Nonsense. Pure fear mongering claptrap. It’s just another flu bug.
You must work for the Canadian government.
LOL! Yes, I went through the captcha nonsense to post that
You can’t have it both ways. A pantload of people keep saying the flu kills way more people. Now you’re saying that’s no big deal if this does the same?
And please let us know the last time the Chicoms put out city-sized quarantines for “just another flu”.

much like dear leader.
That’s ok I have had a sever cold and cough for almost a month now and guess what, it comes back year after year, not necessarily every year. Most viruses have the ability to re-infect.
See the video on the 1918 Spanish Flu in the post below.
No matter what its origin, this nCov will not be fun. Notice how long it took the 1918 Spanish flu to get a foothold and then really start killing? This Wuhan Pneumonia could be even worse.
A University of MN public health professor said on KSTP TV today the virus will peak in the April to May timeframe. Assume that each infected person infects 4 more. Assume the incubation period is about 1 week. A patient last week infected 4 on Groundhogs Day this week, and next week they infected 16 by Feb 8. By Valentines Day we have 64 new patients, by Feb 22, they are 256, March 1, 1024, March 8 there are 4096 new infected. Saint Patrick’s Day has over 16,000 new patients. By Aprils Fool Day two weeks later, there are 64,000 new infected people. By May, that could be 8 million new patients that week alone.
I will leave it to my fellow commentators to figure the cumulative death toll, if the death rate is 0.1% like the normal flu, 1%, 2%, or God Forbid, 10% of the people that are infected each week.
This last week of January is just a blip. Two months from now could be awful.
If the stats the Chi Coms are releasing are accurate, and I don’t believe they are, I believe they are much worse, the death rate appears to be slightly above 2%.
When it hits 2% of population we will really have a shit storm going.
The reason anyone would believe it is because it’s entirely plausible that the chicoms would do it.
Why would the PRC release a highly contagious, highly lethal bioweapon on its own people? That makes absolutely no sense. It’s so ludicrous as to deserve no further attention.
Occam’s Razor still shaves the closest.
It would appear that “Comrade Wang, the lead researcher at the Germ-warfare lab”….forgot to wash his hands before leaving work one day.
From Wikipedia, the 2007 foot and mouth outbreak in Surrey UK.
“The source of the strain released and contained in Surrey in 2007 was the advanced effluent pipes from either the Institute for Animal Health or the similar vaccine researching and producing Merial Animal Health laboratory near to Pirbright village in the county – the pipes were too old and/or insufficiently inspected given their importance. An inspection of the effluent pipes and manholes carried out for the HSE investigators showed deficiencies and the independent investigation of Professor Brian Spratt concluded that it was very likely that they occasionally leaked still-infectious effluent at the time of the outbreak”
As regards Wuhan, I don’t think the Chicoms meant their experiment to escape the Level 4 Lab just yet but you know human fallibility…
Life is cheap in China. Chairman Mao planned to murder up to 50 million kulaks upon taking power if they dared resist collectivization, at a time when China’s population was no more than 600 million. A couple of hundred deaths is a statistic.
The only old, sick Chinamen who are considered indispensable by the Politburo are…the Politburo. They will all have been vaccinated before the experiment began, so they can spend the next several months watching Western medical systems collapse, and listening to the western press blame it all on Trump.
Never mind that President Trump is the only man to actually do something to stop the plague, finally insisting on denying entry to the US by Chinamen till further notice. The president knows an act of war when he sees one.
Just think of another way to reduce population with out taking the blame. This will kill a lot of old people who are a drain on the system, and China will not get the condemnation they would as if the ran them over with a tank
Also, who knows if they actually started their effective reporting when this actually got started
Are we still importing foods from China?
