Blog Notes

A reminder that when you post comments with drug names or multiple links, the odds skyrocket that your comment will be tagged as spam or sent to moderation. I don’t check those very often, so it’s possible they won’t be released.

I’ve also instituted a proactive policy to tag as spam certain users who have been abusing their privileges. You’ll know who you are by now.

Also — if your comment is longer than 90% of my entries, it’s time to get your own blog. Keep it short.

My arm still hurts like hell, so I’m not in the mood to argue.

    1. A gin and tonic is part of our daily health regimen here at Casa de Tanker. In fact, it’s almost time I head to the kitchen and prepare today’s serving.

      1. Hey! If it’s 5:00p at your house … that’s good enough for me here on the Left coast! Cheers!

PS … tomorrow … all the tonic water will be SOLD OUT at my local markets. All the dry goods are …

  1. Kate,

Hope your arm heals quickly and you are feeling better soon

  2. Glad to hear that Kate. The last while there’s been more than a few culprits abusing the privilege which was becoming quite bothersome.
    Hope you’re feeling better soon.

  3. I wouldn’t knock spam. It’s looking pretty good in the ol’ pantry right now.

But does the word “spam” trigger moderation? Let’s find out…

  4. Sorry to hear your arm is no better, Kate. Prayers for a faster recovery.

  5. Kate,
Thank you for the work you do every day. It doesn’t surprise me when you get Canadian stories before a lot of people here in South Carolina USA, but it amazes me how many American stories I read here first. You do great work, thanks again.

    1. Foggytrucker – great post. I agree, Kate’s the best. I’m an Albertan and I first heard about SDA from a Libertarian from NH many years ago when I used to go to Steynonline all the time. I’ve been coming back here ever since.

Be well Kate. And don’t touch your face, please.

      1. BTW … Kate

About a month ago I woke up one Sunday morning and literally couldn’t walk, because my remaining natural hip was in so much acute PAIN with every step I took … it just buckled. I was in total despair, as now was not a particularly good time for NOT being able to walk. I called my orthopedic surgeon to schedule a visit and another hip replacement.

Well I did a little more reading … and discovered that my problem might NOT be a terminal case of cartilage erosion … but just a “flare up”. The article recommended rest and minimal walking around for a few days. This had NEVER been true of my other hip, which just gradually got worse and worse. Well (to quote Joe Biden) “son of a bitch”! After 3-days of rest, I was able to walk with no pain whatsoever … and the problem hasn’t returned since.

Hopefully, you’ve just had a flare up caused by exertion and with a little rest, you’ll be able to touch your nose again … pain free!

  6. If anybody knows how to treat a painful sling-encased (good = immobilized) arm, I’m sure it is you. Hope it heals quickly though my curiosity is , well let’s just say it is a good thing I am not a cat. May the effects of your Ibuprofen have the longevity of a Justified.

    1. Speaking of Ibuprofen, Word has gone out NOT to take it if you think you might have the coronavirus. BAD side effects.

      1. The doctor on Carlson show said that Ibuprofen is ok for fever, not to overdo it.
Also said Tylenol may be easier and works the same.

  7. Kate I know you are a very competitive woman but you’ll just have to learn to stop arm wrestling with the boys. Those beer drinkers can be very strong after a few ales. heh

But seriously, I had my first and only (I hope) rotater cuff injury 5 yrs ago when I was laying on the ground trying to loosen the rusty old nuts on an Ezee-On 500 double disc.
No room, awkward position and holding the 3/4 in ratchet up in the air.
Didn’t actually feel it that bad right away but it took a year or so to get back to relative normal. And even now still get the occasional reminder that it’s there.
Get well – we really need you to captain the good ship SDA.
