The Left’s Greatest Hero

In the upside-down thinking of Clown World, Florida governor Ron DeSantis is a callous villain and New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern is a caring hero.  Of course there’s this:

The latest from “success story” New Zealand, which is now in its 4th lockdown (this 1 because of 1 case):

They’re debating whether to punish people for getting infected with COVID-19. It must be “rule-breakers” causing these repeated lockdowns, they say.

But hey, if the entire population supports endless destruction of their freedoms then good on ’em!

    1. Ouch! I suspect she straps one on every morning …

BTW … whatever happened to “blaming the victim” was a bad thing?

    1. In 1918 a deadly pandemic hit and ravaged the world for two years. Then in 1920 commercial radio broadcasts started and the pandemic ended.

      Coincidence?

    2. No one voted for this crap is the point. Have they even bothered to conduct a fake poll in new Zealand to see how many support being in prison over the flu?

    3. The guy sounds like a nut bar. Doctor or PHD and kook are not mutually exclusive.

      1. As I once heard on CBC’s Quirks and Quarks, having a Ph. D. provides no immunity against foolishness.

        1. My experience is there is an inverse correlation between PhD and common sense.

  1. If you are not a New Zealander, married to a New Zealander, or in possession of a work visa acquired before March 2020, it is now all but impossible to enter New Zealand.

To put it another way, all the Kiwis had to do to bring Wuhan flu under control was to tell the Chinese to stay away—what Canada should have done in March 2020.

It worked—or at any rate it worked far better than what we did. Life in NZ resembles the old normal much more than does life in Canada—at least if you didn’t make your living catering to rich Chinamen on holiday in New Zealand Province.

A more interesting question is why Beijing allowed their clients in New Zealand to slam the door in the faces of their betters.

(Answer: Canada has a porous land border with the United States that could be exploited by Chinese agents. New Zealand doesn’t.)

    1. So Madame Communist Leader is doing all this to keep the Chicoms out of Kiwiville?

      Fat chance.

    2. New Zealand benefits from geography. As for Canada, it should have done what Taiwan did. Taiwan was very carefully monitoring everyone who came into Taiwan as early as December 31, 2019. Because they knew that China was lying from the start. They knew that the W.H.O. was covering for China. Taiwan tried to alert the world. The W.H.O. and its sycophants (including Trudeau and Tam, who is a W.H.O. stooge) did all it could to kick dirt over the warnings. As a result, Canada enabled and even assisted the viral spread within Canada. And for that, Trudeau and Tam, et al, should be held responsible.

If you take the Taiwan death rate per million from the Wuhan virus and apply it to the Canadian population, Canada would have a TOTAL death toll from the virus of FIFTEEN! Canada has a current death toll of 22,463. The new daily case rate of Taiwan is 5….or .21 per million. Canada’s new daily case rate is 2,956 or 78 per million.

Also, Taiwan had some of the lightest “government stringency” on the planet. Taiwan didn’t play any stupid politically correct games in regard to the virus. Canada did.

  2. I might add Canada is what would happen if New Zealand was bigger. Sheep are gonna bleat for shepherding, regardless of geography.

  3. Punishing people for getting COVID sounds like a swell way to encourage people to not test, not report, and not seek medical treatment.

People show a remarkable inability to see more than one move down the chess board.

  4. “But hey, if the entire population supports endless destruction of their freedoms then good on ’em!”

Exactly. They voted for Jacinda, they have to suffer if there is to be any possibility of learning anything.

    1. Jawohl Field Marshal Windbag!
They all deserve it, including those who did everything they could to prevent her from taking power.

      1. – and hey why not?

We all suffer under Little Potato, including the (majority, last time, of) voters who did not vote for him – who held their noses and voted for Andrew Who and the CON’s in fact, because they were the only Party that had a chance of showing him the door.

“Democracy – two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.”

        1. Canadian politics is a clown car disaster. The libs are headed for a cliff at one hundred miles an hour, the greens and dippers want to speed up, and our loveable cons want to slow down to ninety, under the fallacy that going over the precipice last, is best.
Let me know when Canadians buy an auto with working brakes, and a driver that passed driver Ed, but please don’t blame us because you want to jump in with the clowns!

  5. The Wuhan flu is nothing some earthquakes and volcanoes couldn’t show up.
As far as I’m concerned the sooner the better.
But throw Jacinda into a lava flow just like an evil ring because she rules them all.

  6. This is a lie. You can stream the America’s Cup online right now and see that Auckland is completely open – no masks and huge crowds with no social distancing. I’m sorry but I’m calling BS on “NZ is locked down due to 1 case”

    1. The post Robert linked to is dated March 1st. Auckland was in “level 3” lockdown (essential work and shopping only) from around February 28 to March 7, with “level 2” elsewhere. It delayed the start of the Americas Cup, which is particularly amusing in light of your post.

As for it being due to one case, that seems to be more or less correct. They had been concerned about the UK variant for some time, including a lockdown earlier in February. But this lockdown was prompted by one case that they couldn’t trace and which they figured had been contagious and not isolated for a week.

I don’t know what New Zealanders on the street (or not on the street) actually think, but this is what they’re going to get. One of those articles says the leader of the opposition wants tougher penalties for those who don’t follow the rules. Sounds a lot like here, where the opposition opposes nothing.

  7. It seems like just yesterday … the en Vogue retirement destination for Americans was … New Zealand. Far from the Nuclear Armageddon. Far from the degradation of the natural environment. And most importantly … a gun free zone. In fact … NZ is so safe … nobody has ANY rights or freedoms. As safe as San Quentin

    1. NZ just lacks a couple of vowels. Their prime minister puts ours to shame; he’s a piker in comparison.

  8. Let’s see … an epidemic of ONE? One also wonders how that person caught that virus when no one else had it. Perhaps viruses are everywhere and cannot be “defeated” or “eradicated”; perhaps it’s just a cold or flu.

  9. Sorry guys and girls but most of your take on it is BS

As anonymous posted there was a level 2 in Auckland back in Feb that meant that there where restrictions on gatherings and distancing rules. It lasted a couple days. Rest of the country was not affected except by over zealous event organisers mostly of the type run by the type of idiots you avoid anyway.
The reality on the ground is that most people here are sceptics regarding the whole Wuhan flu debacle. You will be lucky to see a mask anywhere except on airplanes.

As to “twinkle toes / jackass / cinders / Helens bastard / …. or any of the other references to the dismal excuse we have as a PM please remember that like all good fascist ( who’s only ever claim to work was a stint serving Tony Blair) she got the position in the first place by bribery creating a coalition of everyone else but who the majority voted for and got re-elected by cancelling the general election using the lockdown as an excuse and enacting postal voting to claim a result that is as if not more erroneous than the supposed result in the US.
While she is a superstar in the world media she is held in high distain by most kiwis.

    1. “… she is held in high distain by most kiwis.”

So, she’s still supported by enough Kiwis to stay in power. I’m not sure I get your point. That “most” Kiwis are pathetic and spineless?

  10. The Winnipeg Sun has already announced Manitoba is in for another lockdown due to soaring COVID numbers after the province foolishly loosened up restrictions. These lockdowns are never going to end.
