Devious or Stupid?

I’m thinking it’s both.

Food Crisis of 2021 in Europe

We are staring in the face of a serious food crisis in Europe as food prices rise continuously, and with further draconian COVID measures within the EU, they are bringing the food supply chains to a standstill.

All the indications that the world is heading for a serious food price crisis are in play. The Food Price Index (FFPI) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) averaged 107.5 points in December 2020, an increase of 2.3 points (2.2%) compared to November 2020, which represents an increase for the seventh consecutive month.

What is clear is that if we see a significant food shortage, that will also lead to major social unrest and political upheaval would be the result. The mismanagement of the EU government may in fact be their undoing. After all, in the course of the current crisis mismanagement as people have lost jobs and told to stay at home or else, their purchasing power has also decreased simultaneously. This is the worst of all possible outcomes and it is why I question are the leaders really this stupid, or are they devious?

The world is by no means prepared for a food crisis. In major cities, the crisis becomes paramount. In Germany, for example, the VAT stands at 19% for basic food and other everyday items. The European high income-taxes and drastically high VAT taxes further reduce the purchasing power of the common citizen. Add to that the problem of distributing food in a crisis in cities. It has long been realized that even cities like New York have at best a 7-day food supply. A crisis that becomes prolonged will result in a collapse of civil order.

There is no question that the upward trend in prices has been set in motion by the coronavirus restrictions.

  1. My guess is they are going to starve way more people than died of Covid, maybe they already have. Very few of the dead will be in Canada because we have an abundance of food. My guess is that China is taking care of itself as it always does.

    1. You wish. Canada produces wheat, soy and beef. Try getting through a winter on that stuff. We import just about anything processed. We even send our fish to China for canning so what makes you think we have lots of food?

    1. Did you ever play the game RISK? It is partly about geography, I think. It was always easier to take over if you took over North America, possibly China/Russia. Any properties in Europe or the Middle-East were doomed.

    1. Been doing that long before this Covid plandemic started. Stock up on lots a rice beans and other stuff. On my trip to the grocery store I usually grab a few cans of what ever that expire in 2 years or more. A wood burning stove might be wise as well.

      1. If you’re buying a bunch of rice and dried beans, or freeze-dried food, powdered milk, etc better make sure you’ve got a water supply and/or a means to make water potable.

  2. Maybe the US – which is to corn output, as China is to rice, could stop burning 40% of their production in their f-ing gas tanks.

The eco-Stalinists wouldn’t like it, which is all the more reason to stop burning food, now.

  3. I wouIdn’t worry too much about the high cost of food……once the carbon tax is impIemented, everything wiII be just fine. PIanet wiII heaI…unicorns wiII abound, and the air wiII be cIean and cIear.

Greta and Justin both said so.

    1. “unicorns wiII abound”……hmmm…..anyone have any recipes for Unicorn?….a stew, perhaps, steaks, roasts, and we could make glue with their hooves. Hope they aren’t too gamey.

  4. Dear Europe,
My garden is bigger than your garden.
And my pasture is bigger than your pasture
    Signed, Canada

    1. Memo to Canada:
Alberta and Saskatchewan’s pastures are no longer your pasture.
We got out of Canada Wheat Pool slavery and we ain’t goin’ back.
      Get stuffed.
      Signed, Wexit supporters

      1. Dear Canada:

All of your pastures will soon be ours.

        Xi Jinping

        P. S. Up yours!

  5. COVID CLIMATE CHANGE FAMINE…. Purely manufactured like most Famines by Government.
They will blame anything other than themselves

  6. What are you all fretting about? Special Climate Envoy, John F. Kerry has lectured US to buy ONLY local grown food. Kerry has claimed food shipping is both unsustainable… and immoral. “We should enjoy melons ONLY when they are in-season … in our hemisphere”. You don’t suppose the supply chains are being INTENTIONALLY squeezed … to self-fulfill Kerry’s “unsustainable” prophecy? You know, kinda like making energy prices “necessarily rise” to MAKE people use less energy?

Leftists have a long history of STARVING millions of people to death.

