Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag und viel Glück/Erfolg im neuen Lebensjahr!
Happy birthday and much happiness/success in the new year.
Music says more than a thousand words… https://youtu.be/KIvB3k4ByB0
Sorry, Nancy.
Yo Yo Ma was invited to the White House. And while there, he played a piano piece. It just happened to have been a March written to put the Communist Chinese “Volunteers” in Korea in the right mood to kill the Americans. It was a slap in the face for his hosts.
Of course, the other people in the White House didn’t know this, but they found out later. Yo Yo Ma has been dead to me since then, no matter how well he may play.
Vielen Dank. Heute bin ich ein Rentner geworden.
So I’m a senior citizen today….. I sure don’t feel any different than when I was a young whippersnapper yesterday, though my new status has already conferred a financial benefit. I bought some Edmonton Transit bus tickets the other day and I paid nearly a third less than I would have had I paid the Adult rate. To quote the title of an old Woody Allen movie, take the money and run.
I’m not the only one in the family with a birthday at this time of year. My canine step-brother turns 11 on the 16th. I saw him last week and he’s visibly aged. His fur around his eyes and mouth have lightened considerably in the last year. Still, his age hasn’t dampened his enthusiasm for playing “fetch” nor has his impishness been diminished.
I looked through part of an on-line archive of Media Network that’s maintained by the former host soon after I posted it. I’m not sure any more if the show ever used that Allan Parsons Project tune as one of its themes. I’m thinking now if it might have been used by a Deutsche Welle program.
I used to listen to a lot of different shortwave stations during the 1980s and it was more than 30 years ago, so I’m sure my memories have become a bit fuzzy with time.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Happy Thanksgiving to you Nancy, to Kate and to other SDAers out there. In this bleak 2020 year there is still a lot 5o be thankful for.
David, Nancy, Kate, BA, and so many other regulars of the SDA family, Happy Thanksgiving.
Thanks. At least we can be grateful that we are still allowed to express ourselves on SDA. If What’s-his-name has his way, it would be regulated out of existence.
And the VERY SAME to you Nancy, to Kate for EVERYTHING and all the fabulous commentators here… !!
Happy Thanksgiving…!! We did our family get together last night with both the Girls and their respective Beaus…even managed to get it all cleaned up and dishes washed prior to crashola time…woohoo. And there’s still 3 bottles of Cab Sauv left – Perfect.! lol
Thumbs up!
The NBA says it now understands that fans want to see a basketball game not on court displays of social justice.
Somebody figured that people who attend games want, or need, to be preached to. Now that it’s finally dawning on managements, such as those in the NBA, that it might affect revenue, will someone be fired for it? Probably not.
Joe, B A: thanks for informing me that the NBA finals were on. Didn’t know that. We learn something new every day.
I have been trying to think of something to be thankful for. It is not easy this year. For every positive there seem to be even more negatives. Oh well, Happy Thanksgiving anyway.
vowg, I’m with you. It has been a difficult year for me, beginning with the passing of my mother on January 1st; it’s been downhill ever since. But, I’m still here and each day I look forward to the comments on SDA, especially yours. Happy Thanksgiving to you and, with any luck, perhaps you’ll get another golf game in before the courses close for the season.
Hopefully six more before the course closes for the year. Thanks. Lost my mother last summer and she was only 99. We did celebrate her long life.
vowg – Been thinking the exact same thing…
I’m thankful I can still make it up the stairs and I haven’t forgotten what I said five minutes ago. Your mileage might vary. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone, especially that gal Nancy. She’s so cheery. And you too, Kate for keeping this candle lit.
Wow, the socialists in British Columbia sure know how to bribe voters. First it was a promise to give everyone a thousand dollar cheque if you vote for the NDP, and now the media reports they will give free contraception to every woman. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone from here in rural Ontario. The family and I will be gathering for a big turkey and goose dinner. Then we will be taking a walk through the bush like we always do to enjoy the Fall colours.
Are there any BC folks who can confirm the claims made here:
Canadians are no longer just stupid they are dangerous.
That video didn’t show jack except some sloppy sacks of shit walking along.
Probably extras for a movie.
“Sloppy sacks of shit”. Petawawa, 1970. Music to my ears!
I heard about this a few days ago. The article claims that Stanley Park is closed. Perhaps someone in Vancouver ( Do we have any Vacouverites on SDA? ) Or someone who knows someone can verify. I had also heard about the agreement. If true, that is very, very strange. Traitors at the helm.
LindaL:
I live in the bicycle-mad, green queen, Vancouver.
Stanley Park was closed during the earlier period of the scamdemic (plandemic, casedemic). There can be no question that the noble bicycle people, pedalling to save the planet, would like to see a car-free Stanley Park. But is seems that this is considered a step too far … at the moment.
The current situation is this:
It used to be two lanes one direction counter-clockwise for cars and bicycles. Now, one lane is bicycles only, so a 50% reduction in car access. The change involved $200,000 of traffic cones for 10 kms (presumably before it’s made irreversible by future municipal pols).
