  1. If Kenney can make a wrong move, he’ll do it every single day. Did he not just say his own province was going to have 6,000+ dead soon, plus hundreds of thousands of infected? If he believed his own drivel, would he not reserve his supplies for his own people? Get rid of him voters. He’s a scoundrel with a nice suit, who calls himself whatever will get himself elected.

Remember his quotes from the Reform days and his opinions of the Conservative party anyone? Kenney is the sidekick who lights your cigarette to become popular and then reveals his true lack of depth when he gets power.

p.s. take Pallister with you. Another CINO with no depth.

    1. Kenney said that more than 6,000 could die if people don’t follow the government’s isolation protocals.

But I can attest to the fact that people are isolating themselves — Calgary looks like a ghost town — and thus his dire prediction does not apply.

Be honest, even when you don’t like the politician.

  2. You think the Gliberals are applying a race filter to who gets funding these days? As opposed to political affiliation?

That’s the difference in the cases that isn’t addressed.

  3. Progressive Conservatives,,, always thinking they can win over the left and the media !

    1. Probably can’t win over the MSM but this stunt gives Kenney, and Albertans in general, some moral high ground in future battles.

  4. Hey, I’m all for helping out our fellow Canadians in a time of need. Let’s ship that PPE gear by pipeline.

    1. Eastern Canada is not our ‘fellow Canadians’. They are not like us in the west. They look down their snouts at us. I say let them gasp in the dark. Give them nothing.

  5. He should remind them what some of that PPE is made from, and how it’s manufactured, and what powers the transport that gets it there.

    Oh and Happy Easter

  6. And the “surplus” calculation was created by a “model”, right?
When the next forecasted wave sweeps over the province I hope Alberta can manage.

  7. Jason is a globalist, that simple. Every now and then, like a blind squirrel, Jason will fine a nut and puff up against Blackie but it’s all for theatre. Never trust a politician who has no children. The childless, don’t look to the future the same as those who have raised children to carry on society or farms companies etc. on into. They only look at the present and what feels good at the time. I agree with J-west, there is no helping those brainwashed by the Toronto media, they are just plain group think morons, (like, what was the Leafs score last night dude with green hair), they can have their giant outhouse, Toronto, flushing into a lake, they don’t need our oil or anything else from the west.

    1. Why do so many politicians with children enthrall their progeny with overwhelming debt and unreliable energy systems?

  8. We are a different people than the Eastern people of Canada!! Our morals and underlying religious believes that was the pioneer spirit is still alive in the WEST! We still believe in helping neighbors in NEED!
I hope we never change ! Happy Easter to All!

  9. I agree with the commenters on this thread that Kenny’s gesture is futile. The corrupt Laurentian elites will ignore this. For example, CBC News and the Globe and Mail — the two leaders in the corrupt Laurentian media — have buried their respective stories on Kenney’s gesture, deep, way deep, in the inside pages of their web pages.

Nobody will notice or nobody will care. We live in a corrupt country. Jason Kenney should realize this fact.

  10. Jason has been a HUGE disappointment. We hoped the would call a “spade a spade” when he was elected.
Instead he goes to Ottawa and whispers to the Groper about the unhappy people back home.
We will always be the :”Red Haired Stepchild” and we need someone to pull the plug and start the exit process.

  11. I guess I’m out of step here.
My view is that Kenny has just stuck a big Alberta finger into a certain someone’s eye. You know who, that guy who tried to sneak near absolute federal power into the $82 billion bailout. The guy who’s still trying to get control over the whole country with the Emergency Measures Act.
Why do I think that? Because he went out of his way on television to specify who’s getting the gear, what kind they are getting and how much. Because he had it all stacked behind him during the announcement for everyone to see.
PPE gear to Quebec from Alberta. Priceless.

