    1. Here is the important question,

Will they send their $1200 check back if the Treasury Department gets their pronouns wrong?

      1. That look on his face reminds me of the following, attributed to Hollywood mogul Sam Goldwyn:

“The most important quality for success in this business is sincerity. As soon as you can fake that, you’ve got it made.”

And that’s exactly how Prinz Dummkopf comes across. He pretending that he’s listening intently, but either it goes in one ear and out the other, or he’s thinking all the while “You dumb idiot! You really think I’m paying attention to what you’re saying?”

    2. Grand Solar Minimum has been put in the shade with the Chinese Virus. But this is significant never the less. The Global High Priests of AGW have redacted Dr. Valentina Zarkova’s paper showing how changes in the earths orbit and the sun’s orbit force global heating and cooling. Something which has been scientific fact for many many years. Think Dark Ages. Think Galileo https://www.thegrandsolarminimum.com/valentina-zharkovas-work-retracted-for-no-reason/

  1. Whenever I’m at my house in B. C., and my canine “step-brother” happens to be staying with me, his dietary habits are thrown out the window.

When he’s with his new family, he apparently likes his dry food, but, with me, he frequently gives me his usual “I’m a poor hungry dog” look whenever I’m eating something. I’m, of course, compelled to comply and share my meal, something he was accustomed to while my father was still alive.

So I give him something, be it a piece of steak or some of my bacon and eggs, but the little guy doesn’t eat it. It seems that he inhales it instead. I put something on a small plate for him and it disappears almost instantly.

I don’t have to worry about him getting fat because of that. He runs around, particularly when he insists on playing “fetch”, that he quickly burns off all those calories.

      1. All of the dachshunds in the family, including my “step-brother”, were minis, which are roughly 3/4 the size of the regular ones.

        https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffsb&q=miniature+dachshund&iax=images&ia=images

All but the current one were long-hairs and they were gorgeous! All but one were brown and the exception was a black-and-tan.

This one looks a lot like my “step-brother”:

        1. Topic as indicated at the top of the page featured 2 lab dogs, Mabel and Olive, eating their chow hungrily as if it was a race.
And so began the posts about dogs. It often happens here….

          Re: my post:
Thought these mutts were very cute. I used to have a golden lab and the gentleman, B A Rupertslander has a dachshund, so I found the mix of these two breeds and others, quite interesting.

As it stands, most dog photos posted here and there, are of pure breeds. We rarely see these combinations, as posted.

Hope you like the photos, Bruce.

          1. To be exact, I sort of have a dachshund. The last one in the family was adopted by another family a few weeks after my father died. My main concern about the little guy was to provide him a good home and, in a roundabout way, I did just that.

Part of the adoption arrangement was that he gets to stay with me once in a while when I’m in town. He’s always overjoyed to be at the house, going hog wild once he’s let off leash and proving once again that he has the fastest tongue in the west.

The critter got to know me after my mother died and he ended up adopting me as part of the family. However, just as he’s happy to come to the house, he’s also happy to go back to his current home, where he’s loved and cared for. I’m sure, though, that he wishes that I could come along because I know he enjoys batching with me.

He looks just like the dachshund in that picture. When he’s standing there like that, he either wants to give me a good licking or wants to play “fetch” and is already growling to tell me to hurry up and throw the toy of choice.

          2. He is living proof that dogs have good memories!

‘Your’ dog is very cute, B A, he’s a YouTube star now — all over the place. And, he’s very lucky to have two homes.
            (I did remember that fact)

  2. Now we learn that felines can catch and I assume spread this flu/virus.
Great, what about the avian strain?
When to learn its for the birds?
The birds are coming north ,are those who feast on migratory duck about to get a surprise bonus with their bird?
Seems that very soon those of us who are otherwise healthy, may have to seek out this infection and get it over with.
If it is a one shot virus.
But what happened to that flu that was killing healthy young people in Australia in their last flu season?
    Where did that flu go?
Why did it not show up here in our flu season?
did it mutate to a lesser form?
Or did it spread here and it is lost in the noise?
We being hard wired for flight or flight, pandemics are tough to wait out..
As the kids used to say;”Are we there yet?”.
A vague memory of a documentary on the Spanish Flu pandemic was the roll of the birds and the possibility it was a 2 stage killer..
What was remarkable was how widely it spread and the toll on the young and healthy.
This one being the opposite, seems almost tailored to clean out the retirement rolls.

    1. Interesting note about migratory birds.

Way back in 1983, I was involved in making a docco on the Northern Territory in Australia; specifically the northern bit of the region.

One of the subjects for research and discussion was the herds of feral Water Buffalo and possible problems with “cattle” diseases such as Brucellosis and Tuberculosis. See also: feral pigs.

