I said that a trans woman would be stronger than me, because I’m a biological woman. So they asked how I would define a woman, and I said that my classification of a woman is somebody who is born with a vagina and the ability to menstruate.

    In Ottawa, I frequently meet people who have presumably functional male genitalia and secondary sexual characteristic.

    To find anyone resembling a man, you’re best off going to the States or to Israel. They’re very thin on the ground here.

A number of months ago, maybe even years, I read that the classification of gender, and even the word, originated from the 50s era to provide data as to which genre (gender) a human hermaphrodite leans – male or female. I didn’t dive into the origination much more than finding an reasonable and convincing history of the word and stopping there. Just thought that’s interesting info but I can’t say it’s not in error.

      Sometime in the early part of the last century the word “sex” got verbized, which made older people from the Victorian Era squeamish, so the younger people started using the word “gender” in its place as a noun, to mock the euphemisms and sensibilities of the older folk.
      It was in the 50s that gender theory developed around the word. For how that all went down your search term is “John Money”.

    2. Did all the best emigrate? Mine arrived 1816-1840 in Canada, some during “the volcanic year with no summer”. They got an axe, maybe a few rations and if they did something useful on the assigned property, they got title. They could all read and write somewhat, thanks to Presbyterian schools and made sure that they found good teachers for their many offspring.

  12. I just grind my teeth in those times I either watch network news or even read the National Post. Both of them bought into the continuing mental illness of singer Demi Lovato today. Lovato has declared herself to be they/them which makes no sense whatsoever within context of the English language .

    Yet at every opportunity to refer to Lovato as ‘she’ or ‘her’, they substituted ‘they’ and ‘them’. Linguistically speaking, not too different from professing that vaginas belong to everyone.

    Lovato has a history of mental illness and addiction. I also suspect that as a ‘mature’ woman in a highly youth oriented and competitive field, she’s needing a publicity boost and something to make herself relatable to a confused Gen Z.
