  5. To bring to the current thread: Tanker opined that Kiwies are much more disarmed than Canadians. Bill engaged in ad-hominem to say that that’s a “common US / Canadian misinformation” that Bill would be willing to demolish.

    After a brief exchange, and wanting to learn, I added some support for Tanker’s position with this:

    Bill appears to be hoping that the thread will die, by doubling down on ad-hominems without any factual support. There have been a couple of exchanges afterwards with little factual backup. Bill, please continue the discussion here. And, to continue, please supply support to your assertion that Canadians are less disarmed than Kiwis or Aussies.

    And please keep in mind that unless you can actually back up what you’ve said several times now (but never supported) then I’ll continue to think you’re full of fertilizer and ignore your future posts.

    2. Bill’s initial reply to my comment proved right away he’s a butt-hurt gamma. I don’t engage with gammas – they’re universally toxic and need to be mocked mercilessly until they explode. Or ignored. They also hate being ignored.

    1. Tough call. Rempel is my MP. She’s one of the good ones. A weaker MP and I’d support Wexit, but I’m torn.

    2. Every time there is an article about Alberta and Wexit, the comments coming from Easterners are quite nasty. Initially this surprised me. One of the more galling comments this time was from someone who thinks that Alberta should be quite happy that Liberals bought that pipeline — so what if the pipeline is never completed. What the attitude signals to me is that there is little reapect for Alberta and the West in Eastern Canada, so continuing as one country does not make a lot of sense. I doubt Alberta would be much worse off. Time for Quebec to go it’s own way as well. Liberals will be forever remembered as the party that destroyed Canada.

      1. Lindal – anyone mentions that JT bought the pipeline for us, my response is that we wanted it BUILT not bought, and that JT probably had some hidden reasons for purchasing same.

FYI LindaL, when Ford first got elected I started pushing my MPP about either taking back control of Inter-provincial trade or using the “Not Withstanding” clause in order to get Alberta oil into Ontario. We could use it for our petro-industries in Sarnia. We could also load it in small tankers and ship it to Irving. I got put off as a bit of a lunatic. I can not see Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba objecting to oil passing through their borders. This is something that needs to be done. I am kind of disappointed that my MPP was not on board with the idea.

        Anyway, the point is that normal people out east want Alberta oil. They just get shut out of the conversation.

  12. Justin Trudeau’s CBC is announcing that Tokyo Rosemary Barton and Vassy Kepalos will be hosting a CBC News special at 5 pm Eastern tonight, as a run-up to the Conservative party vote announcement. This is for those SDAers interested in watching those two political commentators. Oh, wait. /s

  13. The main story this morning is not the daily riots in American cities, but a secret recording of Trump’s sister saying negative things about him. Yes, all the American and Canadian media is excited. I’m sure its just by chance that it has been released at the start of the Republican convention. The Democratic Party and its loyal unbiased media would never stoop to sleazy tactics like that. The North American media reminds everyone that unlike Hitler Trump, everybody loves Joe Biden. And Biden loves everybody, especially young girls.

    I started to read the comments and stopped when I noticed that there were nearly 1100 comments and counting !!!
    This essay has obviously hit a nerve and is the sort of critical examination that is needed and not published in the old media anymore.

  17. When it comes to boycotting all manner of goods from China it takes work. I refuse to patronize dollar stores and in all other retails check where stuff is made. You will note “made in China” is now changed to “made in PRC” in and attempt to fool buyers.
    It’s hard to figure how politicians high on environmental/green planks can substantiate buying goods from the biggest polluters in the World.

  20. ITS SISTERGATE! Yes that is what CNN is calling the biggest political scandal in American history. Donald Trump’s sister said negative things about him. THE HORROR! And CNN explored today how Trump and Fox News are evilly connected. They also explain that CNN is just as popular as Fox. This all has nothing to do with the upcoming Republican convention of course. CNN is totally unbiased.

  22. Back outa the bush. We were up north of the Albany River. Flew through the fire hear Fort Hope. It’s a big one. Chopper traffic everywhere.

    Fishing report: the river was very low. The trappers flipped the canoe haha…..we got soaked but recovered our gear.
    Caught some nice brookies. I got one about 4lbs. Released them and ate one smaller one.

    The flight out on Friday was a bit harry. We were loaded. Co captain Shot Jackson (lab pup) was on a short chain in the back. Can’t have him climbing around. It was hot, muggy with no wind. The Cessna took it’s time getting off the water and then didn’t want to fly. We cleared the trees at the end of the lake and pointed ‘er north.

    A bear had been in camp and tore the place up a bit but not too bad.

  26. My story of white privilege.
    When I hear about my racial privilege, I show them my teeth. There are “fever ridges” across them. When I was a bout 6 months old, I had briefly a 105 degree fever which b blocked proper calcium buildup in the enamel of my adult teeth. We had no insurance, so home treatment was an ice bath. My sisters attended a San Francisco junior high where boys fought with knives in the halls; girls used broken bottles.

    I grew up under hard circumstances. My father was on the run from the FBI. He was charged with writing bad checks by the sheriff with whom he regularly played poker. Guess who usually won and who lost. He never voted and changed jobs often.
