectric: drowns vast areas of wilderness. NEXT!…
…you twat.
Dams are made of cement …..CO2 out gassing and generation of greenhouse gases in the reservoir, forever: https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/hydropower/hydropower-and-the-environment.php
Most folks are uninformed on hydro power as a “green” process. It isn’t.
Forever, you say?
According to the article, still good.
“However, given the long operating lifetime of a hydropower plant (50 years to 100 years) these emissions are offset by the emissions-free hydroelectricity.”
Yep, dams can’t be built or maintained without massive inputs of fossil fuels. The truth is nothing can be built to produce electricity without massive fossil fuel inputs. So called green energy does not exist in any form other than direct energy from the sun, without solar panels.
“Hydroelectric: drowns vast areas of wilderness. NEXT!…”
So?
Cities drown, in concrete, vast areas of wilderness also, but mainly in southern Ontario, over farmland.
