50 Replies to “He Admires Their Basic Dictatorship”

  1. It’s heartening to see that Justin’s media bailout has not influenced the editorial policy of any of the Postmedia papers.

  2. Like the disinformation of quacks’ repudiating masks, then demanding that they be worn, then masks in the boudoir and then two-three-four masks at a time?

What about not closing the border because of “racism” and then demanding proof of non-infection at the border?

Oh, I know! The deliberate withholding of information about the total lack of preparation?

Or lying to the public about SNC-Lavalin or WE or fees or Chinese acquisition of Canadian natural resources?

Is that the “virus of disinformation”?

    1. The only original thoughts from our governments and politicians is how to incorporate more fines, restrictions and intrusion into our lives since this Pandemic has started.
Mind you…”We’re all in this together.” Hypocritical bastards!

        1. You mean the Ministry of Love and Room 101. That’s where you get your re-education. Oh, and you will still eventually be removed from all existence.

  3. As soon as I saw Anthony Housefather I skimmed the article and pressed “delete”. Any opinion of from him has no place in Canada. Maybe China or Russia.

  4. This article, masquerading as an opinion piece, is a liberal government propaganda piece authored by one of the Spawn’s caucus members intended to soften up the rabble for the impending censorious legislation they will impose on the country. It obviously got past the editors at the NP who should have insisted it be paid advertising to appear in their paper but then I guess it is paid advertising as they are on the Spawn’s payroll. I suspect, given its CNN style anti-Trump spin, it will get past the majority of the Ovine Canadian population too.

    1. It’s nice to see how ‘difference of opinion’ is now classified as “disinformation”. I guess some people like the security blanket of a police state that tells them; where to go, what to do, and what to think. I’ve always thought of these people as on the low side of the bell curve. Oops … I said “bell curve” … the bell curve has been “thoroughly debunked” … and is now classified as “disinformation” … good news for those on the short side of the bell curve!

  5. Absolute stuff and nonsense. Why don’t these Jobsworths & Busybodies just butt the f—- out of our lives already! “We need this b/c I/we say we need this!” FFS!

    1. David Bridges:

Q: Why don’t they butt the f___ out?
A: Two means of making a living: 1. the economic means 2. the political means (Albert Jay Nock, Our Enemy the State).

These people have chosen 2 because they could do nowhere as well via 1. That is all!

      1. Agreed. Politics is where the wanna-be big shots go to get what they feel is their due. Influence-peddling therefore comes naturally to them as they view others’ fortunes as entirely dependent on chance/accident of birth/injustice.

  6. The first paragraph was enough for me. “As a pandemic rages….etc”
Leave us alone, you pieces of control-freakish losers.

  7. Yes of course! We need an “independent” (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) body to make sure only the proper truth gets out there.

Let me pre-write all their reports for them right now. “CBC is correct. CTV is correct. Global is correct. Toronto Star is correct. Rebel News is false. Fox news is false. Justin Trudeau got 7 hole in ones his first time golfing.”

I know this is getting tiresome for me to keep repeating, but when conservatives have the ball we need to score points with it! Harper should have made Ezra Levant or Don Cherry head of the CBC. (yes, I know; Harper was only a Canadian Conservative, not an actual conservative, but you get my point)

  8. Out of curiosity, I just checked Erin O’Toole’s Twitter feed: https://twitter.com/erinotoole

No mention of this. It’s new, so let’s give him a few days. But why do I have a nagging suspicion that he will never touch upon this subject?!?

    #LiberalLite

  9. Quick, somebody get Connie Black some smelling salts.
Oh wait, he supported Trudeau, thinks he’s intelligent and a nice man.
Seems like yesterday, my excitement buying the first issue of the NP from a Vancouver newspaper box. But, alas! it was long LONG ago.

    1. Black did support Trudeau, and I’ll bet he regrets it. He has been pretty good about defending Trump — about the only voice in Canadian media to do so.

    2. Maybe you haven’t read Black lately? His praise of Trudeau was always circumspect; he has no words of support for him, now.

      1. Much as I usually appreciate what he has to say, I think Black has a tendency towards blowing smoke up the arseholes of the powerful.

  10. The new Orwellian Ministry of Truth will be “nonpartisan” in the same way as the CBC IS “nonpartisan”. MP Anthony Housefather chaired the House Finance committee who shut down the WE Charity hearings.

Btw, BNN-BLoomberg just had on one Ned Segal, Chief Financial Officer for Twitter, who carefully explained how his company is researching new technologies to help the company keep violent extremists off the network. No mention of BLM or Antifa though.