What if – and this pure conspiracy theory – this is just a test of the emergency broadcast system? Right now the virus doesn’t look like it’s going to kill 70 million people. But it’s a great training ground for any group planning to release a more virulent virus in the future. Testing the WHO (“we are monitoring the situation”) tells you world orgs will be slow out of the gate and reluctant to make any decisive decisions early on. Testing research labs (like the one above claiming an HIV implant) will generate enough confusion to keep a cure far away and prevent the identities of the attacking group from being known. Shutting down entire cities will test the group’s ability to contain the virus in their own backyard. Testing the release point of the virus would establish where most of the ensuing chaos would occur – release it in China and North America suffers, release it in the Middle East and most of Europe suffers. The Spanish flu killed over 70 million people and the only clue about its origin was that it came from birds. This has been a test of the emergency broadcast system. We return you to your regular programming.
Keeping this in the thought experiment realm.
I doubt they would bother since they could just look back at other outbreaks and determine the same thing.
Running this to test the WHO merely lets current WHO workers refine some skills, work out key contact personnel.
It also makes the WHO a little more observant for a while.
Key question, why does this shit always originate in China?
Because China is the one country that has repeatedly tried to create a virus or disease that only infects NON-Chinese people.
They are 0 for 10 now. Maybe they’ll get it one day.
In America, virus infects man, in China, man infects the virus!
The government has vowed to upkeep adequate supplies of vegetables, rice, and meat.
“Please do not panic, do not hoard, so as not to cause waste,” a government bulletin said.
Always better to have a hoard before the SHTF.
The WHO health bureaucracy has just said that any travel restrictions are “mean”. Therefore the travel restrictions put in place by President Trump are clearly mean. The lack of any travel restrictions by Prime Minister Trudeau means that he is nicey-nicey. /s
Searching the net, I see no story saying the World Health Organization has called travel restrictions ‘mean’.
Looking at the WHO website, I found no statement by the organization recommending against travel restrictions WRT this new bug. None. There were ones concerning influenza, Ebola, HIV, etc – not this new one.
I DID find a Reuters story quoting a Chicom official as saying, “‘The World Health Organization urged countries to avoid travel restrictions, but very soon after that, the United States did the opposite,’ Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said in a statement. ‘It’s truly mean.’”
So that was the PRC govt using the word ‘mean’, not WHO.
If we are searching for truth, it might help if we stuck to facts.
Jack, you parsing words too closely. WHO opposes travel bans — and travel bans are a sane approach to this crisis — and that’s that.
Congratulations Jack. You’re the first person to fail Google.
My uncle never forgot having the Spanish flu. A healthy young lad of about 10-11 years old, living in very rural Ontario, he had spent the day skating on the creek. The flu came on him so hard and fast he collapsed in his supper plate. In a time before antibiotics all they had for treatment was gin. You went to bed and sweated it out. Eventually the whole area was quarantined. No one moved anywhere not even to go to the neighbours. It was the only way they got it stopped. If you walk in the graveyards of the old Kirks the years 1918 & 1919 are prominent on the headstones of many children and young adults as the flu cut a wide swath through the younger population.
I think all anti-vaxxers should take a walk through an 1800s cemetery and see all the children that died of communicable diseases that we now give shots for. A lot of the anti-vaxxers are alive because I gave my kids all their shots and their kids are never exposed. A note to anti-vaxxers – don’t go to the shithole world – you might not get out alive.
This corona virus was developed in the bio lab in Wuhan, possibly from material stolen or given to them from the Winnipeg lab. The problem was the Chinese can’t do anything right so it escaped. It is weapons grade and everyone is lying to us.
“This corona virus was developed in the bio lab in Wuhan, possibly from material stolen or given to them from the Winnipeg lab. The problem was the Chinese can’t do anything right so it escaped. It is weapons grade and everyone is lying to us.”
And you know this how? I’m not saying anything’s impossible, but that’s an truly extraordinary claim. (Claims, actually – 1) that there is a BW lab in Wuhan, 2) that this bug was developed there, 3) that it’s weapons-grade and 4) everybody’s lying to us.) Accordingly, the proof has to be more than mere speculation or ‘might-of-could-have’ possibilities. So far, we’ve seen no proof at all. If you’ve got some cards, put ‘em on the table. Enlighten us, please; we’re all waiting.
