Dead Country Walking

Berkshire bails;

Warren Buffett’s investment company Berkshire Hathaway has decided not to invest $4 billion in a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant by the Saguenay port, according to Radio-Canada.

The marine terminal to ship LNG to overseas markets is slated to be built roughly 230 kilometres northeast of Quebec City, at a cost of $9.5 billion.

News broke Thursday morning in La Presse that Berkshire Hathaway was walking away from the project.

Stéphanie Fortin, head of communications for the company behind the project, GNL Québec, confirmed the company had lost a significant potential investor, but did not want to say who it is.

She did say, however, that the company lost the investor because of the “current Canadian political context.”

    1. Trudeau doesn’t care.

He wants his legacy to be “the man who fought climate change”.

He’ll proudly say that Mr Buffett made a commercial decision recognizing that the era of fossil fuels is over.

When your best friend is Gerry Butts, and one of your senior energy advisors is Sarah Goodman (formerly VP Tides Canada) do you expect anything else from him?

Re Coastal Gas Link and Kitimat LNG. A prime minister that wanted this project to go ahead would have very visibly and repeatedly supported the elected First Nations chiefs and the majority of First Nations residents who wanted the project. What did Trudeau do? He had his officials “negotiating” i.e. delaying with the hereditary chiefs.

Why do you think Justin met only with the Greens, NDP, and Bloc leaders? All are opposed to fossil fuels.

      1. He wants his legacy to be “the man who fought climate change”.

And who put Canada (or what’s left of it) onto the UN Security Council.

Why do you think Justin met only with the Greens, NDP, and Bloc leaders? All are opposed to fossil fuels.

“I don’t undewthtand thith thuppowt fow the oiw induthtwy. Evewybody I talk to hateth it.” In other words, never deal with Prinz Dummkopf unless one is prepared to tell him what he wants to hear.

      2. Yep… and each and everyone of those MoFo’s is financed via the Rothschilds or Soros.

Butts hired/installed as CEO of the WWF by the Rothschilds…and there’s plenty of evidence Soros and party are deeply ingrained within the Canadian Swamp.

I’ve often wondered how a,Liberal Party submerged in debt (10+million), managed to pull off a Federal Election Campaign replete with a cpl of Trudeau Jets… who bought them..??

    2. No, no, no … this will CREATE jobs! In government. Jobs for the “Social Justice Studies” graduates who will be interviewing and doling out welfare payments to the newly unemployed. And for all those “Green Justice Studies” graduates will be inventing “new green jobs” for these roughnecks. They’ll either get in touch with their inner rainbow … or they’ll starve. Lots more government jobs. Gonna need even MORE taxes from the corporations that are left.

      1. As Jordan Peterson has repeatedly said it is absolutely worthless to hold any degree that ends with the descriptor Studies. You are only employable by left wing governments,George Soros {shoulld be sorrows], the tides bunch, the greens or the NDP or some other off shore entity that wants to access Canadian resources. The aboriginals are not our friends they are being manipulated by groups and organizations that could care less about this country or its people. Who ever signs the checks seems to be equated to their level of patriotism!

  1. Obviously Warren has not appointed enough to fools to his board of directors. Does that make him a racist?

    1. Not sure about that. What were they thinking about? What serious money manager would put money into Qc.

I’ve spent time in Rural Qc and they are just as looney as Redmontoners and Nenshites in Edt and Cgy. The area between Mtl and Sherbrooke is full of gas that could be fracked. In some places you can go down to the riverside, start a campfire and the natural gas oozing out of the ground will keep it going in the rain. They have shitty jobs with shitty pay and yet they come out in full force to protest fracking natural gas. They can’t be helped. As Kate says they need a famine first.

  2. Obviously didn’t bribe the right people to make problems go away.
Buffett must know someone at Tides he could have a few words with.

