    1. That song brings back fond memories for me. It was on the charts in the mid-1980s and I was an active shortwave listener at the time. I recall hearing that being played on the Radio France service out of New Caledonia and maybe even privately-funded KYOI on Saipan.

It’s an interesting experience to hear pop tunes like that from the other side of the world.

      1. This is a personal APP favourite of mine:

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9e9tp3_PE8

Not only is it a great tune, but it also brings back some pleasant memories.

It was used by Swiss figure skater Denise Biellmann in her program at the world figure skating championship nearly 40 years ago. During that, she displayed her famous Biellmann Spin, to which the audience roared its approval. I remember watching that on TV.

A few years later, during the 1980s, Radio Netherlands used part of it as the theme for its shortwave listeners program Media Network, a show I listened to regularly.

        1. I don’t think I ever heard that unless I happened to see the figure skater you mentioned as I used to watch figure skating shows on occasion. I’m drawing a blank though now. It’s definitely synthesized “music.”

There are a lot of German comments in the commentary section. I had no trouble getting the gist of it. One, in English, revealed that there was Morse Code in the piece. I could see how this would work well in a skating routine. Sounds edgy, like something good for sports.

As a kid till late teens I’d skate every evening in the winter. What fun, played tag with the neighbourhood boys, my classmates! Good memories here too, we had such innocent crushes!

          1. One, in English, revealed that there was Morse Code in the piece.

Most of it’s too fast for me to copy, though I recognized the VVV used to signify a practice transmission.

          2. If I’m lucky I could manage 20 words per minute, but I’d have to focus on what I’m hearing. I usually do OK at around 15, a speed that many amateur radio satellites use for their telemetry beacons.

          3. @ BADR 2:41 am

You’ve challenged me to look up what good speed is. That’s excellent!

          4. Many professional telegraphers can do around 50 WPM. Amateur radio contesters often come close to that speed.

      2. Nancy and B.A.D. – I had completely forgotten about Alan Parsons. Reminds me of university. First thing to come to mind is one morning at the dining hall an especially pretentious Montreal kid from my residence telling another guy that he had spent the weekend listening to Alan Parsons on his headphones while studying. I didn’t have words for it then but today I would describe what he said as virtue signaling. He was listening to an intellectually superior artist, than say, Dr. Hook or Ami Stewart. I think he was a closet REO Speedwagon fan.

I will add Alan Parsons to my “Hey Google” mental playlist.

Speaking of talent, did you see this Ray Manzarek clip explaining how they wrote Riders on the Storm? It’s apparently there is
very difficult piece for the guitar, as he explains, that was written by Ray on the keyboards . Then he says “And here’s the rain part” as if that was so easy it didn’t require further explanation…

        1. Paul, Too bad the “Doors” came and went. They had some of the most original music. There’s nothing like them today. Kids today play X-BOX. The helicopter parents pay big bucks for classical music lessons for their kids, at least, which is good, but there’s only the Symphonic Orchestras, Country music @ Nashville for them to aspire to, and now nothing, ‘thanks’ (sarc) …due to the China WhuFlu.

  1. Back in about 1986, I happened to see an obscure Norwegian group called Dollie Deluxe perform on Canada AM, touring on their way to Expo in Vancouver. They performed this song, Queen of the Night/Satisfaction, a blend of Mozart and the Rolling Stones:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmaghJcbyjU

It sort of makes you think of siblings fighting over what music to play on the stereo! I found the album. Years later, when youtube came about, I learned about an operetic/pop musical the leads of the group wrote and produced, called Which Witch, that became a minor sensation in Europe. The following was my favorite song from that. The entire musical is available on Youtube:

    1. They’re cute!
Close to the original, as shown below in link. I get a real kick out of the
“ah, a, a, a, ah” nerve of Mozart and these chicks! Pretty zany!

“The Magic Flute – Queen of the Night aria”
(Mozart; Diana Damrau, The Royal Opera)
      https://youtu.be/YuBeBjqKSGQ

      1. ‘the “ah, a, a, a, ah” nerve of Mozart’
Imagine you are the chosen singer and you see those notes he’s written for the first time.
“Mozart must be out of his mind, I can’t sing that”

        1. “Imagine you are the chosen singer and you see those notes he’s written for the first time.”

Hahaha hahaha! Yes, I could just imagine that. Mozart was a smart man. We’re still listening to him 229 years later!

Yes, nold, as you say, “I, (Nancy) can’t sing that!” Haha!!

    2. My goodness! I remember hearing that piece by Dollie Deluxe on CBC’s Saturday afternoon opera program at about the same time you mentioned. I never heard anything about them ever since, so they went into my “whatever became of” file.

Speaking of Norwegian groups, this song was on the charts at this time in 1985:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djV11Xbc914

(I remember that song got a lot of airplay on WRNO, a shortwave rock station out of New Orleans that I used to listen to in the 1980s.)