    1. Burn, Loot, and Murder aren’t violent. It’s peaceful protest. The Democrats have said so.

Antifa doesn’t exist. The Democrats have said so.

Where have we heard this before? Sounds like we’re back in the USSR.

And like the USSR, there is a doddering old fool in charge, but this one braggs about his hairy legs as opposed to the hairy eyebrows of his Soviet counterpart.

  11. A dangerous and totalitarian idea, but Canadians will go for it. I routinely follow Letters to the Editor in various newspapers. I am shocked by the number of people who are hostile to any deviation from the government narratives. Same with most opinion pieces in MSM. Canadians are a meek and compliant bunch. If any issue is controversial, Canadians don’t want to know about it. (global warming, the advisability of wearing masks, safety of mRNA vaccines are examples) Just tell us what to think. We are stuck with it.

    1. Well perhaps….but what you might be witnessing is simple the SELECTION of those letters in the newspapers. The media needs a comeuppance….of BIBLICAL proportions.

    2. Linda, Over the years I have had some success with letters to the editors of a number of publications, but in the last couple of years, and increasingly in the last six months, my views are no longer allowed. Not that I try to be controversial, but anything that might go against the grain is no longer permitted. I suspect it is a double whammy of liberal financial assistance for “approved” publications, and also left group think that now infects every aspect of our society. I don’t consider myself extreme right wing, but the further left these outlets drive their business models, the more extreme anyone on the right, therefore becomes. Just look at this attitude’s effect south of the border. Now 75 million voters are verging on the edge of being extreme right wingers, they will probably arrive (from the lefts ever evolving perspective) sometime in the week after the end of impeachment number two.

      1. Gerry..Have found the same.

Used to be “moderators” were after the 7 words ya can’t say on TV,…Good one Carlin..!!

Nowadays, it’s, full on “Your is Viewpoint is disallowed”. I got the boot from CBC as ” my views” did not align with their viewpoint. I could give a shit…but NP is increasingly cooking up the same attitude.

I simply don’t read any of their garbage…

        Fuck em…all.
I listen to Alternative News Outlets as well as Social media.

  12. “The only means to fight the plague is honesty.” (Albert Camus, 1947)

The problem is the world has been lied to be China and the W.H.O. since the fall of 2019. This is the biggest crime against humanity since the beginning of time.

  13. So…They would have to quit lying?
Never going to happen, until a shiny sharp blade parts them from their bodies.
Doubting the word of consistent serial liars and deliberate omitters of the facts,is now embracing misinformation?
Gee I wonder,Maybe if these bottom feeding scum tried doing some old fashioned reporting, where the 5 Ws come first and the opinion of a festering idiot came a distant second..
Would people actually be willing to buy their product?
Cause their current output is so toxic, that only government would fund it.

  14. Reminds me of the type of sh*theads who will set themselves up as a completely impartial observer on a given topic, then tell you why in their holy opinion you are completely wrong.
So much of what we consider opinion will soon be deemed correct or incorrect.
There are 92 genders – correct!
There are some serious doubts about climate change – incorrect!

  15. John, your last line says it all. Their toxic lies and patriot hating crap posing as “news” is as fake as pro wrestling. Covid, “FOLLOW THE SCIENCE PLEEBS”! except with the 75 genders or however many now. Idiots.

  16. I had to keep checking back to see what publication was putting this out. “protect Canadians privacy” that’s a friggen laugh. Another step toward communism I think.

    1. Ha! Imagine the Government protecting our privacy?

Hey did anyone hear the news today, the feds bragging how 20% or more of the Inuit and Northern Cree have been baptized … er, I mean, vaccinated.

  17. It seems to me that the so-called problem of dis-information is not the problem, but rather the symptom. The authors barely touch upon the actual problem–trust. The trust in much of the approved media is gone for a lot of people–and this also includes the trust in the government. They have no solution for regaining that trust as that involves continuously demonstrating honesty, integrity and competency. Instead, all they conceive of is top-down force–more bureaucracy to monitor, tattle, manipulate and enforce. They do not propose to be better or be more honest or have any consequences that affect them personally to earn that trust.

  18. As the pandemic rages. Oh come on man, as China Jo would say, let’s not exaggerate, he says as he steps over the heaps of bodies piled up in the street and the open mass graves lie fetid and putrid since all the grave diggers and fillers have sucumbed.

  19. They are so behind…I have done my part to stop the spread of misinformation…No CBC for 7 years plus!

  20. Some days, I feel like “Remember, remember the 5th of November” should be a call to action to improve upon the past, rather than a cautionary tale to dissuade people.

  21. Remember La Shaidle’s words: “You’re not smart enough to tell me how to live.” Or what to think, either.