    1. Nice to see Quebec get bent over and get it where the sun don’t shine because of Trudeau’s incompetence …. Blacky Mcblackface is having a bad hair day 😉

      1. I expect right now, there is a plan in place to compensate Queeebec from federal funds, because of the economic hardship this will cause.

      2. what color will he dye it today?.. He is starting to look like the skunk he is.

  3. Turd dough will rot in hell for unilaterally erasing billions from Candian economy, after having borrowed countless billions.
He had just condemned the following generations to paying interest to the banking cartels for eternity.
But he has cute hair and his dad was great, so he will escape responsibility as all-forgiving Canadians wink it and blink it.

    Oust these monsters already!

  4. When Juthtin gets the news (and then has it explained to him) he’ll probably blame Harper.

    1. Don’t bother Great Leader, he is talking to kiddies in Toronto today on how wonderful he is.

  5. Turdo will take the carbon taxes he has robbed from us to “invest” in this venture. He cannot allow Quebec jobs to be lost.

  6. Oh no, Quebec lost a job, quick, organize a bailout and royal commission.

    1. This is when you will start hearing from a more “assertive” & vote pandering Andrew Scheer

  7. Oh Can Ahh Duhhh we stand on guard for you..
Guarding our children from a prosperous future.
Guarding our welfare indebtedness for ever.
    Are we done yet?

  8. Who is John Galt?…er…oh….I guess I mean, “Qui est Jean Le Galt?”….(shrugs)

  9. What I find a bit frustrating about this is that it says it is up to Quebec to determine if it proceeds or not, just like it was up to BC to decide if the Costal GasLink line got approved. But Teck, for some reason, required Federal approval which, despite jumping through all the regulatory hoops, the feds were preparing not to do.
And if anyone thinks the Feds will just stand by and let this particular project fall through, they haven’t been paying attention to federal priorities lately.

    1. Darren,a little known, even in Alberta, quirk of Confederation, when Buffalo was broken up into Provinces,Alberta and Saskatchewan were created as beggars.
They ,and only they, of the provinces must get federal approval of provincial projects.
As more westerners realize this, sentiment for separation expands.
The Status Quo is Slave Regions to Ottawa.

  10. Blackie will buy it with credit. Kaybek MUST be appeased at ALL TIMES.
After all, he gave Alberta $4.5 Billion when he bought TMX. It is only fair that Kaybek get $4 Billion.
I hope I am joking, but I have been here for a while.
Isn’t that how Communists like things, all government owned?

  11. but, butt, Butt . . . . . he has such CUTE hair !!!!
now on the face too !!!!!!
oh gaia !!!! oh gaia !!!!! what went wrong????? how have we offended thee gaia !!!!!!

but seriously, it would be FASCINATING to have an *exact count* how many kaybekers are
OUT OF WORK with the cancellation, AND voted for the TURDoo 2.0.

  12. Don’t worry Quebec will just ask for more money from Alberta to pay for all their free stuff.

    1. Bingo! Why would Quebec give two farts about losing investment? They just ask for an increase in welfare payments from Alberta.

The sooner we leave this sinking ship the better.

PS: Read the comments in that article if you think this is a Trudeau problem. Remember, he got over 30% of the vote from people who knew his performance record.

    2. First, the United Conservative party will reach out to Quebec in solidarity, looking for partners in their battle against Trudeau’ s policies. Then, the caring Liberal party will express the need for dialog and call Quebec in to make a deal (while excluding Alberta reps).
In announcing said deal with Quebec, both parties will blame dirty Alberta for their loss and raise the carbon tax to help pay for the multi-billion dollar subsidy. Then the media will pile on with how unbecoming greedy Albertan’s are for complaining about what they themselves wrought.
This is not a prediction, just a gut feeling on how Albertans will end up taking it in the teeth.
Looking more and more that the Great White Buffalo runs away from the not-so-Great White North.

  13. Eet iz naturel gaz, non?
    Pipline pour quoi?

Or to paraphrase J Chretien, “What’s a few brazilian dollars?” Its dirty Hamerican dolhairs! Only clean yuen pour moi.