They went on to perform the theme for the Bond film The Living Daylights:

    1. Soozbec, combine that article with one from the C D C last week stating that masks could not stop a virus and they were world wide headlines, maybe the stupid people would wake up to the fact that they have been screwed over. Canadians are still concerned about the terrible spike in cases, yet the stupid morons are all running around wearing masks, if masks are so damn effective why are cases increasing? Well, that is because masks and lockdowns do not work. By the way the population is still not being decimated.

      1. OWG…do you have a link to that CDC Article..? Given the Way google will try to hide good info like that, nearly impossible to find.

Thats one I’d love to shove in NENSHI’s Face.

And on that note. As of today, I will not be wearing a mask anywhere. PERIOD full stop. Enough of this Joseph Goebells style Bullshit.

        1. Why do you even bother using Google? I switched to DuckDuckGo and a whole world of other information opened up to me.

        2. You might have problems at an airport, though. Some overweight soyboy or short fat lesbian security guard might order you to put one on.

I had an encounter with the latter last week. I had just entered the Arrivals area in the Edmonton and I was moving towards an exit when one of them ordered me to comply. She didn’t like that I claimed an exemption and demanded to know more. I exchanged a few harsh words with her and went on my way maskless.

I’m sure my luck will run out eventually.

          1. You’re brave B A…
I went into the entrance of a store, just the entrance, last Tuesday, and a chick named Karen nearly had a myocardial infarction about masks. I walked out. More people should do that. Can businesses afford that?

          2. I ordered a card from Rebel News, though I’ve never had to show it. For the most part, I haven’t been challenged whenever I go into a store without a mask.

However, I’m glad that none of the critters at the airports have been issued with weapons. Some of them are so psychotic that they wouldn’t require much provocation to beat the crap out of anybody who doesn’t comply.

But just about everywhere I go, nearly all the sheeple are hiding their faces. Many of them are the same people who wouldn’t hesitate to drive well over the speed limit on the highway, but act like they’re deathly afraid of a phony-baloney virus. Go figure.

          3. I said it a MONTH AGO….we have a CASE-DEMIC…based on a BS rest that is not even designed to find viral load whatsoever…just snippets of RNA strands. Had a cold in past 20 yrs.? you test pos…had a flu in the past 20 yrs.? you test pos. Outright BS.

The current status simply REEKS of Joseph Goebells mentality and actions by the NAZI Wannabe NAZI minions that overpopulate EVERY level of our various governments.

Well, I did go out today, MASKLESS: Staples, Co-op, both the Grocery store and Liquor store maskless…no one said boo. I will continue to do so. As for the continuing deluge of utter imbeciles wearing masks riding their bikes, walking or driving their car…there’s your answer as to how EASY it will be to lead the majority of our BRAIN DEAD beyond Stupid population of utter drones off a Fkn Cliff or into an OVEN… It simply blows my mind.

Completely Oblivious to the danger they face (RFQ for Kampfs..???)..NO Different than the jews, herded into cattle cars for “their safety” and told “Arbeit macht Frei”

The LIBS – NDP – CPP – GREENS All flipping know it too..!! & IN that, they are FAR FAR Smarter than your average guy on the street.

      2. Vowg

A long time ago, the media harping was over deaths from the China Flu, and the paranoia was reinforced.
Now? Well, its not the deaths that the mediots are harping on about, its CASES CASES CASES. The implication, without saying it, is more DEATHS DEATHS DEATHS.
So, who is getting the cases? The young and millenials, out and about, living life. They know that they won’t die from the Woo Flu, they can read, it’s all around social media stating that. If this were allowed to continue, we would achieve herd immunity within a few months. But no, even converted socialist Dougie Ford wants to lock the world down. lockdowns don’t work, all they do is extend the misery needlessly.
With a 99.9% survival rate, let the ol Woo Flu run through the under 40s. Unfortunately, the socialist infection runs through our authorities. It’s the same mindset in regards to the drug addicts, “Must save lives” regardless of the method, damage, or implications

    2. The low life political scumbags and their publicists, the mass media cartel will make sure nobody knows.

They, absolutely, positively. love the power that the totalitarian diktat gives them, they get orgasmic with that. I think Jung had something to say about that.

    3. I’ve been saying for months: if Biden wins, you won’t hear another word about Wuhan flu.

The globalists will admit that it was all a bunch of hot air, and the good people ruined by it will be told to go back to work at whatever wage anybody is still willing to offer a “deplorable”—AFTER being fiddled out of their homes and businesses.

You will hear plenty, of course, about how women were forced out of the labour force due to the Trump recession.

Karen had the least to lose from this whole affair. She only worked for pin money anyway, and is mostly annoyed she now has had to take care of her own brats.

