Last week, I visited South Florida for four days, and what a shock: Everything was open. The beaches, the hotels, the restaurants (with some sensible safety and social distancing restrictions). The classrooms are full.
The other strange thing about being in Florida was that people were happy. They were playing tennis and golf. They were going to work and getting on with their lives. Florida is a Republican, can-do kind of place.
Then, there is New York.
Only one thing to say. Feature, not bug.

Indeed. Just like Ontario and Alberta are Conservative, can do kind of places.

It is my opinion about Jason Kenny that he was an arrogant sucker that just wanted to use us hillbillies in AB as a whistle stop on his road to the federal PC leadership and then Prime Minister of Canada.
That is why he used the typical Liberal skullduggery of lying and cheating to win the leadership over Brian Jean.
His actions so far have been nothing but meek and beaten dog like.
He hasn’t called out the feds seriously on anything.
Premier Legault of Quebec said that Quebec ‘deserved’ the equalization money they get.
Not a whimper from JK.
But I’m sure there is a very stern letter to the PM in the making. Maybe.

JM and Rockyt – don’t you thing he has encountered the same headwinds that 45 down south ran into? There is a media, local and national that is constantly attacking – lying and co-ordinated in their efforts and absolutely endless! (Please Ralph come back for, oh, maybe a couple of months.)
Kenney delayed as long as he could, delaying the lock-downs. Remember it was the Calgary mayor that first imposed the mask laws, last August, followed closely by the Asswhole here in Edmonton. It wasn’t Kenney! He delayed as long as he could in my opinion. Instead we are being ruled by the Grade 11 student that has airtime every afternoon. I have never had any patience with people like her that start their sentences with “so…” or “like..” There seems to me some substance missing. And she flips her voice at the end of what should be a sentence.
Of late I have noticed that the ‘Karens’ are operating at full throttle. I have left a couple of places because irregardless of any issues I may have with breathing, I have been reminded that my ‘mask must cover my nose!’
Fuck You! I can shop on-line and you may well be out of a friggin’ job. I choose not to so far but you are in control, guys ‘n gals!

The NDPs and their media are loose! The consumers of the Alberta media are under a constant barrage of anti right-wing propaganda. We had, HAD, immense possibilities that could have played a role in elevating Alberta and thus Canada into a unique position in the world but the forces outside of our control are driving the bus.
Trudeau is not on our side. Nor are the eastern provinces. Nor are all the Greenies with their massive bank accounts south of the 49th.
I think Kenney has to get out more and filter his informers. And maybe listen to more than those misinformed whiners.

The federal government to the south serves some functions, like national defense, but for the most part it’s a leech on the states that is not much less sickening than the federal parasite of the Frozen Turd to the north.
Existential freedom within a just society can only come when both of these federal governments are shrunk by 90%.
I wonder why our wonderfull MSM doesn’t confront health ministers(i.e. Bonnie Henry in B.C.) and ask “if they can do it safely in Florida why cant we do it here?”
Speaking of the two states:
1. My old and very good friend who winters in Florida did not go this year. I sent him a piece on deSantis last week. His only response was that he’s an idiot and Trump is Mensa level smart in comparison.
2. My daughter has lived in NYC for about 20 years. Before arriving to attend music school she was crying out of fear. The night of her arrival she was giddy with delight. She hates Giuliani “‘cos he’s fascist”. At issue was his effort to bring order to sidewalk vending.

How can a State learn that socialism works until you run out of other people’s money if the federal government opens up the pockets of the other States?
My immediate family lives along NJ shore. Their case numbers average double ours in Ontario and they don’t get the lock-downs like we do.
The action levels for implementing covid restrictions in NJ are 250% higher vs Ontario meaning we in Ontario get locked down sooner and longer.
e.g. NJ = Weekly incidence rate = 100 per 100,000 cases vs.
Ontario Weekly incidence rate = 39.9 per 100,000 cases
Why the difference in action levels?
It may have something to do with Ontario modelling that predicts 1500 ICU cases when actual cases = 335.
Meanwhile I can’t visit family cuz Canada is pushing to keep the border closed while they’ve messed up vaccine roll-out further delaying border opening. It’s now a matter for everyone to do their part to build herd immunity so our lives can get back to normal.
i live in florida and life is fairly normal here, with the exception of the national chain stores and the blue city camps like st pete on the gulf coast. i make walmart give me a mask if they want me to shop there…