At the time it was common to see flocks of birds accompanying the buffalo. These were NOT “native” Australian birds, but migratory ones. Each year, they shuttled between places like Indonesia and Australia, and SIBERIA, as the seasons changed. There are several species, some of which, like the red-necked Stint, are also found in Alaska in the Northern Summer, and venture as far south as Tasmania.

Has anyone looked at similar avian activity in other places around the world? Flight paths may not always be purely linear and lots of bird species seem to co-mingle on the ground, as well.

If the last “big-one’ was a “bird flu”, how about this one possibly starting out that way?

  3. Where have all the heart attacks gone?

Harlan M. Krumholz, M.D. writes in the New York Times dated April 6

“What is striking is that many of the emergencies have disappeared. Heart attack and stroke teams, always poised to rush in and save lives, are mostly idle. This is not just at my hospital. My fellow cardiologists have shared with me that their cardiology consultations have shrunk, except those related to Covid-19. In an informal Twitter poll by @angioplastyorg, an online community of cardiologists, almost half of the respondents reported that they are seeing a 40 percent to 60 percent reduction in admissions for heart attacks; about 20 percent reported more than a 60 percent reduction.”

“Investigators from Spain reported a 40 percent reduction in emergency procedures for heart attacks during the last week of March compared with the period just before the pandemic hit.”

    https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/06/well/live/coronavirus-doctors-hospitals-emergency-care-heart-attack-stroke.html

Whilst taking this epidemic seriously, I’d still like to see Total deaths versus time plotted for 2020 and compared to previous years.

    1. Joe, that is EXACTLY the point at issue here.
If the number of deaths is NOT statistically exceptional compared to other years, Covid 19 is just another infection similar to flu that we get every year. 28,000 died of flu in the UK in 2016 yet the country was not shut down. At the moment, covid 19 has claimed 5373. Also remember to add to the 28,000, the heart attack, stroke, pneumonia, etc. deaths which occurred in 2016 that as you show, are now being included in the official statistics.
There is nothing massively different about covid 19, only the reaction to it by the idiots in charge.

      1. Addolff, I see another man has joined the ranks of us questioning the actions taken.

    2. Update to my remarks on I’d like to see total deaths over time plotted. The CDC does provide this data but total death reporting is not up to date. It can take many weeks for death certificate data to make its way to the CDC data files.

Dr. Roy Spencer has an interesting article on this at the WUWT site.

Scott Adams tweeted asking if a graph showing a decrease in pneumonia deaths was real or fake.

      https://mobile.twitter.com/ScottAdamsSays/status/1247522564210978817

There are some garbage replies in the twitter comments but some useful nuggets too. There are also comments on total deaths. Ignoring comments like Pneumonia is not Corona virus, three things strike me as interesting:

      a) the data is not timely. It appears to be 1-2 weeks late. And death data can take many weeks to arrive at CDC.

      b) there is a growing body of anecdotal evidence and rumours that some (many?) hospitals are reporting many deaths as COVID19. Why? To get federal funding? To get more badly needed supplies?

      c) there were a surprisingly large number of deaths in the 2017-18 flu season.

I take this virus very seriously as I have pre-existing conditions. However, at some point we have to get back to work and some politicians will have to make the difficult decision of when. It will help if we have total death data not just “official” COVID19 death data.

  4. L-If the number of heart attacks are down since the quarantine, which results in mass lay-offs and much less driving.
It may be that going to certain types of work and driving on crowded roads contribute to the rate of heart attacks?

Also, being on a war footing, feeling like the Battle of Britain, medical staff and para-medics being fighter pilots. The rest of us, being the stiff upper lip Brits, in our air raid shelters. The psychological reaction of hunkering down, as a community, as a nation, to survive an invasion of a hostile miasma. It may be stimulating an innate, primitive survival instinct, our bodies rallying to better fend off anticipated attacks.

Someone should research and see if the Brits had fewer heart attacks during the Blitz.

I wonder if the increase in babies born 9 months from now will be enough or more to replace the extra deaths from the Wuhan virus.
One reaction to a higher rate of death could be to ensure a higher rate of reproduction to offset it. Our survival instincts are deep, primitive, successful stratagems for species survival.

    1. Larry I read an item a few days ago and I think it was about NYC and the paramedics were told not to transport coronary problems to the ICU but to treat as much as possible on site. I have no verification of this other than what I have read. maybe someone could do some more digging?

      1. As I recall, it was more along the lines of assuming “do not resuscitate” if the patient’s heart stopped.

  5. The coming new narrative is that that the Chinese Coronavirus is raaaaacist.
More black men and women are sick and dying in Chicago than white folk.
Add in the coming outbreaks in Baltimore, DC, Atlanta, and Houston.
Obviously it is racism, there can be no other explanations.