    1. I like the cut of your jib. I’m thinking ahead to when the chickens come to roost.
You’re damned right – a stick in the eye to those oh sooo green Laurentian twats and one especially for the Big EnDee Pee Thug of BC. How’s that Nat gaz export terminul going Your Thuggishness? You know, eeeeeevilll petroleum stuff, while you ship Virgin Mary, union blessed COAL from just south of Hongcouver. Still filling up in Blaine, Washington? Oops, jeez too bad, now the border’s closed. Hafta buy that eeeeevil AB stuff now, eh? Where do you think Blaine gets it’s petroleum from, hot shot?
Kenny will twist the knife at the negotiating table when TMX and Northern Gateway, yes Northern Gateway is pushed to save somone’s goat in Ottywah, ’cause WE DON”T HAVE ANYTHING LEFT TO GENERATE CASHFLOW, SAVE EEEEEVIL PETROLEUM STUFF, to pay the bills racked up on COVID CRAP. Who’s gonna buy that debt, Sock Buoy, Chinah? Sold any logs or lumber lately? Cars? How about COAL? That stuff is dirt cheap to coin a phrase. How’s sales to Chinah now, John Boy, Chinah Buoy? That stuff won’t pay enough to float union wages, plus whiny Injuns, too. Sumpthin’s gotta give and soon. Dope sales are in the tank. As an Albertan, I’m not supporting folks anymore on Equalization, especially Kaybec. Pay your own friggin’ way, Jean Guy. https://www.nationalobserver.com/2018/11/13/news/guess-where-quebec-gets-its-oil
As for BC’s John Boy – you rip BCers off with power pricing, bought from UnGreen, coal fired generators in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Nebraska: https://thenarwhal.ca/clean-b-c-is-quietly-using-coal-and-gas-power-from-out-of-province-heres-why/ and prance around in your little green tutu.
Just picture that, The Prancing Green Whale.
Kaybec, now that’s a special case. Saved for a rainy day.

  12. Yesterday, the number of resolved cases exceeded active cases. Unfortunately, there was another death, but deaths do not figure into those calculations. Here in the ‘Bridge, we have a total of 9 cases. 7 resolved. No hospitalizations, no deaths (so far, knock on wood!)
If we are so confident that we are able to give away millions of dollars worth of PPE to other jurisdictions, perhaps it is time to open up surgeries so that other critical health issues can be taken care of.

I have no problem with us providing the PPE to places that need it. It once again shows Albertans to be the most generous of all in our benighted dominion. BUT, we must start taking care of people that have other health issues that ARE NOT GOING AWAY!!!!

      1. I disagree, it is exactly the right time for generosity.

Doing for our neighbor, even if a minority of them aren’t particularly decent to us, is the right thing to do.

  13. Chris..

Spot on with your comment. From what I can garner, pretty much every ER/ICU is now nearly 100% purposed for COVID-19. Were I on a Waiting list for say By-pass surgery or even a KNEE/HIP replacement, I’d be getting rather freaking Antsy to say the least.

In my case I had mine Feb 26…now have to wait christ knows how long for my knee….a surgery that has taken to date (from time of assessment), 2-1/2yrs already. That I’m still able to walk without massive pain.? Is a Blessing big time.

However there are many who are nowhere near as fortunate.

With hospitals at 30-50% capacity…I TOTALLY Agree. Lets get this moving.

    1. Thanks for that.

We can still exercise all precautions and prepare accordingly. Many of the procedures are day procedures and don’t even take a hospital bed. For heavens’ sake! We could shrink wrap the patient or put them in a giant bubble and bring them in if they’re that “concerned” about it!
There are cancer biopsies that are being put on hold!

Small consolation but there are reports of the same situation in many of the states and hospitals are laying off staff because they are not allowed to work.
Glad to hear you had your surgery and best of luck with your knee. Take care!

      1. The Cancer treatment center I go to is ongoing. Never slacked off. Headed there on Wednesday. Foothills is like a morgue now.

        1. Very glad you are getting the treatment you need. Hope you are well and headed for good health.

Maybe morgue isn’t the right word to use right now 😉

    2. Last night I checked the AHS emergency wait times website. Local hospital wait times were about 25 minutes. On a Saturday over a long weekend?!

In December, when I took my mom to emerge the wait was 4+ hours.

The entire non-pandemic focused health care system is on pause.

They are laying off docs in the US because elective surgeries are cancelled.

You’ve waited years, the system will struggle for years just to catch up to it’s same crappy spot when we are allowed to return to normal.

      1. No. It gives you political capital and the moral high ground for fighting the Laurentians on THEIR TERMS. Ranting and muttering on sites like this SDA is all good and cathartic, but it does nothing in the grand scheme. Jason will use this to fight on terms the Eastern MSM, academia, and Ottawa-bubble understand. Crazy like a fox.