I have positive proof. Alex Jones told me. Today, almost all news are lies. I am just following the fact this to a logical conclusion.
Jack, look at it a different way – with skepticism but without disbelief of anything that isn’t laid out for you.
1. In Wuhan there is an institute of virology, Level 4, designed for things such as the Ebola virus.
2. They were studying previous versions of the coronavirus.
3. It is now clear the Wuhan seafood market was not the origin, as people were sick before visiting that market.
4. Listen to how stupid the experts can be … “Of course, if they are doing bioweaponry, it is covert,” Leitenberg said in a phone call, but added it was unlikely the Chinese government would use such a facility for production or even research and development of bioweapons. Of course it would be covert. The experts wouldn’t even know about it. Plus they could be using a non-bioweapon facility to do bioweapon research, such as the Wuhan Level 4 facility.
5. How about this gem from another bio-expert in the USA … Trevan [an American bio-expert], who was quoted in a 2017 article in Nature that warned of possible risks at the Wuhan facility that was cited by the Daily Mail, said in a phone call to The Post that he was concerned at the time about how to “manage risk in these complex systems when you cannot predict all the ways in which the system could fail.”
In other words, it is quite possible that the Chinese were studying a new form of coronavirus at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (a level 4 center that handles Ebola) and that the virus was accidentally discharged into the public domain (e.g. a scientist unknowingly contracted it and promptly went shopping for seafood).
If this is the case, could this not be a form of bioweapons research? It’s like the Chinese studying bio-research alongside the Canadians and then trying to steal the research. Why would they try and steal the research unless they wanted it for another reason. I’m trying to remember if the development of atomic energy was first used to create a weapon or as an energy supply. Can’t quite remember …
sfr, I am impressed with your common sense and courtesy both. Such things bring converts as opposed to blind opposition. I would note however that a Level IV lab is not automatically a biowar facility. Perfectly peaceful research is often done in such; we have them in this country. An accidental release – if they did create the bug in question – is certainly a possibility, no argument. But so is natural mutation. Occam’s Razor rules.
As to the kind of argument that ‘Mao was a ruthless tyrant, therefore this is a deliberate BW event…”. Really? No wonder the libtards consider us knuckledragging halfwits. If that’s typical of our thinking, then they’re not wrong.
it seems we do not give shots anymore, but we bundle all of them into one to make a collection of many. This combination is sometimes too much for a child. is that not the problem?
If you ever happen to visit Nordegg, Alberta visit the graveyard. It’s a small place even today in old coal mining country. Lots of markers dated 1918, mostly kids.
My mother also remembered the Spanish flu. They were living on the farm at the time and so were naturally somewhat protected. When supplies had to be brought in, Grandad was the one to go to town in the horse and buggy. He lived in the barn for the duration of the outbreak and there was minimal to no contact between him and the family. Fortunately, he didn’t get the flu.
Centuries of Chinese xenophobia has led to a genetically homogeneous population in which the consequences of disease outbreaks are far more dire.
Yes indeed, hasn’t been mentioned because RACIST!
Nonetheless, genetics don’t lie, the centuries of “inbreeding” May very well lead to higher susceptibility to viruses and plagues. There’s also something to be said about the congestion of all those people living and moving about in close quarters, something we are not exposed to much, if at all. It’s the perfect storm for a plague to spread like wildfire.
Closing flights from China should have been done already, but the Chicoms little pet PM won’t offend his masters!
LOL! Ah, no. The Chinese are almost as genetically heterogeneous than Americans. They absorbed Huns, Mongols, Afghanis, Tibetans, Indians, Malaysians, Filipinos and most recently they are importing women from all over the world to deal with the woman shortage caused by the one child policy. That might be true of a small sect around Shanghai but it is certainly not true of China as a whole. I think maybe you are mixing up your Chinese human genetics with the Japanese.
There are certainly many distinct ethnic groups in China, but over 90% of mainland Chinese are Han Chinese (the same Han as in Wuhan BTW).