No Explanations. Not that too many of African Americans are overweight, hypertensive, diabetic, and otherwise vulnerable. You can be sure the late night house parties, block parties, and ignoring the social distancing rules had nothing to do with the spread of the virus throughout their neighborhoods.

One reason that will be mentioned is that many are out there in public working jobs that expose them to many people that might be infected. That’s racist.

    ———–

I am still waiting for the geniuses in the Mainstream Media to discover the fact that many Wuhan Pneumonia survivors are going to end up with badly damaged and fibrosis scarred lungs. Many people are going to find out they survived the Chinese Coronavirus, but they are now partially disabled by their own scarred lungs. Avoid this disease if at all possible.

It is NOT just the flu.

    1. Meh, a friend of mine told me yesterday that he saw ten black kids playing B Ball outside at the Alexander Community Center. Would it have been racist to call the authorities? Yup.

    2. rd, it is not just the flu, yet over 81% of those who get it have mild flu like symptoms.

  6. True North website reports that Great Leader Blackie’s hundreds of millions of dollars in new foreign aid, will be spent on things like abortions and grants to organizations tied to terrorist groups. I like True North’s new name for Blackie’s health minister. Politburo Patty.

  7. Oh NO! Blacklock reports that Canada Day celebrations may be cancelled. We won’t get to hear Great Leader rant about Canadians being racist bastards. Or watch indians beat on drums, wave feathers, and chant to the sacred tree frog on parliament hill.

    1. I am still offended by the Liberal’s failure to include heritage as a theme for our 150th. They really are attempting to destroy traditional Canada, so I am sure they have no qualms about cancelling Canada Day. ( “We Day” will go ahead, I am sure.)

      1. I agree, Linda. The 150th Centennial a horrid and disrespectful spin event, one that erased the pioneers, mostly at first from France, the U.K., Ireland, the UEL and other other Americans, who built this country before Confederation. Yes, the Indians were here, but they had limited technology, and the early interactions were sometimes of benefit to all.

All one has to do is read the census data.

Confederation and opening of the west introduced a bit more diversity from eastern and Northern Europe, but many who came to Manitoba first were born-in-Canada Ontarians. We had pockets of Quebecers and Métis too through the west. Ditto for Alberta and Saskatchewan, plus many Canadians from Upper Canada, including some who went to the USA and came north, after they found free farming in Nebraska and North Dakota etc. challenging.

Anyway, Canada,s history as portrayed by the Trudeau government was unrecognizable to me, having come from born-Canada Canadians stock, both pioneers in Ontario and Alberta and Saskatchewan before 1885. My childhood grade 4 notebooks have a more accurate picture than this crap delivered during the Centennial. Like you, Linda, I remain furious for the erasing of history.

  8. The media in the Chinese colony of Canada, is excited that Huawei is donating masks to Canada. China is wonderful.

  9. New nick names are emerging for the Libranos in Ottawa “leading” the fight in the pandemic. Ontario John noted Hajdu’s, courtesy of True North, is: Politburo Patty. What about the Kokanee Groper? Day 25 of his two-week self-isolation is deserving of some recognition. Corona Coward? Covid Coward? Rear Guard?

    Suggestions?

    1. When referring to Justin, I prefer Big Chief Gay Eagle With No Balls, Great Leader Kim Sung Trudeau, Blackie The Gay Pirate, or just plain Dickhead.

      1. Theresa Tham.
“Neanderthal MAN”…there can be no mistake whatsoever, she is an obvious throwback of a few hundred million years….and about as bright.

  10. I see now Mr. Mrs? Tam changed its mind on Canadians wearing face masks. Its painful watching the bs that flows or better yet spews out of Ottawa

  11. Indians doing their part during the China virus crisis. Media reports that whiny indians in B.C. are appealing the Trans Mountain pipeline to the Supreme Court.

  12. Torstar repeats the story that 3M is making N95 masks using pulp from a paper mill in BC.

    https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.thestar.com/amp/opinion/editorials/2020/04/06/blocking-masks-and-gowns-for-ontario-is-a-disgraceful-move.html

This is FALSE. There are no paper products in 3M N95 masks. The filter is made from spun polypropylene. The other components from other hydrocarbon products.

Sorry, I did have a link to the components list for these 3M masks, but I’ve lost it

    1. THANX JOE…I was about to say the same thing.

The media has also gone on about K10s pulp and the Harmac Mill being the only one on the planet that makes it…cause it comes from Western Red Cedar…the inference is that only on YVR island will ya find that particular type of tree.

      Classic Media BS and Disinformation.

