The gif in this post reminded me of a day my wife and I wife went to a Blue Jays game in Toronto. We sat up in the 500 level and it was a hot, sunny day. Around the 7th inning two girls in their early-mid twenties sat down behind us. One of them said, “It’s a lot hotter up here compared to the 200 level.” Her friend replied, “That’s cause we’re closer to the sun.”

Alberta Healthcare cards have no picture. They are handed around freely among recent immigrant populations. I have never understood why a driver’s licence doesn’t double as a healthcare card. For those without a driver’s license there is a government photo ID from motor vehicle offices. It would also make too much sense for the Federal Government to farm out gun license to the same system. It would also make too much sense to add Canadian citizenship status to use as a voter ID and a travel document to the US. Oops – can’t have that because Liberals think black people are too stupid to get photo ID.
My Alberta Health “card” is card stock, circa 1993. The last one issued to me. Wrinkled, crinkled and limp by now. No picture and they had the gall to whine a while back about all those folks from elsewhere having access to health care and they don’t even live here.
I was drilling a well near Sylvan Lake once (north of Calgary about an hour) and had a requisition faxed to me to get some blood work done by my Doc. So went to the Sylvan Lake hospital to get it done. No can do. Had to drive down to Calgary on a bit trip to get it done,….because it was issued in Calgary.

I got a Pfizer shot on April 1st in Region of Durham. Had to show my photo ID twice.
On the other hand they let me vote in the 2024 US presidential election. The guys volunteering at the tables said they were from some voting machine company in Toronto. Dominos, or something like that.