Speaking as a scientist with a biochemistry background, I call BS. First of all India is notorious for fake scientific publications. I’ve had an entire paper copied and new author put on it and it was then republished. Even if this is not a fake paper, it is likely fake science. Even if it is accurate, China has a large number of HIV infected individuals and they are not all properly treated with antivirals. It is entirely plausible that an HIV infected person with a compromised immune system was the patient zero who then shed the virus everywhere. That’s a whole lot more plausible than a failed weaponized virus. Even if it is a failed attempt at weaponizing a virus, so what? We still have to deal with it.
Debunked. Details here: https://twitter.com/trvrb/status/1223337991168380928?s=19 Any virus that infects humans is going to have some overlap of genetic code. All they did was find what all viruses have in common that lets them infect humans. The matching in the paper is a bad joke.
So you are acknowledging the HIV link / sequence in your hypothesis. How does agreeing the HIV sequence is there in any way impung the Indian paper? Sounds like sour grapes. So they scooped everyone in the field. Don’t care. BTW the indians aren’t the first ones to call out the spike sequence as looking really funky. So far the peers are all saying yes but it could have happened “naturally” not that the unusual sequence it isn’t there or isn’t really really similar to HIV or that it couldn’t have been snipped and clipped or that it has nothing to do with an enhanced infectious pathway. They aren’t persuasively refuting the indians.
Seems to me that at a place (Wuhan level 4) where I can easily find research papers with abstracts such as “how I engineered horseshoe bat virus to infect mice” and “looking at HIV-1 gp120 infection pathway” (one of the 4 HIV infections pathways sited as an insert by the indian paper), a place that has a checkered history with Canadian viral espionage, a more probable theory is some naughty engineering and some incompetence. Why else is the dog that isn’t barking the world renown bat virus experts and immunology experts at Wuhan lab? Where are they? Where were they at the beginning? Oh we’re world experts in bat corona but we have nothing to offer (sarc). Why are they not prominently giving advice to the global and local community, sharing expertise, raising the alarm, crusading for locals to not eat dangerous bat soup or to shut down wet markets, etc. And why does the outsized current China response look like something that was advised by a bioweapon gone wrong expert compared to the official infection data? Sounds to me more like the ’79 soviet anthrax oopsie. That was blamed on bad meat too. Maybe Kate needs to add to the title It’s probably nothing but don’t eat the “meat”.
You, Justin, are an uncommon ray of common sense around here. Well said.
Zerohedge appears to have been twitter cancelled for Corona scientist doxxing.
Article is a strange read but zerohedge can be strange.
Just think of another way to reduce population with out taking the blame. This will kill a lot of old people who are a drain on the system, and China will not get the condemnation they would as if the ran them over with a tank

It’s just another media scare story. Corona wins the prize for most ado about nothing.
AIDS BS.
Spanish flu BS.
You are so easily led and manipulated.
Many of us hope that it is about nothing.
And always have a Plan B.
My nephew used to work for a Chinese importing company and knows the rules. Canada most certainly imports chicken from China. I’ve never bought chicken from anywhere besides a local butcher since then. Some supermarkets tell you where their chicken is sourced from. There has been a report that they have detected bird flu in China recently, but I have no link.

Here’s a drone telling an old Chinese woman to get off the street. It chides her for not wearing a mask. How can anyone believe that this virus is not dangerous given the measures that the Chinese are taking? Don’t listen to what they are saying.
Watch what they are doing and get a one month supply of non perishable food and hygiene supplies. You can always eat the stuff later on. I’m speaking mostly to people in large cities because they have flights coming from and going to China often.
I get mad when people listen to the Federal Government and the msm. My husband is calling this the “you’re on yourowna “virus. Not much downside to taking some precautions.
Third case in Ontario (makes it fourth in Canada). Obviously chicom visitor. Tested negatively initially. Global numbers went from about 9K Friday morning to 14.5K mid day Saturday. Nothing to see here, and don’t be racist to chicoms.

Also, who knows if they actually started their effective reporting when this actually got started
