Broaden the base, he said…

The federal Tories are finding out what happens when you treat your base as if it were expendable.

Bricker says the COVID-19 pandemic has continued to made it difficult for opposition leaders like O’Toole and Singh to campaign in traditional ways and make themselves known to Canadians — particularly O’Toole, who Bricker says is still a “stranger” to voters.

That’s because O’Toole is practically a stranger to his own party members. The Covid debacle is just the tip of the iceberg.

50 Replies to “Broaden the base, he said…”

  1. Does anyone know what O’Toole stands for?

being “not Justin” is insufficient to get me to vote for them

    1. Actually to be honest not Justin is enough for me but he is Justin but with competence which is scary as hell.

    2. He has to be about the most useless sack of shit to hold the party leadership in decades. What they were thinking when they went for o’fool instead of Peter MacKay who was way more electable is beyond me. I am not saying MacKay was perfect but so much better than o’fool.

      1. Hard to argue Peter MacKay is electable. Do you remember his no-message epileptic strobe lighting campaign launch? There’s a reason he didn’t go anywhere as the former PC leader and why he didn’t win the nomination this time around. With the exception of Pierre, I think the CPC should look outside sitting MPs for a future leader.

    3. He stands for whatever Trudeau stands for. The CPC is Liberals running under their low brand label. The CPC support all Liberal policies with their own little flavour or nuance. Just like Harper he had to get on his knees crawl. And blow Quebec and eastern Canada for votes. Canada is a fake Democracy. They are all the same Uniparty. Lib/CPC/NDP all the same shit. In Western Canada vote Maverick get rid of the CPC out of western Canada. Don’t waste your time on CPC FAKECONS

  2. He could have easily made news by taking Trudeau to task instead of virtue signaling bs and his idiotic carbon tax loyalty card crap. Whatever let’s just get this over with so we can rebuild and maybe get a real leader.

  3. Time to triple down on the global warming apocalypse. And double down on the wokeness. This time it will work. (He types sarcastically)

  4. So predictable, for those of us who recognized him as a (very) Red Tory right off the bat.

He’s more liberal than Justin Trudeau.

    1. I don’t think o’fool is that big a lefty …. he is simply very, very stupid with all the political cunning of the village idiot.

      1. Any village idiot is head and shoulders smarter than any of the political leaders in Canada. The fact that the Liberal government is still in power after the Carbon Tax, the SNC scandal, the WE scandal, the Internet censorship and the latest gun grab is testimony to the lack of intelligence that sits ensconced in the Canadian Parliament by all members of the opposition. To be ruled by the buffoons that pass themselves off as politicians is evidence of the intelligence of the Canadian voter.

    2. Red Tories fall into the trap of thinking that if they just present themselves as “Liberal Lite” then there is a supposed mass of voters who don’t like the Liberals all ready to vote for them instead. The trap is that the Liberals have spent decades salting the earth with attacks such as “anti abortion!”, “social conservative!”, “Christian fundamentalist!”, “anti science!” and let’s note forget the old classic “hidden agenda!”. So those same (mythical) voters who would be seeking “Liberal Lite” will simply ask, “When did you stop beating your wife?!” and proceed to vote Liberal anyway.

Can’t win. Can’t vote our way out of this. Trudeau will remain in power until the corruption stench grows so foul that Canadians reluctantly vote he (or, more likely, his successor) out for a term or two. Only to return the next pretty Liberal leader to power to repeat the cycle.

      And that’s Canada for you.

  5. It’s not difficult to be an opposition leader. Step 1: oppose. Starting with the lockdowns, interprovincial restrictions, mask mandates, and vaccine passports. But when you’re the leader of the official opposition and you support all these policies, I guess it begs the question why would you oppose them? Hence, why the opposition isn’t gaining traction. One of Canadian politic’s greatest mysteries though to the zit faced poli-sci majors advising the CPC.

    1. … politic’s greatest mysteries though to the zit faced poli-sci majors advising the CPC.”

Yu got it man, though there is no mystery, it’s a standard practice in the so called “Conservative” party to keep the up with the woke.
      Know this from experience.

  6. We’ve see stupid amounts of morons like him wearing “officer” ranks in the “CAF”.
    Bring on the decline

    1. What is this CAF of which you speak? The Air Force that has no planes, the Navy that has no ships, and the Army that has no tanks. This from the country, that had the third largest Navy in the world, that had designed and built the fastest plane in the world, and the Army that made the biggest advances against an enemy on D-Day. That CAF died when Peason became Prime Minister and Trudeau #1 put a stake through the heart and buried it.

  7. “Tories are finding out what happens when you treat your base as if it were contemptible.”
    Fixed that.

We could’ve had Max. This time we’re going Maverick.

  8. When you stand for nothing you will fall for anything. The good thing is they will be decimated. The bad thing is if we let the Liberals run amuck for 5 more years we may not be able to fight our way out of this .

  9. So I could vote for Erin O’Trudeau or Justin Toole……. Yeah hard pass.

    1. Yep not voting this time. No reason to bother. I used to volunteer for the CPC. Many such cases.

  10. He’s no stranger to me. Hell, I’ve seen his type for 40 some years. An amiable loser, nothing more.

  11. I didn’t even look. I am just going to assume the colonial colon licker and Oz have already doubled down. It is all they have, trying to insult people into bitterly clinging to a dead political party.

You want something new? Vote for something new. You want the same policy wonks that thought up residential schools and the 60s scoop? Then keep voting for the same people you always have. Because they are all still there as permanent staffers in the NDP, the CPoC, the Liberals.

FYI, they have all already apllied for the jobs in Maverick, Buffalo, … .