  14. Alberta should challenge that project’s environmental approval in court. Show them how much fun this can be.

    1. You understand this project is about exporting western canadian gas, right? Quebec doesn’t produce any natural gas.

This project is about finding export markets for western gas.

      1. Why, yes. Yes, I do.

However, until the bastards start putting their stamp of approval on every single carbon-based energy project in Alberta, they don’t get a cubic inch of our gas. Save separation, that’s the only leverage we have.

        Fug’em.

While were at it, we should immediately turn off the taps going both east & west. We’ll see how long it takes for the country to come on board.

      2. Good call Kevin I was so glad to see The Frogs get screwed for once that I failed to do the fact checking The west gets phucked again.Just lost some work I had lined up for my business would have been a month or more for my business. The guy needing the work done got laid off he was a pipeline worker so if you think Trudeau’s shit won’t affect you think again

      3. How about holding off on any gas export proposal through Quebec until the pipeline to Kitimat is completed. Let’s see if some Indian decides they haven’t been given a fair shakedown in Quebec and see what the Spawn’s government does about it.

      4. Don’t care. This country needs a Massive wake up call. Whether it’s at our expense now or in the future is just a matter of timing.

  15. Like Tyson says, everybody has a game plan until they get hit in the face. This will be tough on Canada as will be the Teck Mine loss. B.C. should do the right thing and toss in the towel on Transmountain. Then we can all sell pencils together.

  16. Yes I know .. they hae banned fracking and pipelines in general except those which benefit Quebec

  17. This is more good news. It further disgraces Canada in the eyes of international investors and will no doubt lead to an uptick of separatist sentiment in Quebec. Why stay shackled to this decaying husk of a country when even the name “Canada” has become pure poison to natural resource investors?

Anyone serious about WEXIT has to drop the old anti-frog paradigm and realize that Quebec separatists are our greatest allies in our common goal of breaking up Canada. The Quebec separatist movement should be a model for us to emulate, not something to fight against.

And for all their social and economic leftism, the Parti Quebecois are quickly becoming the most conservative political party in the country on the most important issue of all: immigration. One of the PQ’s leadership candidates has proposed reducing Quebec’s immigration intake to 25,000 a year, while at the same time Trudeau wants to increase Canada’s to 450,000!

Peter Mackay was asked about the 450,000 number on John Oakley’s radio show and said he didn’t want to talk about numbers, the exact same cop-out that Scheer used when asked about Canada’s current annual intake, 350,000. Mackay is too much of a cuck to criticize an insane immigration rate 4.5 times that of the US and undoubtedly the highest in the world. How pathetic is that?

So all Wexiteers please repeat after me:

    The PQ are our friends
    The CPC are our enemies

    1. They are all marxist parasites that exist to pick my pockets. Can’t wait to vote for independence.

  18. If there was a free press in Canada ? They would be getting a quote from the Sage of Omaha, himself !

  19. Some people are making money though. The Liberal Party’s Globe and Mail reports that Big Chief Gay Eagle With No Balls, has approved giving Mohawks two hundred and forty million dollars to settle a land claim in Quebec. This will be a great addition to the money the Mohawks make on illegal gun and drug sales.

  20. Stolen from earlier post today.

“And The Budget Will Balance Itself, Man”
“Those tax revenues will start pouring in any day now;”

  21. It’s Quebec jobs, probably Lavalin. Sogn me up to man the blockades to all their construction sites. My environmental objection to the project is already in the mail.

  22. Not to worry, Wesley Mouch,….er……Gerald Butts, is working hard on a new plan, the Equalization of Opportunity Bill.

    Alberta Shrugged.

  23. “current Canadian political context.” – what a polite way of putting it.

  24. Warren Buffet declining to invest in Quebec/Canada is telling. Hopefully, this will be a harbinger of things to come.