A while back you could drive westbound on Beach Avenue (beautiful English Bay on your left) and near Davie Street bear left and enter the park. No longer. ALSO, cars can no longer drive east on Beach with English Bay to your right. That eastbound lane is now bicycles only.
One question: are masks required for Wreck Beach?
Shudder .. just a whole bunch of eye bleach.
They should locate all the homeless tent cities to Stanley Park, then close it off.
That way it doesn’t ruin neighborhoods in the rest of Vancouver(which is turning into a progressive shithole anyway)
LindaL *Update*
Paraphrasing Joe Dementio, “well sonofabich, those 10 kms of cones ($200K) are gone! This tells me there has been some push back. On my return ride from Whistler, I entered Stanley Park. But when I got to second beach — very close to English Bay — I was forced to continue on the drive and exit via Georgia St. which is bumper to bumper. And, sonofabitch, on grubby Denman St. I’m forced to take even grubbier Davie St. (queer st.) to see the 500 queer flags and queer sidewalks) in order to get to the Burrard bridge. Added 20 minutes at least.
Oh, on Denman there was digital sign asking us to take the Beach Avenue survey and telling us that STREETS ARE FOR PEOPLE. More evidence of push back?
Covid would be the perfect cover if they were trying yo hide something. Rerouting cars also works. There is some attention being given to this issue. Trudeau takes his orders ftom the Chinese, but I suspect the logistics for landing and hiding large numbers of troops would make such an invasion unlikely.
A caller mentioned this on the Roy Green Show last week. Roy Green was to do a follow-up. I only listen while driving around in my car on errands, so perhaps he did.
I would NOT be surprised by anything which our “poor excuse” of a Prime Minister did.
IF this is true, then Canada will be invaded and perhaps that will be a good thing. The year 2020 is not over yet.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they did come through Prince Rupert.
Around 50 or so years ago, I recall a guest minister presenting a sermon in church one Sunday. He was either from PR or had a parish there at one time. He mentioned that ships from the PRC docked there and that the crews came on shore and freely distributed copies of Mao’s Little Red Book.
So you come ashore in PR, what then, drive 12 hours down highway 16 to Edmonton. Think about their logistics chain. Through the Rockies, on one easily cut road.
US goes smash. They could never allow a hostile army to approach the head of 1,000,000 BOEd let alone rummage around anywhere near either Alaska or the Bremerton, Seattle, Hanford area.
Admittedly, what you suggest would be unlikely. But don’t forget that an invading force could easily hide in the mountains near the mouth of the Skeena.
What are they gonna eat, bugs? The logistics to house, feed and water in thatkind of terrain are monumental. I’ve lived and worked in that kind of terrain. It’s coastal….WET all the time and visibility is limited at the best of times for any type of aircraft. Then there’s Devils Club. There’s one road/rail in and one man with a chain saw could block it. Hiding? Thermal signature would give ’em away. It isn’t Guangdong. and they couldn’t pass for coastal natives, even with the black hair, wrong physique.
Even so, one doesn’t have to go far up the Skeena valley to be in rough country. On top of that, if they manage to follow the river towards its source, they’d be well into the interior of the province. Lots of mines they could pick off and even more places to hide.
As someone posted the last time this appeared,
China is unable to project military power this far and frankly that number of ‘troops’ grows every time I see this story. When I first saw it, it was 50 sorry looking souls running down a road on Saltspring island.
Think about the logistics to project a battalion for combat operations. It would be tens of thousands in naval and logistics support to feed water and arm such an obviously large group.
And let’s face it, one of the best things about being a neighbor to a super power who really can project power is that they would squash any Chinese quiet-invasion like a fly.
Nope it’s not thousands of troops we should be worrying about, it’s hundreds of Marxist anarchists we have manufactured and who are waiting for COVID to end.
VOWG, it seems the ‘V’ is superfluous. I always enjoy your comments. On point and no BS.
BADR – if you just turned the magic 65, yer just a puppy! Many, many miles left on the odometer.
Many things to be thankful for! Life, a pretty decent harvest, (Not sure about Leduc and Parkland), a new, first Grandson (hey Kenji) and a great site to explore daily. Thanks Kate.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Kanji, we’re counting on you in a couple of weeks.
BADR – if you just turned the magic 65, yer just a puppy! Many, many miles left on the odometer.
Several years ago, when I was still in my 50s, I spoke with a ham in the Los Angeles area via satellite. I think it was close to his birthday and I mentioned my age, to which he responded: “Why, you’re just a kid!”
Long life seems to be a family tradition. One of my aunts is 90 and her youngest sister is in her early 80s.
I’m going with “debunked” on this. Thanks all for comments.

Happy Columbus Day to Kate’s American followers. The fate of western civilization rests in the hands of U.S. voters. God bless America and President Trump. Make America Great Again, and maybe drag a few other western countries, especially Canada, with you. Trump 2020.
