I’d add the following: Suppose your mask was amazing, and it stopped all particles. Well, there they sit on your mask all concentrated and coagulated. They don’t magically disappear…and the average citizen doesn’t have access to an endless supply of masks. It’s a petri dish attached to your face.
That being said, I’m of the school of thought that the benefits of this virus actually infecting the vast majority is better than this assumed delay tactic. In fact, if you will recall, the initial purpose for the mask was to slow down the spread so that medical facilities could prepare for an onslaught. Well, we’re past that stage…or should be. Now, the focus should be engineering a herd immunity. Those people most at risk should continue taking precautions. The rest of us? Not so much. In fact, I would argue that we should be doing just the opposite to increase those immune to the virus as well as an encouragement to the virus to mutate and transform (as all viruses do).
You might think I’m a lunatic for saying that out loud. But, if you go back about two and a half months I, also, predicted there would be a second virus on this very website. I, also, pointed out that I’d bet that it would effect both humans and livestock. Guess what? It’s coming. The mask rules are designed to make the sheep into conformists, not to solve the problem that has already arrived and was never within our control in the first place. Orson I agree; had an eye exam yesterday, I barely wore the mask properly as I was sitting alone most of the time and then only with one other person at a time. Tomorrow I have a dental – masks not required of course but I’ll get a temp check.
If forced to wear I will for a short time but otherwise – if you don’t want me as a face-maskless customer I’ll go elsewhere or order it online.
