One reason I’m going to start driving to my house in B. C. again is that I’m tired of having to wear a face diaper whenever I enter and airport and board a plane. In addition, to that, everyone’s a karen or kevin now, harassing one if one doesn’t do exactly like everyone else.
One way I manage to keep myself maskless for much of a flight is to stretch out my consumption of the refreshments. I eat the biscuits one small piece at a time and drink only in very small sips.
Just yesterday, in my local boutique grocery store, I encountered a frail looking woman of indeterminate age in the produce Dept. Why was her age indeterminate? She was wearing a bulky overcoat, a hat with large round floppy brim. A plastic face shield, double mask, and a neck scarf.
I did a double-take, thinking she must be making some kind of a reverse pandemic panicky satire … but nope … she was dead serious. I doubt she was over 60yo, because virtually EVERY 60yo white person has been vaccinated here in my lilywhite (and Asian) suburb. And if she had some kind of pre-existing condition, she would have been vaccinated. Nope. She is just one of the Lemmings who believes she can “save her life” by going full “cocoon” in public.

I’m sick and tired of how people have been manipulated during the past year. When I go a walk I refuse to move when I encounter people approaching me on the sidewalk. Several weeks ago, I went over to the nearby shopping centre to pick up a package from the in-store postal depot there.
I went over without a mask. Along the way, an elderly lady, who was wearing one, came in my direction. I gave her a bit of space to pass by me as there was room on the sidewalk, which is normal and courteous behaviour. She, on the other hand, turns her head away from me as if she had no faith in the mask she was wearing.
Go figure.
Poking at someone like that aggressively with the pointy end can be considered “assault with a weapon”, but explaining that to a walking hysteric is pointless. Bear spray works better if you need to get down and dirty and it’s effective range is 25 feet or so. Well beyond the guidelines of “walking during a pandemic”. The government lockdowns and media fear mongering have created a lot of mental illness that will linger for years, even if all restrictions are eventually lifted. Many years ago, the FLQ planted a few bombs in mailboxes in Montreal. For years afterwards I had an involuntary nervous thought walking by a mailbox, despite the bombers having been caught. It’s not something that can be turned on and off at will.
Remember that; sister visited a friend in Montréal during that time, and her comment was that at least she didn’t have to write home.

This is an example of the social disintegration that lock downs and mask mania are causing. The masks are dehumanizing, and on a subconscious level, we develop hostility towards other people. Fear amplifies the hostility. This should be taken into consideration, but I do not think the bureaucrats are that aware. Their only basis for making decisions is case numbers, and they do not even know how to assess the significance of those. Asymptomatic transmission is not significant, but bureaucrats seem unaware.

Yeah Unc, if she had poked it at me, I would have at least reshaped it. She would have had to traverse home on one pole, that, or walked home with a severe limp every time she planted the reshaped pole in the snow. I’m sick and tired of how people have been manipulated during the past year. When I go a walk I refuse to move when I encounter people approaching me on the sidewalk. If they’re terrified of catching covid they can bloody well move. 9 times out of 10 they do. In the rare event someone walks past me on the sidewalk, I give them a thumbs up.
In the last month I’ve shaken hands with a couple buddies. One I hadn’t seen in months and the other years. I said, “Fuck Covid I’ll shake your hand.” They both laughed and agreed.
During a trip to my house in B. C. a few months ago, a couple came by to look at something I had advertised for sale. As is customary, I introduced myself and extended my hand. Both of them refused to shake it because of, well, you know.
It’s rather hard to conduct business when people do that sort of thing. So much for my house, my rules.
Several weeks ago, I went over to the nearby shopping centre to pick up a package from the in-store postal depot there.
I went over without a mask. Along the way, an elderly lady, who was wearing one, came in my direction. I gave her a bit of space to pass by me as there was room on the sidewalk, which is normal and courteous behaviour. She, on the other hand, turns her head away from me as if she had no faith in the mask she was wearing.
Go figure.
Poking at someone like that aggressively with the pointy end can be considered “assault with a weapon”, but explaining that to a walking hysteric is pointless. Bear spray works better if you need to get down and dirty and it’s effective range is 25 feet or so. Well beyond the guidelines of “walking during a pandemic”. Works on the dog too, if it gets involved.
I walk with a cane. There’s a wealth of self defense vids for cane folk out there. Best just dredge up your “out of ammo, no time to reload your rifle tactics” for close combat with annoying people you meet out walking during …… well anytime. Quieter too, especially on hysterics when the first thing you do is disable the voice box. While they’re choking and gasping for air, you can stump away quickly to the bus stop.
She walks alone, because she’s annoying, or embarrassing to be with.
If it were me she assaulted, I would make sure she would have to purchase at least one new pole.