The American theologian Robert Lewis Dabney once described conservatism as “a shadow that follows Radicalism as it moves forward towards perdition. It remains behind it, but never retards it, and always advances near its leader.” He wrote those words at the end of the 19th century to describe what he called “northern conservatism,” but the description applies well to conservatism in general.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. Despite our challenges in 2020, there is much to be thankful for. Thank you SDAers for keeping me informed, grounded, and laughing!
The West Intends Energy Suicide: Will It Succeed?
The case:
Exhibit A: a professor of anthropology in Rutgers University opined that Zimbabwe and Puerto Rico “provide models (that) we need to emulate (to) save the climate by giving up the demand for the constant supply of electricity”.
Exhibit B: “Professor Fritz Vahrenholt is a giant among environmental circles in Germany… stated baldly in a German TV interview that climate science was “politicized”, “exaggerated”, and filled with “fantasy” and “fairy tales”. Note that “the electricity price for households in Germany was $0.38 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), compared to $0.15 for US households (253% higher), $0.17 for Sweden, $0.21 for France (which still has nukes)”.
And then there’s the People’s Republic of California:
Yes, satire, but funny. Is DeMarxist conduct at the ACB Senate hearings that far off the mark? Not very far imho.
“After several hours of hearings, Barrett pulled out a large crucifix and held it aloft. A light shone from the heavens, and the Democrats knew they were defeated. They shrunk back and began to hiss. “Noooo!” cried Senator Richard Blumenthal. “It burns us! Take it away!” He dove under his desk to hide from its light.”
“Agggghhhh!!!” screamed Senator Cory Booker, his skin sizzling at the sight of Jesus on the cross. “I’ll get you one day, Barrett!”
“Looks like Booker’s blasting off again!” he shouted as he jumped through the wall like the Kool-Aid Man in an attempt to escape the burning.”
Senator Mazie Hirono made a loud hissing noise and growled at the cross. Her head began to turn around and around like a demonic owl. Then, she vomited pea soup.”
LOL with Trump at 49% approval at Rasmussen today. Dems seem a dispirited and demoralized bunch, what they tried to do to the GOP which their faked scandals and polls.
Trump team got covid, but they’re all OK. Oh shit, Dems say, exposed for the partisan ghouls they are as Americans and the courts defy apparatchik dress rehearsals for climate change lockdowns, perpetual bonds, cashless economies and UN carbon taxes.
Covid has turned into the gift that keeps giving with yet another WHO/CDS reversal on lockdowns and masks.
Fox News is reporting that CNN, during the Senate SCOUS hearings, is refusing to cover it gavel to gravel, but is only providing quick sound bites followed by one-sidef opinion, then switching to Wuhan virus hysteria. The other two news networks are providing gavel-to-gavel coverage.
That should have been used in the movie. It would have made much more interesting and enjoyable.
The average North Korean living in the socialist paradise lives every day with that hope.
The timing was great. The chicks with the knee-high boots had a good spring in their step. Ouch! That goose-stepping is hard on the knees though. (HELP! VOLTARIN EXTRA STRENGTH)
Two children have been found dead in a home on an Indian Reserve near Quebec City. A 30-year-old male has turned himself in in relation to the incident. A horrible tragedy. If that male is non-indigenous, expect a firestorm of anti-white invective in the media. If he is indigenous, he will rarely, if ever, be identified as such.
I instantly recognized the CBC’s reporter, Carolyn Dunn (@2:49) that Keean Bexte bumped into. Not too friendly. What an act, pretending to be paranoid.
Looking on the CBC’s website I see she hasn’t filed anything yet about this protest. Will hold my nose and check the nightly CBC News. However, there’s this from Global. See link below.
The big take away from Rebel News is that Keean Bexte managed to capture what Global News has omitted. That is, there was an Alberta NDP MLA in attendance at the rally. Most disturbingly is that she scooted away from Keean as soon as she saw him. If her goals were honorable, one would think she’d talķ to the media to spread her message. What a scaredy-cat! This, from a person with a PhD. Her name is Janis Irwin. She represents Edmonton-Highlands-Norwood.
About her, from Wikipedia:
“Since being elected as a member of Legislative Assembly of Alberta, Irwin has been an advocate against conversion therapy by citing the harmful organization Journey Canada with its ties to this practice. Another issue Irwin has been strongly advocating on is the legal protections of gay-straight alliances (GSAs) in the education system in Alberta.”
This is what we pay taxes for– someone who wants to warp the minds of young kids. The Communist dogma comes to mind, paraphrased, “get’em young, you got ’em for life.”
Blackie’s bought and paid for TV networks celebrate Thanksgiving with great stories that Canadians are racist bastards. Mosque in diverse Toronto gets a nasty email. Police investigating. National Council of Batshit Crazy Muslims demand Justin do something about this Islamophobic incident. Black kid is upset about a nasty yearbook entry about him. Meanwhile usual diverse shootings and stabbings in diverse Toronto.
Happy Thanksgiving to Kate and Lance and the SDA family.
In spite of dire warnings from Ford we had a wonderful family gathering…so much to be thankful for!
To: B A Rupertslander,