Meanwhile, her long-suffering brothers are facing a truly serious situation—joblessness and homelessness during the Canadian winter—because Karen won’t give them the steam off her piss, no matter how much she fritters away on the poor black children in Africa.

      1. Yes, except “The Globalists” won’t admit to
        a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g …for fear of lawsuits!

        1. Why should globalists admit to anything? They never make mistakes, do they?

          1. No never…”and they’re hardly ever sick at sea.
Let’s give three cheers and one cheer more for the hearty Captain of Caa-nnaa-duh!”

  2. Soozbc damnit I hate being right. I get so irritated when I know something and countless others ridicule me for my stance. Get up, get out, get over it. Tell the government to drop dead from the whu who flu if they possibly can.

    1. Yep we all need to get on with our lives. I will tell you this: I have zero faith in govt, media and ‘experts’

  3. The Liberal Party’s CBC is excited this morning that “Greta” has come out in support of Dementia Joe. How dare you, if you don’t vote for China Joe!!!!!

  4. As the Lovin’ Spoonful once sang:

There’s thirteen hundred and fifty two guitar cases in Nashville and any one that unpacks ‘is guitar could play twice as better than I will.

      1. Nancy:

A few years ago I met up with an old friend at a NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) convention in Anaheim CA; he had been a bandmate in a Rock/R&B band at university in Atlantic Canada c. 1968 and owned a music store at the time of our meetup.

John Sebastian performed solo one evening. Afterwards, we bolted back stage as if we owned the place and ended up in a longish chat with him. What a gentleman! What total originality was displayed in The Lovin’ Spoonful. Summer in the City was also a great favourite.

        1. Thanks, interesting story! Hippies are always the most polite! (exception, don’t “press their nerve!”)

These kids today, they got nothin’….

    1. The “intersectional” historical revision continues apace. Now it is naval hero Horatio Nelson whose place in history must be degraded by these useless revisionist twits.
“Lord Horatio Nelson’s legacy will be reviewed by the National Maritime Museum as part of its efforts to challenge Britain’s ‘barbaric history of race and colonialism’.”
Here is my answer to these “intersectional” idiots: God bless you Horatio, rest in peace, you have done your duty.

  5. Ken Burns’ documentary “Country Music” is a must-see, IMHO. The Carter Family, Merle, Waylon and Willie, and the boys…plus some mighty fine ladies. American music at its best; a confirmation of what makes America great and why we need to fight to keep her that way. This is my favourite version of Stephen Foster’s “Hard Times.” It helps me keep things in perspective these days:

  6. Shooting at a Denver protest. Media involved.
    Memory Hole incoming:

“A private security guard, hired by 9NEWS, is being held as a suspect in the deadly shooting. A 9NEWS producer has been released after DPD said it was determined they were not involved in the incident.”
    https://twitter.com/9NEWS/status/1315118088594108416

“The Denver shooter who killed a Trump supporter:
    -is a registered Democrat
-was a part of the occupy protests
-followed radical far left politicians on twitter
-followed accounts against cops & an account related to Antifa
-had a history of anti-Trump rhetoric online”
    https://twitter.com/ElijahSchaffer/status/1315214339218046978

    1. Good job, Deplorable me. I was wondering when someone would come up with these details.
I looked into this murder myself earlier and all that I could come up with was that the shooter’s name was Matthew Dolloff.

    2. You have to ask, why would any news agency hire such an obviously biased guy for their security? I hope the media group involved gets their rear ends sued into bankruptcy by the family of the murdered man.

  7. Sound of Settled Science – The Ozone Hole Returns to Both Poles

In 2019 there was a considerable amount of press and government comment that the ‘Hole’ was ‘healing,’ as it was unusually small, said to be due to actions taken by global governments in 1987 who signed the Montreal protocol

“I note that earlier this year the Arctic hole was the largest on record, according to Nature magazine and Scientific American… It was driven by exceptionally cold winter temperature”

    1. “Thufferin’ thuccotath! It wath a giant mouthe!” as Sylvester Puddytat would say.

      1. Man saves dog, gets a draw on points in Kangaroo MMA, kangaroo unhurt. Dog humiliated.

Man gets 15 years for not wearing a mask whilst roo-boxing.

    1. Or, JT alias…Duddy Ocean “Ocean 15 to 25…
      The Q-bec-Ottawa-Toranna Casino Capers.”

    1. ” They will respect the First Amendment and stop restricting free speech, or they will face consequences unlike anything America has seen since Teddy Roosevelt was president.””

Great words. I hope she is elected to to do something with them.

  8. Remember, Prinz Dummkopf is spending Thanksgiving with his family, going into harm’s way and doing so without a mask and possibly endangering his life…… so that we don’t have to.

All hail Prinz Dummkopf’s selflessness and bravery!
