I’ve been saying since 2007 to buy physical silver + gold.

We quit our jobs and sold everything in 2016 & moved rural isolated north of Kirkland Lake.
We learned handy skills & have all the toys and tools to be 85% self-sufficient up here.
Been 37 months here right now and we have o regrets, especially now. 0 cable TV is a blessing.
Friends laughed at us. Same “friends” are stuck in Ottawa & GTA now.

We have done the same. Although we have always lived in rural settings but over the last 5 years have made a big push to be more self reliant. Its a lot of work but a lot of fun and deeply satisfying.
We still own and operate our businesses. That has not changed. But they are no longer the necessities they once were.
We are set up on geothermal and solar but still have grid connections as our power demand grossly exceeds our self generation capacity. We can also run a diesel generator if we want but its noisy and we love quietude.
Three of the four kids have chosen home schooling and while that can be a lot of work for some, it is a breeze for us. From a young age we taught them to be accountable and they are motivated to get through the material as fast as possible so that the rest of the day can be devoted to sports, hobbies, being with friends or hanging out with mom and dad.