  12. I’m good with that .
    No conservative to vote for.
1,just one out of 328 Oath Sworn “representatives” opposed the rule by panic from this minority government..
Of course the citizens are still too stupid to understand, vote NDP and Green, you get liberal..
Vote “progressive Conservative” you get liberal.
And I am good with The Children’s Crusade and Emperor Justine being “reelected” by our Eastern Comrades, why we have not declared our independence from these fools and bandits is beyond me..But another 5 years of Justine and Friends ought to collapse the country real nice.
We will not be leaving Canada,it passed away some years ago, just after the funeral for our old pal Common Sense.

  13. Ah yes, queue the “Conservative leader is stranger” media strategy. Right on time guys. Depending on how well O’Toole polls it’ll either be the “Conservative leader is anti-abortion” or “RAYCISSSSSS!”

  14. So the Conservative party plan of losing another easily winnable election to the most corrupt incompetent Government in history is going just as planned. You did it guys, congrats.
Says everything you need to know about Canadians and Canada that a black faced CCP owned Globalist POS despot is leading in the polls.
The choice of three bigoted Canada haters and a Stool. Pierres one party State has arrived.
    May the biggest bigot win.

    1. Sean, you forgot, Narcissistic, Arrogant, Evil, lying, Stupid, Idiotic, self absorbed, Drama queen!
I could state about another hundred or so “attributes” but what’s the point, so I’ll just add etc!

  15. All the major parties have stolen the policies of the party to their immediate left leaving the Conservatives under O’Toole as the new LPC, the LPC as the new NDP / Green Hybrid, and the NDP as the new Communists. The communists and greens are SOL as are the conservatives, many of whose former voters will stay home or vote for unelectable alternatives. I don’t know about the Bloc because they aren’t actually part of Canada. The CPC has been spamming daily for donations from a base that they have invited to leave, covered in O’Toole urine, all thanks to their outsourcing of strategic policy thinking to twenty something poly-sci grads whose political comfort zone is somewhere between the Communists and the Liberals. Too bad getting rid of O’Toole and the party power brokers has to come at a cost of Liberal majority rule for the next 5 to 10 years after which the country will be a goner.

  16. Could of had Max.

I think I saw this on this site.

Anyone that wants to get Canada back to being a free country for ALL Canadians has to finally understand that the CPC is no longer the answer. The CPC is a globalist party that will destroy Canada. They just they will do it at a slower rate then the fascist Liberals.

Mad Max who is willing to go to jail to protect Canadian individual freedoms is the only answer now.
Vote PPC next election. I say this as a life long Conservative and Reform voter.

    1. Screw Max and anything else from Quebec and east of Manitoba. Vote Maverick. And when Albertans have enough support for Independence get out of the Shithole Canada.

      1. I am a Albertan and will vote for AB independence from now on. I am done with Canada but at the federal level I will vote for the PPC until AB is it’s own country. As long as AB is in Canada you are only hurting yourself and all of Alberta if you vote for anyone other then the PPC or even choose not to vote at all like I did in 2015. In that election I choose not to vote because there were no real option to vote for. In 2019 I voter for Max because he and the PPC are now the only party willing to represent all Canadines and protect our freedom. That said if Max and the PPC some how won a federal election I will still be voting for AB independence. Canada is broke and there is no fixing it. AB may be salvage but TBH am not even sure that is any longer possible.

    2. So what is your alternative then? The only leader and party talking about fundamental Canadian values and individual freedoms is Max and the PPC. Voting CPC is voting to destroy Canada.

  17. Trudeau says it’s not a Carbon Tax but a levy on pollution.
O’Toole says it’s not a Carbon Tax but a savings program
Bernier says it’s a Carbon tax and he will scrap it.

    1. Max is OK, but he is still lying like all the rest.

Where is the guy who is not sugar coating a single thing?

Hard times are here, and they are only just getting started. No one is going to “be saved” by voting for any particular person or party. The best you can hope for, is the guy who says “things are not going to get better for a long time, but I will try to make survival as easy as possible”

Because that is where Canada is. The stupidest among us still think they will be collecting OAS and pensions; but those bankrupt pogroms are gone but for the crying. Your registered saving? Confiscated as easily as the guns in High River Alberta.

  18. This is nor a rocket science.
Conservatives support conservatives, since there are no conservatives in the so called “Conservative” party, hence there is no support.

    Who you gonna call?

  19. News flash, Conservative Party – O’Toole is NOT “practically a stranger to his own party members”.

    He’s persona non grata.

Lie to your base, O’FOOL! Tell ’em one thing and then do the exact opposite! Ignore ’em when they tell you not to go down that road – YOU know what Canada NEEDS!

Your members know what the Party needs, and it ain’t you. (-_-) mb

  20. O’Toole is a big disappointment.
But he will never get a pass from the media, so people will not be informed. Only negative coverage.
He’s getting bad advice. The carbon tax thing is just plain stupid.

If he wants to get noticed it’s very simple, follow Singapore’s lead and declare COVID an annual flu, and demand everything open up. He will get support. Stop the case counting, protect the vulnerable and put a stop on the vaccines for kids and the coercion of healthy people to take an unproven “vaccine” or whatever it is. If people want to keep wearing masks, fine, we will know who votes for Trudeau.
The worse outcome for Canada is a Trudeau majority.
Canada will become the North Korea of the Americas.
I can hold my nose and vote for O’Toole to stop him, although a coalition of Maverick and CPC to form government would be a good outcome.

    1. “He’s getting bad advice. The carbon tax thing is just plain stupid.”

True. And if he had brains he’d realize it, and if he had balls he’d say so.”

  21. Re: ‘Trudeau also earned high marks for his performance as prime minister, with 52 per cent of those surveyed saying they approve of the job he and his government are doing, ”

That unfortunately says all that needs be said. I despair for this country – stick a fork in it , it’s done like dinner.