    1. I’d like to know where all the tomatoes for Heinz products come from? After all, his second (and current) wife was first married to Sen. John Heinz, heir to that rather large fortune. Kerry’s first wife wasn’t a slouch in the wealth department either, so it’s not like he’s had to worry about his grocery budget during the past 4-5 decades.

Kerry’s is also the elitist urban snob mentality I’ve seen elsewhere from people who preach buying local to the point they become insufferable.

    Gee, ya think?

Meanwhile Ford and his brain trust have just locked all of Ontario down for yet another month, because they simply can’t comprehend that there is anything outside of the GTA, throwing the entire service industry out of work yet again, with everyone’s savings already depleted and personal debt at an all-time high. He’s already pretty much killed a good chunk of the private sector and impoverished half of the population, so I guess it must be time to bayonet the wounded.
So is he a closet globalist deliberately helping Justine bring about the Great Reset, or is he just an idiot?
If there’s anything I’ve learned from spending the last six years wondering if the Liberals were malicious or stupid, it’s to embrace the healing power of “and”.

  8. Nah, it’s not stupidity, they’re just setting us up for the inevitable “Great Reset”. It’s all about CO2. We didn’t get fresh fruit in December until we could fly in fruit from California, and more importantly Chile. But we can’t do that anymore and save the planet. Those food have to become more expensive. We can’t continue to eat meat, either, so if we use Covid to restrict the movement of cattle, poultry, and pigs, that’s another big win. Then when Covid comes back every year and we have to lock down for the winter we’ll reduce our emissions more and those bad poor people who take cheap flights will have to stay home and freeze. Covid is the perfect climate change hammer, it couldn’t have been designed better…

    1. Hope you like potatoes.
We’ll be fine. Probably. Umm… maybe. Just don’t read any Irish history books.

  9. Fun fact
When the costs go up, those in industry need capital to operate until the payment for the goods clear.
Meaning more borrowing than lenders meaning increase in lending costs ( aka interest rates).
As the money flow tightens up the spend thrifts either get religion on economic matters or they go bankrupt.
I don’t see the current government in Ottawa as one that is good with economics or religion.

  10. Government created starvation? Tell me again what do we need government for?

The misanthropists, AKA Club of Rome green fascists, have captured governments. With the assistance of the UN I might add.

  11. They know.

Our masters WANT roaring inflation. That’s how they plan to stiff you on obligations they had no intention of meeting (and it’s a great way of turning otherwise good and decent people against their Jewish neighbours).

The only debts that they ever pay on time and in full are those owed to global finance, to the Red Chinese, and to the big men with guns who stand between them and the tax-slaves.

The sooner old white people face complete financial ruin because their monthly pensions won’t cover the cost of cat food, the sooner the old whites can be flung out on the street and left for the Canadian winter to polish off, while their homes are sold to Chinese “investors.” Fortunes will be made this way.

  12. What is clear is that if we see a significant food shortage, that will also lead to major social unrest and political upheaval would be the result.

Didn’t they say the exact same thing about global warming?

    1. Europe could use some more “political upheaval.”
Just enough to displace the Brussels euro-crats, and not quite enough to set off a war.

    2. Global warming won’t make a child’s belly swell out like a pregnant woman about to start birthing and is unlikely to make you desparate enough to pick up a weapon. Watching your family starve will change a lot of things. Think French Revolution on a much grander scale.

  13. I heard that some herbicide active ingredients are in short supply. It looks like the summer spraying program is going to be sparse. Expect lower yields.

  14. Everything they are doing is designed to destabilize Western Civilization. They are breaking traditions, cultural institutions, economic systems, everything.

This is militant postmodernism. They are pushing for wide ranging societal collapse, hoping that they can pick up the pieces after and form their own kingdoms after the fall.

  15. Apparently the US cheese stockpile sits at over 4lbs per person.

However, reading Red Harvest, the story of Ukraine famines and Stalins genocide, it was all about food, controlling food, and destroying the society and structures that fed people. You have a little extra, then you are a Kulak and the enemy of the state. No one was allowed surpluses.

I really hope the wheel doesn’t turn that far back, but we seem to riding a wave of insanity.

  16. Yeah, I’m sure the nutritional value of corn will keep you healthy. Maybe you could clone yourself an extra stomach.