In reality, K10s is simply one of hundreds of pulp RECIPE’s.
Western Red Cedar grows from the Queen Charlottes all the way to the Oregon/Cali border. And it Seems to me that there are just a few Pulp mills in the lower 48 no.??

      https://biv.com/article/2020/03/harmac-cranking-out-pulp-used-make-surgical-masks-gowns

N95’s are construction dust masks. To me, they are Hot to wear & as such, pretty useless. The Std one has no exhaust valve so one is forced to re-breathe their exhaled, CO2 laden air. Yea…In lieu of a surgical paper mask, I’ll stick to my bandana worn Train robber style.

      1. Leftover from the SARS scare I still have a box of masks made in USA. Saving them for now.

Lately, due to cold temps here, I wear and recommend the “Buff”(TM) Polar Reversible, they have a double fabric thickness. There’s also ones that come in a single fabric thickness. They are available at any “Running Room Store,” “Campers Village” or big box store like “Cabelas.”  It looks like a fashionable scarf or turtleneck. They come in hundreds of colors for men and women.

See tutorial below. There are many ways to wear this:

Watch “Buff Polar Reversible Video Anwendungsmöglichkeiten” on YouTube
        https://youtu.be/fmkT1yqaZa4

        1. Good idea. I have several for use in frigid Spring and Fall golf rounds in SW Iowa. They help one breathe when the wind is gusting 45 MPH and the wind chill is in the 20s. I brought some down to Florida as well after discovering that in the mid-Atlantic counties, the winter temps hit freezing regularly.

  13. Why do people keep calling it the Trump flight ban? There is no flight ban, there never has been one. Direct flights from China happened for weeks after the first travel ban. Flights are still happening from London to JFK.

    https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/proclamation-suspension-entry-immigrants-nonimmigrants-certain-additional-persons-pose-risk-transmitting-2019-novel-coronavirus/

    (viii) any alien
    (A) seeking entry into or transiting the United States pursuant to one of the following visas: A-1, A-2, C-2, C-3 (as a foreign government official or immediate family member of an official), E-1 (as an employee of TECRO or TECO or the employee’s immediate family members), G-1, G-2, G-3, G-4, NATO-1 through NATO-4, or NATO-6 (or seeking to enter as a nonimmigrant in one of those NATO categories); or

    (x) any alien whose entry would further important United States law enforcement objectives, as determined by the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Homeland Security, or their respective designees, based on a recommendation of the Attorney General or his designee;
(xi) any alien whose entry would be in the national interest, as determined by the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Homeland Security, or their designees; or
(xii) members of the U.S. Armed Forces and spouses and children of members of the U.S. Armed Forces.
    (b) Nothing in this proclamation shall be construed to affect any individual’s eligibility for asylum, withholding of removal, or protection under the regulations issued pursuant to the legislation implementing the Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, consistent with the laws and regulations of the United States”

    no small list indeed.

  14. Some may find this interesting; the flu vaccine for the upcoming flu season is always manufactured in the February to October time frame.
Sometimes the makers of the vaccine don’t make the correct guess on which strains of flu to include. For example, in the USA for the 2017-2018 flu season, people who had been vaccinated ended up only 36% less likely to get the flu than those who remained un-vaccinated. It was a bad flu season and 80,000 Americans, mostly elderly people died over that time period.
I haven’t found the numbers for Canada.

  15. Haven’t seen this mentioned yet, so forgive if I missed it somewhere/somewhen else.

Under “Never let a good crisis go to waste”

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/health/covid-19-alcohol-sales-physical-distancing-1.5520433

Another bunch of specialists pushing their agenda. We’re all going to be a bunch of alcoholics because we can’t control ourselves looking at the stocked up booze in our houses.

What amazes me is the support in the comments section! A lot of people(?) are willing to do prohibition again!

    1. Thank goodness grocery delivery includes beer. I’ll give them my IPA when they pry it from my cold, dead hands.

    1. Needle parades were brutal. Especially when Private Shaky was sticking it in your arm.

  16. Just a Timcast video: MeToo Movement EXPOSED As A Political Sham, Rose McGowan SHREDS Alyssa Milano Over Hypocrisy
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C51QONEc_08

They are turning on each other over Biden.
McGowan calls Milano a “corrupt DNC fraud”

Watching the left get caught in their schemes like Sideshow Bob with the rakes gives me a schadenboner.

    1. Oh, yippee. I filled it out, but I am still in the USA waiting for a flight that will not be cancelled, but used my Canadian zip and land phone. No comments, so as usual, stats can will get lousy results.

    1. I saw it ‘live’ when JT said that and he muttered something about it being a poorly chosen word. Guess our English major doesn’t know the word spittle. Huck tttooweee Justin.

      That’s nothing.

Yesterday’s blabfest was worse. Someone from a Sun News asked him if he had any news about the 2 prisoners being held in China and after he nearly choked on his spittle he said that they, the Government, was continuing to work on the file.

Always with the continuing, and continuing.
They sound like a broken record always continuing to continue.
This is so sick, it’s sickening.