        1. Moral high ground, ha, this is Canada. Political capital and a couple of bucks will get you a small coffee.

  14. Now Kenny might be way smarter than I suspect, could be taking a long view in Alberta’s best interests, could be..
    But from the article.
“The province has been working with global suppliers to stock up, and some of those shipments will arrive in Alberta on Sunday, he said.

The province has signed contracts for millions of gowns, masks, and other gear worth more than $200 million, Shandro said.

“I assure all Albertans that we will have ample supply,” Shandro said. The province is still receiving supplies and by the end of April, plans to have 2,250 acute care beds, almost 1,100 ICU beds, and 760 ventilators at hand.”
If I interpret this correctly ,they are promising to provide PPE that is not yet in Alberta’s possession.
    A very Trudeau like promise.
Sure we can loan you lots of stuff we do not have, like all that support money the feds are printing.
If Buffalo is going to break free of the Canadien Kleptocracy, the Uni-Party clowns, like Kenny are going to have to be bypassed,as they seek to repeat Preston’s little game on us suckers.
None of these current politicians are worth the paper their names are written on.

  15. Pandering looks bad on Kenney. Not much more to say. The Queerbec fascists will never give approval to pipelines, or forgiveness of transfer payments from AB, no matter what!

    1. Who cares if it’s pandering? These medical supplies might well save lives in other provinces.

      1. It will, huh? The hospitals aren’t overrun at all.

This country has been hoodwinked into faux panic and will pay the price for shutting down the country for those that can least afford it. Probably take less than 10 years for the financial crisis to hit. That’s what it took after the end of the Trudeau/Turner regime, to the Cretch/Martin regime, for our first dollar/deficit crisis. Remember the Northern Peso?

Sorry, this country will be fcked, for the young and those without savings. While this household is solidly employed, I take no comfort in that. A generation has been hoodwinked into thinking that Santa Justin is their sugar daddy! They are in for a RUDE awakening.

  16. “And it still won’t get him a single mile of pipeline”.

    Kate, simply an Inspired header.

  17. The number of Alberta coronavirus cases has been flat over the last week, meaning almost no new cases. If their excess medical supplies are needed in another province than this is a reasonable and humane thing to do.

    1. Completely agree. Quite a few new cases, but the number of people successfully recovering is getting larger. A very hopeful sign. Active cases are now lower than the number of recovered.
Starting to look at options to carefully and reasonably open the economy and health system would be a humane thing to do as well. It would be very nice to know what the criteria will be

  18. L-P.P.E, surgical masks and ventilators are important.

But quick tests kits: for Corvid-19, for serum anti-bodies (immunity), the # of *Hydroxy-Chloroquine doses on hand; that is vital for ending the quarantine, for managing the risk and economic/social recovery ! Give us those numbers !

*(Not only treatment for serious cases, do note that India is using Hydroxy-Chloroquine as prophylaxis, which if effective on a large scale will have to substitute until a vaccine is developed.)

  19. You see, you do things because they need to be done regardless.
If you do it to get a praise, to get reward or any what you may call selfish reason, you are on the other side of good.

Kenny was minister of somethings in the federal government and had to talk and do things that were not localized so to say. He would have to overlook things that he may have found disgusting.
He has not adapted to provincial politics. He is not master of the universe. He is a premier of a province.
Kenny is doing things because he likes to be liked,
He does need to focus on the province.
He needs to tell the airhead to get a grip.
He needs to be somewhat less diplomatic and more realistic.

  20. I guess I see it differently than others. Kenny eliminated an excuse Trudeau could have used to enact Emergency Measures Act (Alberta is hoarding), publicly stated other goods reasons why Trudeau should keep nose out (provincial supply chain will function better than feds who couldn’t even stock their own emergency stockpile), and rendered Trudeau even more impotent than he was. He stated that he hopes the rest of the country will support Alberta with respect to oil/gas.

If the east were to spit in Alberta’s face after this, I would think Western separatists would have an easy time gaining further public support. Further, I think folks in the East might actually understand that kicking Alberta when they are down could be a real threat to Canada.

Provided we do have the supplies we need, I don’t see a downside to Kenney (or to separatists ) in doing this.
